but if you try to pry the original undercoating, you'll notice that the under chassis has been coated at least 3 times. it's easy to identify since its layered. so basically, there's no need to rust proof it again.

but for those few who wants to burn money, believe on the marketing gimmicks and wants to ensure that there's a 3mm thick rust proofing agent on their chassis then by all means go ahead. have your car rust proofed...(again).

i did some research regarding undercoats. Ang undercoats pala is actually different from rustproofing, so undercoats do not really have rust proofing abilities. Some say that wrong application may lead to rust.

and I've read na merong Electronic rustproofing ang newer cars today. Is this true? Does it really work against rust?

assuming your car won't meet in accident that might involve your chassis or some alteration like welding jobs on your chassis, your chassis will last without having problem with rust.

our surplus trucks with most of them having nearly more than 15 years of service combine (japan and philippines) doesn't have rust problem that much. some of the rust accumulated are just superficial.

but as i said earlier, if anybody want to make sure then have it rust proofed.

navara ko 2 years old only, but it has 74,000 km under its belt. medyo some rusts are forming na sa front bumper (yung steel part beneath the plastic bumper cover), and also some parts at the rear of the chassis. this is the 1st time this has happened to one of my vehicles, pero this is also my 1st nissan, so maybe nissan factory rust proofing isn't that good? makes me regret not taking it to ziebart's when t'was new

sir, do you constantly drive your 2 year old nav on long trips? exposed ba lagi sa rain/baha?

I think rust formation depends on the condition where your nav is constantly exposed to.

    so far wala naman problema.

got my clutch lining burnt yesterday.

i was negotiating an almost impassable road (at least for pick-ups) and it was too late for me to back-off. i managed to get through but with the price of damaging my clutch lining.

on my way home, i felt the lost power and the smell of burnt lining have entered the cabin.

Sir a/t ba yung sa inyo? Kinabahan ako sa kwento mo, nangamoy na rin kasi clutch ko one time, too much tire slippage trying to negotiate a very steep, wet incline. Is one episode of this enough to damage the lining?

    ^ A/T doesnt have clutch.

Hmm..Another busted DMF clutch. I wonder how will nissan address this problem.

Minus 2 for Nissan, i still have pending protest regarding my leaking coilover.

Bro, sa burning tire yan dahil nag sslide cya may friction which produces heat which produces the foul/burnt smell.

    manual bro.

sh*t happens! as per nissan's, the damage would not be covered by warranty anymore since the broken part belongs to consumables and vehicle is nearly 2 years old with 21k mileage.

    cost of damage (excluding labor)

    presseure plate 17k
    clutch lining 12k
    release bearing 2.5k

lessons learned: our nav is a light duty 4x4 vehicle and if all the wheels get stuck or buried more than half of the tire's diameter with differential also stuck in the earth, chances are the clutch lining will be busted.

Parang iba kasi bro yung amoy, medyo similar to nangamoy na clutch on a manual. You're probably right. Masubukan nga magpa-spin on a level road. Maamoy ulit hehe.

Sir you have nothing to worry burning tires since yours is AT.
Usually kung sliding clutch or warped flywheel, you could smell burning asbestos(amoy brake ng bus) even on cruising speed, noticeable loss of power, sometimes judder.

Your next upgrade should be single mess flywheel baka hindi kinaya dahil sa chips mo..lolz

Whoa! F*ck! Nissan warrenty, the obvious weak part never gets replaced..

+1, di kinaya ng clutch system mo yung "new power" from the chip. single mass flywheel is the way to go (as per clubfrontier's threads).

had mine rustproofed at CRVI a few days ago. I got a super deal from my SA. PM me for the price. My SA begged me not to disclose it in public.

I bought 10 boxes of baking soda, opened the boxtops and carefully laid them all inside the cabin. It's been 4 days, mabantot pa din.

RUSTPROOF to protect you truck from kalawang Vs Stock with leather scent-fresh smelling interior?

Is it worth it? At the rate I'm using my truck, sigurado naman di ako aabot sa 76k kms.. pero andyan na yan eh. Amoy karpentero na tuloy si Brutus.
