Hi guys, Just want to share my ordeal trying to buy a Monty... Well I had placed my order and paid the downpayment of Php1M and financed the rest just so I could get on the "priority" waiting list...

Waiting and waiting for around a month... I originally wanted a black unit but I was told there was a red unit available so I said go na coz I was considering the Sedona Red as my 2nd choice anyway... Next day, my SA calls me and says, Sir, we are offering a package for the accessories (cladding, LED side mirrors, grill, spoiler, etc.) especially for the Montero... Ok, I said, how much? P72K sir, all in...

Remember, this was a phone call and I haven't seen hair nor hide of the said accessories... I want to dress up my Monty but maybe not that much so I said, can you show me first? "It hasn't been installed on a unit yet, only a brochure is available..." I replied, "Let me think about it"...

Here's the kicker... I asked, "Can I just get the Monty first and then I can decide if I want to buy the accessories?" Sir, that can't be sir, you have to buy the package?" Huh??? WTF??? So the original P1.330M then becomes P1.402M??? I mean, I already paid for the car, financing has already been approved and they have the temerity to "hold" the unit hostage until I buy the accessories???

Is it just me, or do you think Mitsubishi and the dealers are becoming too abusive given the huge demand for their Monteros... I'm seriously thinking of having my downpayment refunded and taking my business elsewhere.... It's so frustrating! I didn't know buying a Mitsubishi could be so difficult... Sorry for the rant guys... If you can give me options or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

We have the same problem, sir. Ang sabi ng SA package na daw yung accessories worth P77, 600. Kamot nlng kami ng ulo. We even called another dealer and they are making the same scheme. Grrrr!!! In addition, yun na daw ang standard ngayon.

Oops... sorry. I misread the post, he quoted you, and what I saw is the quote with your name and then his reply. In any case, I might try what you did or probably jump to the polish immediately. When it rains hard, which I suspect will do so for the next few days, it's just too hard to see.

Sir although I change my wiper sometimes it still makes those irritating noise. maybe poor quality of rubber in the wiper blades or there is something wrong with my windshield.

no problem sir. i was able to contact them directly. paid only 700 pesos for the shipment of the rear spoiler via 2go - 1 day shipping. got it painted na from them so na install kaagad. thanks for the help.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try the Rain Away first before replacing the wipers. If problem persists, I'll change wipers to what you recommended. I don't know anything about wipers, but I'll just note Bosch Banana type (22 and 18).

Yup, that's what they said... Standard na daw yun ngayon... What's getting me is that you're "forced" to buy all the accessories... I was planning on just getting the grill and the LED mirrors, maybe the spoiler and that's it...

you may want to use RAIN AWAY made by turtle wax, less than P200 (can't remember) for a small plastic bottle which you can buy from ace, true value or handyman.

you may need to replace the wiper too. I got Bosch BANANA type and looks good on my monty and absolutely no rattling sound.

sir j*sto, what shop did you get your Bosch Banana type from? I was in Banawe a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find there the bosch banana. Almost all shops I went to said they are out of stock so I settled for another brand but these ones I got do not wipe well.

Yeah i do very much agree! It really surprised me how great a job the casa did for a measly 7t... Its like a whole different car but not really... Sorry the picture was far away, if you look closely you'll see the sideview mirror guards, and i know we can't tell, but there's no more rust!
Damn, looking at it.. you just really can't pinpoint what the casa did to your car ching.. but then you know there's something special about it compared to any of our monteros!

Due to our Montero selling like hot cake, the distributor are taking advantage on us.......that bad............

..got it from LA Cars, since i swap it with something that i bought from them before. Is your wiper (replacement) brand Sandoli? That one is made from china, much much cheaper than Bosch. I was supposed to get it too but had a second thought hence i took the germany made.

*fermontalban...i don't think rain away (alone) will remove the rattling sound. I believe that it is really a defect on the the cheap stock wiper. Rain away will help you use less your wiper or reduce the intermittent setting.

*djin_xxx...try getting a branded wiper like bosch. if you like the stock wiper design, bosch has that as well, much much cheaper than the banana type. try filling your windshield washer reservoir with a windshield washer fluid. not sure with the brand but it is made by shark phils (the one who supplies aftermarket stepboards, roof caddy, dashboard cover etc) and it is available from hardware shops. dilute it 50:50 as it is quite expensive (i think about P300). Never pour deep-well hardwater on it as it contains some minerals which may accumulate residues later.

Do's and Don't nga pala sa wiper. Never cut the wiper rubber blade just to make it fit. it has a thin layer of steel wire, which could damage your windshield, if not cut smoothly.

if you will replace the rubber, replace the whole wiper. cost difference is not that much, i think. sometimes the pressure towards windshield weakens and that may be the cause of poor wiping job.

sir stubby...you're asking the turtle wax Rain away too right? yup, i've been using that for several years now. i use it not only for the windshield but to all windows. it is a great protection against watermarks. 1 small bottle usually lasts for more than a year per unit.

pag ambon lang ang ulan, you don't even need to turn on your wipers. water droplets slides through the windshield, after that light rain, windshield remains clean and you can hardly notice that it had rained - no watermarks. apply it as often as you like. normally you use it only during rainy season hence a bottle for P99 (i think) is very much worth it.

i tried the other 2 brands (forgot the brand name, 1 is "as seen on tv", the other is packed in red carton box), but the turtle wax is the best. Elevo, has it also. I am using their glass cleaner (watermarks remover), and it works great too! This, you use for heavy watermarks only. Don't use too much as this is ammonia base and really designed for removing heavy stains.

The brand i got is Ustek, for Php500. The Bosch banana type (Areotwin) sells for Php1,500/pair in Banawe and Php1,600 in Ace or TrueValue Hardware. Ustek is from Taiwan, i think. Yup, I agree that rain away does a terrific job. I also apply it on my monty and I apply it on the front and rear windshields, front windows and side mirrors. But sometimes even if you have rain away, you can't avoid using the wipers especially when dirty water or floodwater is splashed on your windscreen by other passing vehicles.

yes, at least for a month after the last application. but it all depends on how heavy and frequent your use your car driving while raining. for a windshield, you only need less than 5 drops every application. Thin coating will do. But be sure to finish it with a microfibre cloth or pranela (will do, but kind a difficult), otherwise, you'll end up with some haze.
