Hello Sir! We will getting our white monty 2-3 weeks from now, may i know what are the things to check? as i read, the audio control from the steering wheel is the most common problem..then i will observe also if the blue light malfunctions.. anything else besides that? Thankyou..![]()
No. What ever the official discound is + goodies on offer. All the dealers should take off the official discount automatically.
The GLS-V has an official discount of P20,000.
Word has it that the GT-V official discount will be 35,000 + free LTO 3years (worth P10,500). If that is the true figure; that is the point where you can start negotiating for goodies.
IE P1,688,000 - P35,000 = P1,653,000 + free lto
Dear Darwin,
Thank you for your follow up query regarding the immobilizer system and please find below our reply to your concern.
1. What about for MS 4x2 A/T? does it have engine immobilizer?
Yes, the New Mitsubishi Montero Sports 4X2 AT is also equipped with immobilizer system.
2. Whats the purpose of the immobilizer?
The purpose of the immobilizer is to prevent the engine from starting the vehicle if a key other than the key which is registered for the vehicle is used after an attemp to start the vehicle after force entry.
Where it was installed and located?
The immobilizer is located and installed in the ignition key cylinder.
3. How it will function / its work?
The immobilizer works when the ignition key is turned ON. The registered ignition key transmits its own key ID via radio wave. Tthe immobilizer controls the vehicle starting sytem to function when the sent key ID agrees with the pre-registered one. Two ignition keys are provided, and up to eight keys can be registered to one vehicle as needed.
4. How to test the immobilizer on MS 4x2 A/T unit?
Vehicle with immobilizer system will not start using an unregistered key.
We hope that the above have adressed your concern and thank you very much for visiting our website.
Sincerely,

Got this from the other thread, but I still have a question. I opted to do the asking here for I noticed that we are getting more precise and sensible answers from forum members than our SA's. No offense meant, but most of the time it seems to be true.
My question is, if the the immobilizer if getting its radio signal from our registered keys:
1. Will a non-registered duplicate key (ex. from mr quickie) can be used to start our engine, as long as our registered key is inside the vehicle?
2. Most of us if not all, don't bring both the registered keys with us every time we drive our vehicles. What will happen if the battery (if there's any, i assumed there is) of our keys died out while we are in the middle of nowhere? What shall we do then?
The car manual doesn't mention anything about these scenarios, does it mean that the key battery will last the life span of our car?
Another point is, if these problems or scenarios can be expected in those events, should the manufacturer at least inform us or include in the car manual to always bring your spare registered key or the battery for the keys?
One forumer, also asked how to turn-off the immobilizer, with the possible problems mentioned above, i find merit in his question.
I hope to be enlighten on this, for I am always on my out of town travels, and i am sure all of us deserve to be informed. Thanks in advance...

Actually you might be right sir. SA from MOA texted me that monty VGT will have price increase on April, he told me na its either price increase, or decrease on the discount per unit, and also once they sold 1,000 units of MS thats their que on starting the prince increase... i guess whichever comes 1st April or 1,000 units. Im assuming this might be true or its just one of their schemes just to get customers to reserve or purchase a monty.![]()
*monterik: u can try it for yourself. have it duplicate ur key at quickie then let us know.
u can also remove the battery of ur registered monty key and try it out.
we will be waiting for the results. hehe!
i think it wouldn't work... :D i have my 2010 Yamaha r6 and it has somewhat the same technology, if you loose the key you need to change the whole ignition system :D and that is very expensive, i think if you want to duplicate your keys the closest place would be in Singapore i think :D
There should be a manual overide switch at the bottom of the dash so if the key doesn't work you can use this. I was told by the technician in Diamond Motors when my unit was released that if the key gets lost or doesn't work, you can bring it back to the CASA. If it does get lost, when the unit is released, the key comes with an ID similar to a small dog tag and it contains the id# that Mistsubishi will use to replace your key.
I was also told that kung magkaproblema, you can bring it to Winterpine and they supply the radio chip
I drive a Nissan Patrol (who buys their immobilizers from Siemens). I think the principle will be the same. I don't have access to the MS now (gamit ng may ari)
1. If you hold it near enough to the key cylinder.
2. Immobilizer transponders don't have batteries. On the Patrol, it's just a chip embedded in the key handle.
3. The immobilizer cannot be deactivated. Unless you trace the wiring, take off the immobilizer module in the key cylinder and reconnect the wires totally bypassing the immobilizer module.
Immobilizers are effective. They reduce vehicle theft while parked. They also gave rise to later forms of car theft specifically carjackings.
The alarm system is also totally independent of the immobilizer. They don't know each other exist, they don't talk to each other. You can change the alarm yet the immobilizer system will still work the same way or vice versa.

I actually decided to trade in my 2010 monty for the new GLS-V or GT-V but it frustrates me because my Daimond Motors Agent advise me not to do so. Reason being is that they are still observing the performance since the applied Korean technology integrated in the engine is relatively new. They are not certain if it will indeed perform well or expect setbacks from compatibility failure thus performance failure. Just sounds so pessimistic and it kills my excitement.
