Good afternoon to all members. Just want to share my driving experience with my gls-v last saturday, together with my family.

As earlier mentioned, i am from Sta Rosa Laguna, and we decided to spend the whole day in Anvaya in Subic. Well not entirely true as we spent at least 7 hours in the car back and fort with me driving covering almost 500kms of road.

I am not complaining though as i did enjoy every minute of driving pleasure with the Montero, as compared to my xtrail including (believe it or not), its relative comfort. Well have not upgraded yet my MS tires, which i plan to once a) I have extra funds, and b) I have already convinced myself that I indeed have to upgrade to 20"s. My xtrail on the other hand is sitting on 245/45r18, but im guessing even with its regular tire, the MS will still be more comfortable.

The power is just awesome and the closest I can compare it's acceleration with is with my previous '99 galant vr-shark, although I still think MS has smoother acceleration (or I may just be dreaming..haha).

I was so very tempted to floor it through nlex and sctex although couple of things are preventing me from doing so, 1) wife and kids, and 2) cannot take chances with those speed gun/radars....

FC says that I am doing more than 10kms per liter and spent more than half the tank of diesel fuel which costs me roughly between 2k to 2.5k.

Have upgraded my low beam and foglamps to 6k hid, but noticed that my headlight does not seem to be focused right and will let the casa check this out. Also upgraded my horn with europa from winterpine, sound of which is not particularly to my liking and replaced it with Hella I think. I am planning to install Mistsuba though as an additional and see how it will sound since i like the Mitsuba sound very much on my xtrail. Planning on upgrading the sound system also courtesy of Kid Audio for a decent budget of between 20 to 30 thou.

Smoke? as posted earlier, I also noticed this but nothing to be alarmed about. Napansin ko din when I once tried to overtake, I left behind a cloud of really nasty black smoke. I read once though (from one of the posts here) that gradual acceleration has to be applied, which I did follow and i think things are pretty much ok. Looking forward to long drives in the coming Holy Week/

Congrats, on your GLS-V bro. One of the most guilt-free vehicles to buy in the Market. It's not the best, but you sure can be proud of it.

He He. The best by a country mile in the under php2m SUV market
I suppose that is why it outsells all other SUVs and CUVs

I've seen this kind of smoke while going home on a BMW X5, Monty GLS SE, Monty GLS V, Pajero fieldmaster (ralliart), Isuzu Sportivo, and few jeepneys and L300 FB as well.

And by the way the follower of this monty, it looks to me that they are riding a FORTUNER.

Also that car is a GLS V as mentioned before
agree people are getting paranoid, anyways if that would really be an issue of the VGT sooner or later they will find a way to fix it as they wanted to outrun the sales of other SUV brands. It seems to me that out of 100% only 10-20% are experiencing this smoke because here in paranaque area, if I am not mistaken I've seen a lot of VGT owners already (GLS V) they don't have that kind of smoke, though I've seen 3 who emits a lot of smoke 2 GLS SE (one is emitting black smoke and the other is same as the video), 1 GLS V(same as the video)

But then regards to GLS-V and GT-V, I think there should be no difference because they are both using the 2.5 4d56 vgt engine and engine specs would probably be also the same, except for the 5speed tranny and 4wd advantage of gt-v

I have the same experience bro. White GLS-V, always find fingerprints/ dust on the tailgate garnish. Punas lang naman tanggal na

Probably not a discrimination, only that there are much more GLS-V owners than GT-V as of now? Since GLS-V was released earlier as well. Or maybe some are just to paranoid over their unit.

I am getting my GLS-V this thursday as well after the check is cleared, fingerprint magnet pala si whity.

For those complaining about excessive smoke, are the owners first time diesel owners?

The periodic maintenance comes out when you reach 800 kms. And will only be removed when you had the unit undergo the 1000 PMS. A new reminder will come back before you reach the 5000 km PMS and so on. Part of their regular maintenance reminding system.

Is that on idle or were you stepping on the accelerator? Also, fully synthetic oil (from casa) was used after your 1kpms?

in relation to this smoke issue. my gls-v is white. if i open/close the tailgate and my sweaty/ oily fingers touched the cladding. if i use the car for a day, the next morning i can see black fingerprints. ala CSI. hehehe..

If it is common to GLS-V only.

It maybe due to the difference in the transmission low gear ratio between the two variance. Especially if you compare their first gear ratio.

If CRDI engine cannot reach high rpm fast enough (because of initial load) + many diesel = :horse: still many horses but with some or plenty of droppings depending on the amount being fed hehehe

Comparing the two variance, the GTV engine is loaded less most of the time especially when driven from stand still or heavy traffic because of the very low first gear of the GTV.
When their accelerator pedal is pressed hard in the same manner, the GTV should also reach higher RPM faster and easily compared to the GLS-V, the unburnt fuel (if there are) should also be lesser thus less smoke.

Of course, their is still the better/ fuel-efficient option to press that GLS-V accelerator pedal gradually during the initial acceleration and feel/play with its power once it reaches 1800rpm or bit higher.

Strange considering wala naman snow sa pinas... in cold areas common kasi yan.

hope malaman ang talagang dahilan kung bakit ganyan yang unit ninyo bossing. At maayos ang dapat ayusin.
