Greetings To All Montero sports enthusiasts,
I have been reading this thread for the past weeks and it has been very informative. Also considering the fact of the long thread, Talagang maraming happy sa 2011 Montero Sport. I got my Black GLS-V last March 19, and I was very satisfied with the unit. Well, as an old school car enthusiast, I understand that there is no such thing as a perfect car or vehicle. But this new product of Mitsu really comes near that category. 4 days after I got the unit, I had to find a way (or justification) to drive it on the SCTEX. So I set an appointment with my farm consultancies (I'm a farm Veterinarian po.) in Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac. At a km. reading of 490,in the SCTEX, going to Sta Luisita, this gave me a chance to see how far this baby can cruise. Lo and Behold! I was hitting 180 km/h! I sensed that she has a bit more power to give, I touched the 190 mark once and slowly went back to 150-160 km/h. Wow! a vehicle of this category, and the price tag. It is really a very good bang for the buck!. Anyway, just to share my experience with the Monty,
But just a friendly reminder, always keep in mind to be VERY careful when you drive this fast.
More Power and God Bless!

sir hingi kayo ng quality report regarding your GT-V kasi yan problema ng VGT montero mausok tignan ninyo when you idle switch ninyo aircon ninyo makikita ninyo parang naninigarilyo idle ninyo for 10mins you will see.. same case with me marami na nagrereklamo djan sir... i think baka magrecall sila ng VGT variants kasi parang jeep... to all VGT owners na mausok hingi lang kayo ng quality report sa monty niyong mausok sa casa niyo.
* Expatio: Sir how's the FC of your GTV? city driving and hi-way? my gtv gets 8.7 km/L on city driving while 10.3 km/L on hi-way driving. Masyado po bang malakas sa crudo itong gtv ko or normal lang po ito? any comments from other VGT owners would be much appreciated. thanks!
There is no default. It's your choice. In wet conditions or/and heated driving 4wd is you best option (same as old pajero). For me 4wd would be the default.
You can change between 2wd and 4wd on the move up to x kph, but not to locked 4wd.
- 2wd is for city or highway driving in good conditions. There is less wear and tear on the drivetrain and 2wd is slightly more economical.
- 4wd gives you better acceleration and better traction.
- 4wdLckHigh is for purely offroad. Do not use on paved road as your centre diff will be locked. This would cause poorer handling and wear on tyres. You could use this in heavy snow though
- 4wdLckLow is the same except it engages the transfer box and the ratio is reduced by 50%
I didn't read the manual yet, so all the above is based on my early 90s Pajero, when 'Super Select' was introduced.

I don't think the casa will deliver my Montero in 4x4 mode, but in 4x2 that is what I meant by default. And I don't think people would be using 4x4 unless in adverse conditions, certainly it makes no sense in city driving, unless there is a really heavy down pour and your driving very fast.

Not so sure about the accuracy of the onboard comsumption gauge.
In the UK they have vgt and non-vgt stradas (L200). Below is a comparison chart with actual official consumption. For the purpose of this I used two manual vehicles, but the VGT (warrior) version is 85KG heavier:
L200 4wd 4Life Club Cab (m/t) (non-vgt) Strada 136PS
0-100km = 15.0 secs
Urban mode: 10.4 L/100km (9.62 km/L)
Extra Urban mode: 7.1 L/100km (14.08 km/L)
Combined mode: 8.3 L/100km (12.05 km/L)
L200 4wd Warrior Double cab (m/t) (vgt) Strada 178PS
0-100km = 12.1 secs
Urban mode: 9.8 L/100km (10.20 km/L)
Extra Urban mode: 7.4 L/100km (13.51 km/L)
Combined mode: 8.3 L/100km (12.05 km/L)
So the VGT fairs better in the urban mode and worse in extra urban. The combined mode is exactly the same.
The 0-100km figures are interesting. 2.9 seconds difference is a huge amount
