Hi Guys! Just want to warn about the spare tire in our stradas! Mine was stolen today or yesterday? ( Di ko kasi na notice eh, pero kahapon i was at park square 1 sa sm makati and today i was at tagaytay). Anyway, if you have chain w/ lock, try to put it na lang on the tires. Sabi kasi ng sales rep from Diamond baka "Donut Gang" Daw yun. Guys, Meron na bang nanakawan dito? Or Ako Pa lang? . . . Buti na lang sinagot okay sa insurance ko yung pagclaim ng stolen spare tire, nonetheless, i have to buy a spare tire today because i'll be getting the new tire by monday pa. Guys, just be prepared!

Ok Bros, thanks. I like the skid plate kung pwede nga lang bilhin ko lahat, e ang kaso its time to save some money for the kid's education. After all, skid plates talaga is for the protection of your vehicle aside from giving your rig aesthetic beauty di ba. THanks sir Bobcas and Sir Av8or5, you've been a great help.

Well, so far, I've learned to accept the fact that it's not a car, so the handling is very different. It's also not a racecar, though most of the time I'm tempted to use the power. The suspension is tweaked for comfort, therefore, there are corresponding drawbacks, as has been described, but can be remedied.

I've actually learned to adjust to its idiosyncracies, but I was never put in a situation that have placed my life in any danger in my 30k kms driving it. The only problem that I had was the steering column which was gladly replaced.

I still love her, in spite of.....

We are very open when it comes to our rides here. We give feedbacks, good or bad. But I would say that the majority love their ride.

I'm very happy that the pick-up brands are trying to outdo one another. It's the consumer who gains from it.

All the cards are on the table, bro, it's your choice.
Nicely said, sir Drave.

Your post spared us from looking and sounding like sales agents of mitsubishi, hehehe.

That's bad news, sir apollo_kafka. Buti na lang sagot ng insurance. Nevertheless, you still have some cash out for the participation fee, I guess.

There are already at least 2 other strada owners who posted here in the thread about their spare tires being stolen. I took no time to buy myself a bolt lock after I read them and it cost me P1,800.00 from carryboy. There are cheaper bolt locks available at C3 costing P1,200.00 but I'm not sure if it fits our stradas.

The chain lock is much cheaper but it does not offer much protection because it is easy to cut with a bolt cutter which thieves bring along with them when they operate. Such is the case with my friend's fortuner. He just left his ride for ten minutes, then the spare tire is gone. Naka chain lock sya.

So, advice ko sa fellow strada owners, invest in a bolt lock. The spare will be harder to steal with them on it.

Sad to hear about that sir apollo_kafka...but whats good to know is that you will get your spare from the dealer soon.

Mine took more than 4 months before the insurance was able to replace it. The excuse was wala pa daw available sa factory...and once it is available..waiting pa daw for delivery.

This is the thing which I got upset and frustrated about the insurance.

In anycase, sir Ooba99, can you show us how that bolt lock from carryboy looks like?

Agree.

one more thing, i still have my stock rims and tires (4 months used-4 pcs for glx model) and im willing to dispose them. puede din ito pampalit sa mga nanakaw na spare tire. if anyone is interested, PM me na lang

I think there's no steering and handling issue over previous batch of stradas. i've asked every strada owner iv met and theyv nothing to complain about it except one i found in this thread posted way way back. i dont know with the latest batch (mine included). the manager let me road test another brand new unit after i filed my complaint at local mitsu dealer and found out that the steering wheel vibration and handling is much worse than mine. hehehe. funny.

i still love my ride.. if im outside staring at it.

Sir DonT, find attached is the back cover of the the package of the carry tire lock showing the instruction to install the lock. Also attached are images of the bolt lock installed in my strada.

Note that aside from the bolt lock, sa sobrang pagkapraning, a wire lock (pang bisikleta) also secures the spare tire, for additional peace of mind, hehehe. Although alam naman natin for a persistent thief, kaya pa rin inenok itong tire ko. Pero mahirapan muna sya.

*thepatriarch- this is what i had in mind! keep one stock rim for your spare (para sosy ang spare mo ), then offer the 3 to the other GLX users para sosy ang spare rim nila... problem is on how to dispose the steel rim then... hehehehe!

*apollo_kafka- im sorry to hear about your issue. I know how you feel because some 4 years ago, the UNUSED Spare Tire of my Space Wagon was stolen in front of my aunt's house in Cubao, QC in broad daylight- pumasok lang ako sa bahay for 15 mins. just to get my bag to go back to Baguio- and before i knew it nakababa yung spare tire tray and the tire was gone! haiz! We have a traditional dog-chain and padlock (i spray WD-40 on the padlock just to be sure na removable sya despite its exposure to the elements) since it is the least i can do. But i'm starting to think otherwise about what Doc Ooba99 mentioned about his friend's Fortuner! yung kay RedHorse, he has a cable merged with a padlock- it looked like its something you can secure a mountain bike with! But despite this issue, i hope you are ok. Be Safe Bro!

BOSBs, kapag may nahuli kayo na attempting to take your spare tire, or any of your property for that matter, and sa tingin nyo kaya nyo naman... you can employ 'reasonable' force/violence sa perp. then you can make a citizen's arrest and bring the thief sa nearest police station. legal tip lang po...

Thanks for the legal tip, atty. but no thanks.

Those thieves do not operate singly and unarmed. Dalawa minimum sa operation na yan. Minsan me look-out pa. They usually bring with them either a bladed weapon or a gun.
