    ^^^

    Point taken.

All im saying is that, DU30 govt has its bright side too. I may not know the full details behind them, but we can agree that it partly has something to do with his leadership as well.

On Smoking and FC Ban: Grnated that we have ordinances on FC and smoking ban, but its still DU30's effort to really push for its implem. In the past this was never given emphasis maybe because PNoy is chain smoker or doesnt really care on fc related accidents - makes sense to me. But again, it is always safe to say that there is much stronger leverage when the president himself is vocal on what he wanted to do.

On AFP: Yes, those jets are attributed to Pnoy's initiatives. But we have several in the pipeline already like the additional jets, the frigates, attack hellis, the combat gears (i hate it coz most of it are chinese made). So there's DU30 intiatives to modernize the army. I shall add the salary increase also.

Going back to what you say about changing the consti. I agree. For the longest time people are saying its the constitution that needs change, but its not really that. We should be changing our way or yardstick of voting and choosing politicians. For countless times, we put the wrong people there, and eventually failing us.

I'm still stumped at how the luxury segment was heavily favored in the TRAIN. Harder to swallow still is the idea that this happened by chance, that the favorite segment of congressmen and senators are given a break when everyone else has to pay more is a coincidence.

Then I get word from an insider that pickups were exempted because they are to be a business venture of someone high up in this admin.

i'd have to disagree with you on the AFP modernization sir. afaik the attack helicopter purchase was during the previous admin, so yes, continuation lang sya. That's kind of like GMA taking credit for the MRT.

If anything, early on he wanted to kill the jet purchases as they were "a waste of money".

Sure, he forced those Chinese rifles on the AFP, which they handed over to the PNP(i'll leave it to you to decide why they did that), but that doesn't count as modernization to me, as the AFP rifles were already superior to the ones from China.

Doubling the salaries of soldiers and policemen....kind of hard to take a counter position to this, but, strictly speaking, nothing was modernized. Unless soldiers are supposed to buy their own gear.

Train favors the rich, and the tax cuts on employed individuals serves as a smoke screen to it.

Yes we (Im a private employee) get higher take home pay, that, however will in turn become supplements to impending price increases of goods and public transport that we cant do without. Rich wont bother, because they have private cars, higher budget on foods and goods. But for us, it more like break even.

On cars, cars priced at 4M and up vehicles are cheaper. These segment are for the rich, and poor man's segment gets increases.

What they could have done is too increase penalties on tax evasion and smuggling. Increase taxes for the top 10% on the rich list.

I remember when he says that it was a waste of money. And then later on says that he will buy more of it.

His actions on AFP seems to be calculated on how the AFP will react on:
    1. PH being soft on China-related matters
    2. DU30 being soft on Communism/NPA

If only for Digong's soft stance on China and his continued forcing on the Philippines-China pairing, his term would be bearable.

Honestly I see no national impact on his presidency. Most are miniscule or as most would term "LGU"-level.

We call them China boys and they are already doing that. Not really jobs but a lot of businesses are facing stiff competition from mainland guys who have seemingly endless resources. They few I've talked to have said it is much easier to do business here than back home.

AFAIK, these were rifles supposedly smuggled by a security agency which, in turn, used the import license of a FA dealer.

Then our filipino businessmen are in trouble. Maybe things are getting more strict back home thats why they decided to come here.

I worked with these guys for years in a nearby country. Most of them will only approach you when they need you. But when you need them, goodluck. And theres the language barrier. Only the educated ones know how to speak english. But still those guys speak terrible english. Lol

Btw i posted this here because only in digong’s term did i see a “proliferation” of this people. They seem to be everywhere.

I can see a lot of Chinese in Makati. Most them being serviced by a fleet of heavily tinted Toyota Alphard. Whats suspicious is the security detail placed on them. They dont seem to speak english at all. A friend of mine who knows how to speak mandarin told me that these people are from mainland CHina, and basically rural province of China, and they work as an analyst here.

Im thinking if they have valid work permits here.

erm, wasn't he recently ranting about some logging companies owned by the Consunjis? They've since stated that they don't own any businesses engaged in logging.

Agree. Although I've seen them around since Pnoy's term, there seems to be heck of a lot more of them now. Most can't speak english but a lot of them can speak basic Tagalog already.

PH as a province of China? Wishful thinking. More likely they'll take what they can get, then bahala na kayo sa buhay nyo. A lot of that going on these days.
