Strada GLS AT six weeks old with 1,500 kms run so far. Averaging 9.2 km/liter on daily commute combined city and hiway ( Paranaque / Ortigas / Makati / etc.) Relatively matipid considering malakas ang engine. Regularly hits 120 to 140 km/h where road conditions / traffic permit.

Matipid pa rin ang 1.3liter City or Jazz - considering that these small cars can do at least 15 km/liter combined city / hiway.

However comparing Strada with City is like comparing apples and oranges!

baka lang kasi na-offset na ng price diff ng diesel vs gas ang km/l advantage ng city/jazz.

I happen to own a honda jazz 1.3 CVT as well. I average with the jazz about 12 km/L mixed city and highway. I consume more than the average because I tend to push the accelerator more (para kasing bitin sa power). My strada MT consumption is 12km/L (walang bitin sa power). Same driver so same driving style. Since diesel costs less, mas matipid yata ang strada. There was a time that I was hitting 14-15 km/L at pure highway driving with the strada. Kaya ngayon, mas madalas kong gamitin ang strada

    Hi Drave,

Happy Holiday to you! Your fuel consumption is Lower compare to D4d. Is this manual computation or base on the trip meter? What is your fatest speed and
slowest? Is this pure city driving? Thanks.

    Best regards!
    Hi Drave,

You answered your own question really...as an optional 'extra' from Mitsubishi you can BUY the 'chip' to upgrade any of the 2.5 engines, however there has been a lot of discussion, amongst owners, as to whether the increase of power is detrimental to an already powerful engine. The 'heavy footed' and 'foot to the floor' drivers would obviously trash their engines in no time! The L200 owners club here in the UK is linked on my page3 (L200owners club.org)where it is discussed in far more detail. Everyone would WANT more power (me included!) but realistically it would not really be ESSENTIAL! In fact many 'Animal owners' took delivery of their new trucks earlier this year without the 'chip' as they were in short supply...and had to go back to get it fitted!!!

    Hi Larshell!

I live in San Pablo City, Laguna. So when I say mixed city and highway, I mean 30-40% provincial city and 60-70% highway. I go to manila about twice a week. If I want to hit 12km/L in my strada, I see to it that my fastest is only around 110-120kph and I go easy with the overtaking (madali itong gawin sa strada due to the adequate torque). Kung puro bira at minsan pinapaabot ko pa ng 140-160kph, ang kunsumo ko ay 10.5 to 11km/L, so not bad pa rin. Kung pure city naman mga 8.8-9.8km/L. This is from the trip meter. I tried manual computation before and the result was almost the same as the trip meter. Nagtataka nga ako sa tipid nito.

But I don't want to take anything away from the jazz especially regarding fuel consumption. I can hit 15-16km/L if I go easy with the acceleration and limit my speed to around 90-100kph. Pero inaantok ako kapag ganoon .

Baka nasobra ang tire pressure mo. Try to lessen it by 2psi if you're not fully loaded. Stock tires ako, i just put 25-27psi instead of the 29psi that is stated sa manual. Maganda naman bounce and ride pickup ko.

Ok lang cguro yan numbah5 as long as d masyado malaki difference pressure in each tire. Umiiba rin yan especially kung there is a change sa temperature. For me kasi i check before ko gamitin sa morning. Medyo mataas for me yang 30,31,29. Nasa 25,26 hanggang 27 lang ang sa akin. Matagtag na pag mga nasa 30. Good luck bro!

the TPMS that mitsu phils uses isn't 100% accurate,. i for one only use it as a rough guide for the actual pressure and to check if there's rapid deflation (yes, that's one time it does work as intended) and it's been 6 out of 6 instances so far, due to wayward nails/screws sa tire. :D

Iba nga ang dating nitong ride na ito! Tough, rugged and yet retains the smooth suspension from the previous model and with improved fuel efficiency. Spacious cabin kaya di problema ang leg room ng pasajero sa likod. Although I agree with Doc Otep's observations about the back seat that should have been elevated.

    salamat po sa lahat
Got my GLS AT at Diamond Motors Valle Verde ( Mitsu 5 ) last November and service is good - so far. Got the plates as promised inside of two weeks and fast / efficient service during first 1,000 km service last month. Account Manager who serviced me was Patrick Pineda. Ok sya.

Don't know about mitsu makati ( Citimotors? ) On freebies there shouldn't be any substantial difference. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO CONSIDER IS AFTER-SALES SERVICE ( AS WELL AS CONVENIENT LOCATION ).

Good luck with your Strada! I'm 100% satisfied with mine!

I've logged in around 5500 kms and still no problems so far. I also follow the 30psi tire pressure as recommended and I don't find the ride bumpy even when riding at the back (comparing it with my previous frontier).

    Hi Drave,
Do you know of anybody with new Strada who has upgraded tires from 245x70 to 265x70, but still using the OEM 16 inch mags?
Am seriously considering this, and would want to know the pros and cons. Offhand, I think fuel consumption may slightly increase, but handling and ride should improve somewhat?
Based on info in the owner's manual 265x70 is probably an option in other countries.
    Thanks!

    Hey thumper!

I've been planning about this too. I think docglen was the first one to do this and you might want to ask him regarding performance. What I know is bigger and wider tires make for slower acceleration and higher fuel consumption due to larger diameter, greater ground contact area, and heavier weight. You may be able to neutralize those effects by replacing the oem wheels with lighter ones (forged would be best) but they are quite expensive. If you want the wide 265 tires and have the same diameter as the 245, you should look for the 65 series tires but these are hard to find. Bigger tires are more maporma and I guess the strada has more than enough power to turn those tires. IMO, there's actually little performance advantantage of larger tires if you use this mainly on the street. But it's another story in off-road.
