Another carjacking case in Makati
As this developed, four armed men wearing ski-masks forcibly took a red Mitsubishi Montero sports utility vehicle at gun point yesterday morning as it was being driven out of the owner’s garage in Barangay Palanan, Makati City.
Family driver Jonathan Decena, 41, was maneuvering the SUV (PJI-328) out of the residence of owner Gerard Pacis, at 3541 Hilario St. when the suspects, all armed with caliber .45 pistols, suddenly appeared.
The suspects ordered Decena to alight from the vehicle, then boarded the SUV and sped away.
Police said this was the first reported carjacking in Barangay Palanan this year.
Elements of the Makati Police Station 5 are now coordinating with the Makati Police Anti-Carnapping Unit to track down the stolen vehicle.
In Quezon City last Monday, seven armed men blocked and took a Mitsubishi Strada in Barangay Baesa, Quezon City, with three persons on board. – Edu Punay, Mike Frialde, Rainier Allan Ronda
Masyadong hot ang Monty at Strada sa mga Carnaper ah ingats mga Tsikoteer hehehe![]()
The price for the GLS seems to be a fair estimate at what could be the actual selling price. Throw in a discount of 20k, and it is now priced almost the same with the previous model. They say that the new model will also sport an LCD HU with navi...now isn't that very tempting for would be buyers and those in line to acquire the previous model.![]()

If it's the same unit as on the Australian version, the engine info above will not be available. On another note the MMCS system does not allow DVD playback or several adjustments of both SAT NAV and IPOD whilst the car is in motion (over 3kmph to 4 kmph).
There are some ways around this but will cost $$$ and removal of HD from the unit or adding a simulated pulse device.
I do not mean to be a prophet of doom but there are several forums dedicated to cracking this for the past 3 years.
Well looking at the MMCS in the Australian MS (Challenger) it is completely different, with buttons on the side and no DIN head unit below it. I think it is made by kenwood here:
I suspect that the one we are getting is completely different as the screen occupies the same place as former 'Multi Information Display' and there is a seperate head unit below in the DIN slot. I also think it is not MMCS as I don't see that mentioned on any of the literature so far produced.
The system is probably cheaper to produce but may not have all the safety restrictions that MMCS has everyone complaining.
Been to agcc this afternoon to see the monty vgt up close. It is just the gls se with navigation, carbon fiber spoiler( not just a sticker wrap) and honeycomb grilles(no vgt emblem). 0-60 is pretty much like my gls 3.2 but with a quieter engine sound. I just dont know how will vgt respond on 100 and above since it has 5speed at . Paddle shift responds really well. The spoiler looks really good up close, matched the black portion of the rear lower bumper. Planning on buying one as soon as it becomes available.
the actual unit doesnt have self levelling headlamps ,just an update to that full specs you were referring to.
