both the hybrid and the manual hubs have their own pros and cons. oem hybrid hubs cost more than 34K while manual ones like the AVM should be in the 10K range.

OTEP - pag auto hubs ba nagdidisengage pag nag back and forth ka? un ba ung ibig mong sabihin sa sinabi mo?
shifting to 2H and driving to the opposite direction will unlock the hubs if it's in auto. it won't disengage if it's in lock mode.

yun bang nasa pajero na front hubs, auto ba un o hybrid kasi so far un palang ang naexperience ko na 4x4
oem hubs of pajero are the automatic ones.

111prez - ung sa pajero kasi namin laging 40 psi lang e, overinflated o underinflated ba un? nakakabawas ba sa fuel consumption pag overinflated?
40psi is kinda high but still ok for a suv with big tires. the recommended psi for patrol is 32psi front and 36psi rear. mine is 30-32psi for both front and rear.

skylineGTR -- yung gulong ko pala ay pirelli scorpion II, hindi yung stock. i tried 35psi before pero napansin ko parang kulang ang hangin talaga

as for the OME shocks, i believe it improved the ride. kaya lang wala talaga akong comparison sa kotse kasi i have always been an SUV user.

Auto hubs are disengaged by backing up the vehicle a few meters or so with the shifter in 2H. However, some off-road maneuvers CAN inadvertently disengage the auto hubs even when in 4H or 4L. There is a caution for this stated in the owner's manuals of auto hub equipped vehicles. Ang masakit pa dito, if it only disengages partially and you move forward, the gears will get crushed. We think that's what happened to kimpOy's Strada's hub when we were ascending Hi-Peak in Zambales. That's why manual or positive locking (hybrid) hubs are the weapons of choice of hard core off-roaders.

The Pajero does not have freewheeling hubs for the simple reason that it never freewheels the front axles. The front axle is always turning with the tires whether in 4x2 or 4x4 mode (think of it as permanently locked hubs). Selecting 4x4 just sends power to the front wheels. It has a central axle disconnect system for 4x2 mode.

    timing gear ang patrol.

you will need more than a shifter to make the patrol 4wd. you will also need a propeller shaft, front locking hubs, and a relay for the 4wd indicator light in the instrument panel. all of these costs around 90K, including installation at Hummer Phils. don't know kung bumaba na ang price ngayon.

for oem 4wd kit, it will cost you above 120K, i think.

Kung hindi OEM yong shifter ok ba ang itsura? Ilang araw ang installation?

Auto Hublock na ba yong sa Hummer Phils.? Balak ko sana DIY nalang.May nabibili bang parts na kelangan para maging 4x4 beside Hummer Phils?
Ito na ba ang pinaka mura? Thanks.

manual (AVM) locking hubs yung sa Hummer Phils.

dati gusto ko rin mag DIY. pero wala akong makitang shifter. and magkaiba pala yung front hubs ng GQ and GU. magkaiba ng number of teeth dun sa spindle, forgot which one had more. yung prop shaft madali lang naman magpafabricate, just make sure na naka balance para hindi nagkaka vibration at high speed.
