sir question ulit regarding sa lakas ng makina ng patrol, may nagsabi kasi sakin na underpower daw dahil sa bigat ng kaha nito. sabi ko naman wala pa naman ako nababasa dito sa tsikot na umangal sa makina ng patrol. pero i want to hear directly from the patrol owners. please give me feedback. thanks!

one more question, what is the difference between "Presidential Edition" with the normal one? is there a difference as well on price? how can i tell if it is a genuine Presidential edition?

Presidential Edition looks just like the later '04-'05 models but still without 4x4.

I came from a Pajero and my alternate vehicle is an 80hp Mercedes so it's definitely not underpowered for me. Maybe if you grew up driving a sports car all your life.

During emergency calls I can reach 140kph++ crossing underneath the Quezon Avenue underpass.

Correction, it's PRESIDENT EDITION and not PRESIDENTIAL edition.

same here... I don't find it underpowered as it has the power to bring the car to speed. What most people observe though is it lacks the low end grunt of a Safari/Land Cruiser mainly because it's a 3.0L engine that relies on the turbo for power as compared to it's predecessor/contemporary which have 4.2L stump-pullers.

    Nope.

Is it 4x4 "out of the casa'? or just owner installed/upgraded.
    tnx
    Casa installed 4x4.

Apparently 3 variant ang lumabas na Patrol nung 2003 - 4x2, 4x4 (with the goodies - DVD/MP3/VCD HU and LCDs sa headrest, and the president edition.

di ba sya matagtag? ito na ba yung presidential edition? ganyan sana ipapalit ko sa pajero fm '03 ko e. kaso walang available and i needed a ride asap, so i settled to fortuner nalang. downgrade nga sa unang ride ko pero ok lang. hopefully next year makabili ako. also, magkano mo naavail? sensya na matanong...pero interesado talaga ako sa super safari presidential edition. di malaki ang depreciation ng patrol?

[SIZE=3]Hello, this is my first inquiry. Recently got a 2000 patrol and initially quite satisfied with it. I noticed that there seems to be kalampag in the rear area, sounds like its coming from the spare tire. I seem to recall that there was a recall of sorts to fix the problem but that was ages ago.

Another observation was that it seems to be terribly underpowered. I have read quite a bit of stuff on this forum regarding tweaks and things to check. May i know how to go about it and if someone can refer me to a decent mechanic.

    Thanks in advance!

It also was one of the first models that had a smaller engine oil capacity. Is there anything else I would need to look out for?

Here's how to remedy the rear sound:
    1. realign the weatherstrips of the rear door
    2. Loosen the spare tire bolts a bit. Too much tightening causes the tire carrier to rub against inner panel at its attachment inside. Check the spotwelds also because they might have gotten loose

With regards to your underpoweredness, clean your MAF sensor with contact cleaner

Be on the lookout for your alternator which might start giving you problems like undercharging, etc. CASA will try to fool you into changing the whole alternator itself. You just have to change the motor brushes and everything will be back to normal

Try driving without a rear tirecover first. The initial batch of rear tirecovers (like the one I have) makes a hollow sound when traversing rough terrain.

This was later replaced with a revised tirecover.

And yes, the rear weatherstrips can wear out also.

As for power, I changed the two fuel filters and air cleaner with original Nissan Parts.

The MAF also has to be cleaned. Just backread a bit.

Ilang Amperes ba dapat ang output ng alternator ng patrol? And saan ok magpapalit ng motor brushes?

^^ try asking speedlab (along quezon avenue, tapat ng pegasus). they (people like autoxer) have lots of knowledge on turbo and should be able to help you out on that should you chose to buy that patrol.

...unfortunately anything about turbo/intercoolers, the word "affordable" might not necessarily be applicable

    beefcake

REY'S ELECTRICAL in Marikina (also ZEE or CRUVEN in quezon city) can do alternator brush replacement.

If you trust your local roadside electrician, kaya rin niya yan (it is not rocket science).

if i may ask, why would you buy a patrol that has a problem?
you know what one service advisor from the CASA told one owner of a patrol having turbo/intercooler problem? "Benta nyo na lang sir..." or something to that effect because obviously, mahal ang pagpapalit, hindi na yata na-repair, that is if you can find a replacement outside casa. also, good quality and affordable, don't usually come hand in hand, either one lang po usually.

so unless you're buying that 01 patrol for a song, pass ka na lang muna and check on other fresher units. kung type mo talaga, canvass ka po muna ng intercooler/turbo from casa or sa mga suggestions nila dito, then add that up sa selling price, then add the headaches & time & hassles involved, kung mababa pa rin po lumalabas na price, then go for it.
pwede ka rin mag-member muna ng Nissan Patrol Club of the Phils yahoo group and get the actual patrol owner's opinions as well.

btw, usual na cause daw ng intercooler turbo problem is hindi nag-co-cool down ang turbo after a long drive, so pag nakakuha ka ng patrol, pakabitan mo po ng Turbo Timer. or kung makakita ng ng unit na meron ng nakakabit na turbo timer, chances are, alaga yong turbo ng unit na yon

Sir, between OME and bilsteins, which performs better for comfort riding on a patrol? Thanks.

Parang nabasa ko before, OME for comfort. Matigas yata konti yong Bilstein. There's also the Rancho na adjustable to tune in to your desired riding comfort.
I just have no actual experience, kasi ok pa naman stock shock ko, nasanay na rin sa medyo matagtag na ride(compared to a sedan).
