i cant remember the last time i changed my fuel filters,how often should i do this? yup i drained the water from the water separator when i arived home..thanks

nissan recommends to change the fuel filters every 20K kms.

boybi, they are in for a big surprise. the last time we asked it cost around 15k to replace both the lights. will try to ask if 1 piece lang kung pwede and how much. but will have to order it from land down under.

are those lights exclusive only for ARB bumpers?

*aviator, just check the classified section of the manila bulletin. we will be getting an '05 m/t, with only 5,400 kms. (still has warranty), which was advertised there.

from my understanding yes, its because of the design ng holder sa rear. but pwede rin custom made na lang. but hindi naman ikaw naka basag, yun lang kawawa ang talyer. paano na basag?

Are you guys using 'cargo net' or something on your Patrol? Hate to have those baggages hit me in the head when braking hard. I'm looking for one but i don't think there are provisions where these should attach.

So, i'm looking for an aluminum roof rack instead. I'm guessing these would be easier to install than cargo net. Anybody knows someone selling, or if a shop fabricates these?

bro -- i am pretty happy with the conversion they made. it's value for money. however i suggest that you check it personally para you can judge for yourself. hindi ko pa nakita ang conversion sa casa o i have no basis for comparison. but i would suppose the case will use original seats so the quality is better. but with it comes too the steep price. i find the conversion by seatmate to be the more reasonable alternative since i dont use the third row seats that much. by the way, the conversion by seatmate is only for seats. walang third row seat belts na kasama. i would suppose that sa casa its the complete package, i.e. seats and seatbelts


the conversion takes about a four days. they first manufacture the seats (about 3 1/2 days) then after manufacture, you go back and they will install the seats with installation taking about 3 hours

Good pm again sirs, I inquired about the MAF sensor/ check engine light a few pages back of this thread. And finally, I convinced my dad to finally go to the casa and hook the patrol up with the CONSULT-II.

Here is our tale...

Backgrounder:
We reside in Quezon province, in the near vicinity of Villa Escudero…
The unit is a 2001 Nissan Patrol 3.0 M/T…

Date: March 07, 2007
Total Expense: P 16,000++

We went to Nissan Southwoods, Lipa City, to have engine checked since there is a problem with the check engine light, it turns on when 3500rpm is reached and loss of torque is experienced. The service/maintenance area of Nissan Southwoods is operated by Rapide. So we went on to replace all the filters and the oil, and have the hoses of the turbo system check, so as to detect leaks, the service advisor “found” a leak and said that the cause of the grime below the intercooler is a busted/bulging hose connector (5K Pesos), they told us that cleaning the intercooler and replacing and tightening the hoses of the turbo system would do the trick, luckily the light went out, we went home thinking that our check engine light problem was solved… but after a day of driving, it went back this time the light goes on immediately after turning on the ignition.

We returned the unit to Nissan Southwoods Lipa to have the unit check…again… After 30 mins of tinkering and re-cleaning… they finally gave up and said the sensors are the culprit, they also told us that we must bring the unit to their main branch, Nissan Southwoods in Carmona, since the diagnosis tool (CONSULT-II) that would point out the busted sensor is located there.

Date: March 12, 2007

The first thing I did when I woke up was to call up Nissan Southwoods in Carmona to inquire the price and availability of the MAF sensor (since I was advised by fellow tsikoteers and really believe that this the culprit why the check engine light turns on), a sales staff answered the phone and told me that yes they have the MAF sensor and it costs P8,760. I also asked if the CONSULT-II is in their possession, since I was told that all Nissan dealers share the use of this gadget, they told me that it is with Westgate in Alabang, but they are willing to get it if I would be bringing our unit for diagnosis. I told them I would, and we will be there before lunch time.

We arrive in Carmona at about 11pm, CONSULT-II was hooked up with the Patrol w/c confirmed that the MAF sensor is busted, and should be replaced.

But here is another side of the story, our visit in Nissan Southwoods in Carmona produced disappointment, especially with my dad, after opening the bonnet, and seeing the condition of the engine, the mechanic quickly noted/advised that our unit should be sold immediately after we replaced the sensor, since there is already a leak in the turbo system (both snail and inter cooler), and it will definitely cause us headaches...to qoute him...(pagkakita palang sa engine)... "Tsk,tsk,tsk…Sir pagkapalit nyo nitong sensor, ibenta nyo na kasi, sabog na ang turbo!"---very "encouraging" remark coming from a "service advisor/mechanic"!!!(It's like going to a hospital and the doctor tells you that "we have to amputate your leg but you're gonna die anyway!)Tough luck!---They could at least gave us or suggested some options so that the problem with the turbo system be remedied... but they gave none and instead advised us to sell our Patrol. So, I ask them if the turbo can be repaired/cleaned, and they said "Ndi na sir yan marerepair… mahirap sir yan… sakit nalang ng ulo...(very vague answers coming from a nissan/rapide "mechanic"... I assumed rapide din yung mga tao sa Nissan Southwoods in Carmona, since all their service area both in San Pablo City and Lipa City are operated by rapide). With the comments and replies I got, I know there and then that I came to the wrong place and maybe they are not trained to service/repair turbo systems...

With my dad, discouraged and I, disappointed... since noone in the service area offered possible solutions with our turbo system (and keeps on whining about the flaws of our engine, and how big headache it would become, if we wouldn’t let go of the unit after the “temporary patch”). We still opted to replace the sensor, thinking that we will seek a turbo system speacialist and ask for a second opinion… To my surprise the service advisor told us that it would cost P31,000, for the whole assembly (I was beginning lose my temper by this time) I told him that only the sensor is to be replaced, and we don’t need the whole assembly, surprised by my answer, he went on to reason out that “ dati kasi sir nung nag palit kami, sira na rin yung assembly kaya ganun din ang binigay kong price sa inyo, check ko sir kung magkano yung sensor…sabay alis.” (sira yung assembly eh plastic top intake cover yun, pano masisira agad-agad yun, …by this time 4 mechanics are looking at the engine and still goes on with their “discouraging remarks”) After 10 mins, the SA came back and told us that the sensor costs P8,800(may mark-up na 40 pesos, pang yosi siguro… ) but unfortunately they have none on stock!!! HA??!!! I told him that before we went there, I called their parts department to check for availability of the sensor, and their staff replied the affirmative, and now they are telling me there is none on stock!!!! The SA looked shocked and told me, “Wait lang sir, check ko lang po…” and he never returned… It was his mechanic that told us that they have none on stock.

So I told my dad that we should leave because the people in that place is really getting into my nerves… but we cannot since we thought that we will be needing a gate pass to present to the guard, so we waited for almost 15mins, and I decided to walk around the service area. I found our “very accommodating” SA talking to another client(he also saw me by this time)… I waited, because I do not want to butt-in in their conversation, but after waiting for almost 10mins, I lost my temper…I told him…”Alis na kami, wala pala naman kayong stock…(still in a calm way)” He approached my dad and me and told us that if we want, he could order the sensor for us but we should give a down payment…(to hell with him!!!!) I said, I will just call you if ever we decided to order the sensor… we left…
No way! You will never receive a single peso from us again!!! After the treatment your people showed us… NEVER!!!



So, sirs, I may be wrong to doubt their diagnosis…
I may have been too sensitive to the frank/discouraging remarks of their mechanics…
I may be biased and still believes that our turbo system can be repaired…
but I guess we deserve better and shouldn’t be treated the way we were treated yesterday…
options to solve our problem should have been laid out and explained before us…
talk of customer service and customer satisfaction huh?…

So again, I would want to seek your advice… anyone of you know how would I go about our problem? May ma rerecommend po ba kayong speacilist for Nissan Patrol turbo system?

Why is it that anything associated with Rapide seems to be a source of hypertension?

You're a bit far from where I am but Nissanbayan.com peeps seem to favor Nissan North EDSA (in Balintawak). That's also where we had our Nissan Sentre serviced. Now that the Sentra is owned by my uncle, it is still under the care of NNE.

The ZD30 should not give up that easily. I'd venture to say that the mechanics at the Nissan dealer you went to do not have the proper training or are just too lazy to work on your engine. The ZD30's are used in harsher conditions in Australia and in the Middle East. A lot of Nissan Patrol touring wagons (used for touring the Outback) in Oz have ZD30 power though they still kept the TD42 available for those who favor old school engines.

Milford makes cargo barriers for the Patrol. I don't know if anyone sells them locally but they sell a ton of these in Oz. Milford also claims that their cargo barriers are tough enough to act as a structural support in the even of a rollover. There is also a built-in escape system on their cargo barriers.

Nissan Balintawak & Nissan Mantrade are the ones i hear na highly recommended kung casa. Though personally, i go to Nissan Balintawak.

I only go to Nisan Ortigas for stencil

So you might want to schedule a visit. Pag kelangan na talaga ibenta, ayus lang yan madami pa naman mabibiling kapalit...unlike body parts, konti lang nagbebenta, di pa OEM

Pero mahal nga yata yong turbo system according to mga posts sa Nissan Patrol egroups at 4x4ph, kung replacement lang talaga and solusyon.

* avaiator, got the patrol yesterday, so far so good. i checked the manila bulletin this morning, there was an '05 patrol advertised for 1.580, mileage is high at 43,500. good luck with your search.
