Nissan Manual tells me to use API CF-4 when its not even recommended for EGR-equipped vehicles..

Im no expert on this but from what i understand reading the materials from API, ACEA, Lubrizol:
ACEA E7 = API CI4 mid drain
ACEA E9 = API CJ4 high drain
ACEA B4 - low drain, mas malaki ang sapot sa wear based on graph..hehe
The performance levels doesnot explicitly indicate exclusivity of use(gas or diesel), modern synthetic oils are somehow hybrid can be used either..
ACEA E9/ API CJ4 are designed for ULSD 15ppm. Using this to our high sulfur diesel will cause heavy oil fouling w/c translates to frequent oil changes.
Regarding interval of oil change, I think theres no much difference using Mobil1 TDT from Motul CRDI because 10k kms recommendation is a safe assumption for Euro2 diesel in a tropical region. Ive heared in other countries using Euro4 and having cleaner air are going up to 20k kms between oil changes. The only advantage i could see with motul is the much tolerance to fouling from high sulfur diesel that makes it last longer, plus the extra wear protection..Although Mobil1 TDT indicates its CI4 and CJ4, this could only mean they are backward-compatible..but then again drain-interval is short when used in our fuel.
So choosing oil greatly depends on:
- Fuel Quality
- Emission control attached to vehicle
- Climate/ Temperature/ Air quality or pollution
Nakakalito nga..But when it comes to oils-diesels-fuels i trust the europeans.. Also i stick to the rule that good oils are expensive while cheap oils ar crap. With the somuch BS in our Government, I dont think we can get advantage using high specs oils even get to Euro4 untill 2020. Basta ako im after the wear protection, bahala na sila sa soot at carbon, ilang buwan nalang tatakpan kona ang EGR with stick..haha..
Meron daw fake na Motul??
