regarding steering wheel, you can always wrap it with leather. arm rest is available in higher model strada.
Regarding the back seat, yes, I agree with sir av8or5 that the strada has the most comfortable back seat due to its reclined state which will be most appreciated during long drives. My GLS Sport has a backseat armrest. I didn't know that this feature is not found in the GLX variant.

On the face-lifted strada, based on the steady stream of trickling info, it may be worthwhile to wait for it if it's not a bother to wait for about a month. To some this may the longest one month that they will encounter in their lifetime, hehehe.

hi av8or, thanks for the advice, actually re the steering wheel, i already that in mind, covering it with leather with double stitching and everything. problem solved. i am most concerned with the backseat. you are right, the strada has the most comfortable one among the other pickups, and it will be not right to compare it sedans. i just hope that someone in this forum will post the actual 2010 Strada cause i want to know what i'm waiting for. thanks again.

Sir locoroco777, From repairs done to your truck, is it the majority of problems encounterd by other strada owners here on their steering assembly?

From the pic's I see, isn't it the steering wheel height adjuster cv joint or cross joint that was making the odd sound?

This issue has been bothering me from choosing the strada over the navara & d-max...

I think we had the same situation. here's what the casa did.

first they removed the steering wheel to expose the airbag. My mechanic said that the airbag was very sensitive that's why he really needs to be careful when removing it.

    here's the pic

    here's another view

after the removal of the steering column inside the cabin

    here's what it looks like

and then this is what the steering column looks like after being remove from the cabin.

noticed that the tilt adjuster is positioned at the bottom of the pic. just to give you an idea on how it is placed inside the cabin.

all in all there is nothing major about this defect according to the SA its just that the annoying sound is being produce when you turn the steering wheel that's all.

Just a little advice sir, if ever you already set to get it fixed to the casa
do come early because its going to eat a lot of time. like in my case I got in at around 9am I went out 2pm. its just happen that our house is kinda near from the casa that I was able to take lunch at home and go back there after. di na kinaya ng powers ko hehe..

but the good thing is that it is covered by the warranty so I won't have to pay for anything..... I just tipped my mechanic that's all.

    hope it helps!

please do update us on your unit and I hope it all goes well!

The SA thinks its the SCV in relation to dirty fuel, but since no trouble code came out, he wants to make sure it's really the problem. So, I'll just bring back my truck when I'm free again. Ingat muna ako sa pag-oovertake.
Just had a similar experience with my Strada. I thought may sira ang turbo, nasa fuel injector daw. Good thing it was covered by the warranty. The culprit could either be dirty diesel or factory defect. After Diamond Motors replaced the part, ok na ulit ang takbo. Better stick to the big 3 i guess.

Thanks Ooba... the GLX has an armrest at the backseat, something that is lacking infront. I am one of the many Strada addicts waiting for the facelifted model. I need advice though, should i issue a check for it na or should i wait until it is already confirmed that my unit is already available. I already paid a reservation fee.

hmmm... if you feel that the queue for this model will pile up as heavy as the Montero Sport, you might want to go right ahead with that cheque so that the SA will push for your reservation ahead of the rest of your ka-pila... hehehe

otherwise, since you have paid the reservation fee already, that is already the burden of proof of your interest to acquire the unit...

if you have time, drop by the casa again and feel your instincts of the SA and the people around there of what is best for you... good luck, sir.

Sir nanofossil, if you can wait for one long month (hopefully 1 month lang), I highly suggest and advice to wait for the face-lifted strada. There's nothing like owning the freshest strada variant around.

Tapos sir sali ka sa amin para inggitin kami, este, i-share pala kung anu-ano upgrades, hahaha. Pasensya na sir nanofossil, palabiro talaga kami. Seriously, join us sa club.

Take it from me... with my fat+tall structure, the rear bench was comfortable enough for me. i enjoyed my backseat trips in long distance from Baguio-Manila-Baguio and Manila-Subic. I didn't get that "cramped-leg" feeling and i didn't take in Flanax!

it is still worth the wait for the upcoming 2010 strada... as always, wait and see mode tayo...

I still remember Eslonblue among others in the 2nd EB (Feb 2008) when he was the first one to get the Strada GLS Sport for 2008 with the 17-inch rims. Everyone was very eager to see the updates from the 2007 model. As the 2010 model comes, we will be in that state of mind again...

hi sir! here's what I could share to your questions...

Afaik we all have the same steering problems....but IMO I wouldn't cosnder it a problem actually because it does not affect any major thing that contributes to the total drivability of our truck its just that on sensitive ears like mine and some of the others its really kinda annoying when you hear something like the tonking sound when you turn the steering wheel.

from the pic below I have labeled the clamp that my mechanic placed about 2 weeks before the fix was done...so I guess that's where the sound is coming from. di ko na rin binusisi, I was just happy na nga kasi the sound was gone when the column was repalced.

if this issue is bothering you, think again sir, hehe, this can be remedied easily and immediately as parts are already on stock at the dealerships for warranty claims, same goes with the other strada issues like the squeaking leaf spring etc., So I'd rather be worrying about the un-knowledgeable service centers that cannot fix the smelly aircon , burnt clutches and early smoke puking:peace:

Hey guys, can somebody tell me where i can find within metro manila a dealer which has a strada pickup displayed in their showroom? I went to several ones but no strada. I just want to feel the backseat cause that's the only thing that worries me. As much as I believe in the several testimonies of strada owners, i would like to feel it for myself. Thanks a lot!

hi sir, lets wait for response of the others based in Manila... better yet, you might want to do the calling and find out before going there...

i'm not too sure to which dealer has one remaining... considering that their inventory might consist of other models... especially the MS...

otherwise you might want to drop by the EB at metrowalk at 8pm tonight onwards. as you join us, you can sit in and perhaps joyride in one of the trucks... HTH.
