bro, just attend the mini-EBs and you'll know what shops are recommended by the club... and yes, may mga instance na low quality HIDs na nasusunog

Tama na planning! Buy na agad hehe

But seriously, we do hope you'd get one as soon as possible. You can join any mini-eb that comes up even without your unit yet so that you can meet the group.

Silver na lang para "cool" hehe (halata bang biased?)

Hello sir wulf_geo, thank you very muck for your straight-forward personal review of your new strada. Your post will surely get some responses from other strada owners.

I have 2 questions to ask though. For what reason/s did you buy your Strada? What made you finally decide to buy the pick-up truck? Your reply to these 2 questions will help other readers to understand better the last segment of your post under “BOTTOM LINE”. Thanks.

I just had my first long road trip from Cagayan de Oro to Bacolod City and back. My unit is a 3.2 GLS Sports, 2 weeks old. Just wanna share my experience for your evaluation, future reference, and feedback.

The road to Bacolod via Dapitan-Dumaguete is a typical Philippine road- asphalt, gravel, paved, and lubak-lubak here and there. a nice way to test the performance of the new strada on all aspect.

    The Good:

    1. Power/Torque - superb! i conquered the road.
    2. Acceleration - no sweat overtaking.
    3. Speed - 140Kph no brainer. i still have to observed speed limit during break-in.
    4. Climate Control - beat the heat of summer
    5. Multi-Info Display - functional and very informative. Ave FC 10.3km/L
    6. Rear Window - food and drinks easily witin reach.
    7. Cup Holders - aplenty
    8. Cabin Space- roomy

    The Bad:

    1. Seats- large for a typical pinoy. No thigh support. Seats too low. Firm cushion
    2. Cargo Bed - small
    3. Suspension - the 2000-2005 model is better.
    4. Steering - I can feel all the road imperfections/ bumps transmitted to the steering wheel. damn, what a very uncormfortable ride on rough roads. my arms shakes like crazy.
    5. Handling - compromised! the vehicle swerve when it hits bumps and potholes. probably interconnected with steering mechanism issues.
    6. Road Safety - questionable. i had at least 3 near mishaps when the vehicle swerves/sways and almost lost control.

    BOTTOM LINE:

The strada is fun to drive but when safety and handling is compromised, confidence and the pleasure of driving is lost.

I dont know if mine is an isolated case, i still have to bring this to the attention of our dealer. but i heard some owners complaining over the same issues. A simple analysis of this handling and steering issue could be link to the steering gearbox mechanism - the wheel does not firmly stay in place when it hit bumps and potholes causing it to turn sideways thus the steering wheel vibrates/jerks left-right and the vehicle swerves. I immediately drove several other cars and compared it to the strada's. with my dad's captiva, i can hold the steering wheel with one finger even on roagh roads, same with our frontier and my uncle's revo. there's really something wrong with my steering mechanism.

Please examine your units and hope to hear your feedbacks.

    many thanks...

planning to replace our pick up, pero stick nalang siguro kami sa 2003 namin, when it comes to steering.,isa lang masasabi ko, ang SARAP! ma pa semento, asphalt or rough no compromise at all.

the bad bit: the body rattles lalo na sa maliliit na bato, parang nakukuryente.

Sir ThePatriarch & Drave, I installed the OME two weeks after I got my unit just to have a comparison of the stock & the OME. Replaced all four shock absorbers & the front coil springs. I would say there is a 25% improvement in the ride comfort. Primary reason I changed the front springs is to be able to fit the MT 265x70x17. Needed the 10mm height adjustment that the springs gave and for a firmer ride on the front so on turning the front part wont dip which would cause the MT's to hit the wheel well. After another two weeks on the OME I added the greasable shackles at the rear lift springs which to my assessment gave a substantial car like confort on the highway especially on those sudden dips in the pavement. Contact person at RATS 4x4 (Makati) is Anton, tel no. 892-8537/812-2255.

    Thanks sir ooba99.

i'm a strada fan myself. my former ride is a 2001 strada and love everything in it especially ride comfort (on and off road), and i do brag about its sweet comfy ride. i sold my old ride to get the new and latest generation strada. i made just a little comparo with other trucks, my eyes are already set on the new strada primarily becoz of the positive lasting impression the strada had on me. The new strada should be better.

Sir nismo26 = Please check the tire pressure of your ride.. if you dont have any cargo load 32 PSI in front and 32 PSI at the back is enough. if you have haevy load at your cargo bed ex: 1000kg.. you can increase your back tire pressure to 42 PSI according to manual.. check at the drivers doors it written their. baka naman sobrang tigas ng rear tires mo so feeling dribling even a small humps..
