sirs, ano sa palagay niyo... how would the market react if MMPC would come out with a 178hp 2.5 4x2 Strada? I know this belongs to a different thread but this is where the discussion about the VGT is. kasi if that happens, Strada 4x2 would be the highest (i think) among the local brands in terms of horsepower.

...Pagbibigyan naman ng navara ang strada VGT ngayon na lamang ng 3HP.. But the navara was the pick up king in terms of performance highest HP & torque (up to now) since it was launched.. Now that the Strada/Montero had a major engine upgrade with VGT & class leading 178HP, Its time for its competitors to upgrade their commonrail diesel engines..

Madaming powerful diesel engines ang aabangan this year..

Ford:
2.2-liter Duratorq TDCi I4 diesel engine with peak torque output of 375 Nm and power output of 150 hp
3.2-liter Ford Duratorq TDCi I5 diesel engine with a powerful 470 Nm of torque and power rated at 200 hp

Mitsubishi
2.5 liter VGT 4D56 engine with 178 hp and 400 Nm of torque for M/T and 178 hp and 350 Nm of torque for A/T
3.2 liter VGT 4M41 engine with 197 hp and 441 Nm of torque

Nissan
3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel with 240 hp and 550Nm of torque (hopefully for the diesel variant of the patrol royale)
2.5 liter YD25DDTi High Power engine with 190 hp and 450Nm of torque (navara)

Yung 3.2 VGT 4M41 ang hinihintay kong mailagay sa Monty. Our SA in Diamond Greenhills called my dad yesterday and offered him the new Monty GTV. My dad is interested instantly with the GTV but I told him to wait for the 3.2 VGT 4M41 as it may be released for the Monty and Strada near the end of the year or during the 1st-2nd quarter of 2012.

Naku hindi lang sa Patrol Royale ilalagay yung 3.0 V6 VGT. Pati rin sa Navara at Pathfinder/Terrano. Base engine lang ng Patrol Royale yung 3.0 V6 VGT. May ilalabas din daw na bagong V8 VGT diesel just for the Patrol Royale

IMO, the 4D56 VGT is good enough for the present generation Strada/Montero Sport and in case they will introduce the 4M41 VGT, i think it would be more appropriate for the next generation as i presume that it will gain weight and added capabilities. im sure a lot of owners and enthusiasts will enjoy this first before moving on to the next level. *sir numbah5, from whom did you hear your abovementioned statement from?

Mitsubishi diesel engines can move in any direction in the future. it may or may not necesarily have to move upwards to 3.2 again. Looking at the engine line-up of the Next Gen Ford Ranger, its base engine shrinked down to 2.2 and MMC is (still) developing the clean diesel engines- the 4N13 1.8 now seen in the Euro ASX/Lancer EX and the 4N14 2.2 that still has to see the light of day- and with the appropriate engineering, pwede ito sa next gen Strada/Montero Sport!

toyota has to pull a rabbit out of it's hat to stay in line or it has to risk losing its market share to its competitors. mitsubishi and hyundai just raised the bar. lately, toyota has just been relying on it's brand and good resale value to keep their heads above water. i'm really curious on what things they have in store for their D-4D engines in the coming year.

This engine is for the Pajero only. This was stated in some international press release, forgot where.

- sana kahit man lang sa monty merong VGT na 4m41. Baka kc yung toyota ay gawing sinlakas ng Prado vx na 410nm yung fortuner. Same engine lang naman sila eh, 1kd-ftv. Iba lang ng hp at nm rating. I'm sure madali nilang magagawa yan eh.
