Pagbibigyan naman ng navara ang strada VGT ngayon na lamang ng 3HP.. But the navara was the pick up king in terms of performance highest HP & torque (up to now) since it was launched.. Now that the Strada/Montero had a major engine upgrade with VGT & class leading 178HP, Its time for its competitors to upgrade their commonrail diesel engines..

Madaming powerful diesel engines ang aabangan this year..

    Ford:
2.2-liter Duratorq TDCi I4 diesel engine with peak torque output of 375 Nm and power output of 150 hp
3.2-liter Ford Duratorq TDCi I5 diesel engine with a powerful 470 Nm of torque and power rated at 200 hp

    Mitsubishi
2.5 liter VGT 4D56 engine with 178 hp and 400 Nm of torque for M/T and 178 hp and 350 Nm of torque for A/T
3.2 liter VGT 4M41 engine with 197 hp and 441 Nm of torque

    Nissan
3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel with 240 hp and 550Nm of torque (hopefully for the diesel variant of the patrol royale)
2.5 liter YD25DDTi High Power engine with 190 hp and 450Nm of torque (navara)

    Answer ko:

3.2 liter VGT 4M41 engine with 197 hp and 441 Nm of torque---i think this engine will be put up on mitsubishi pajero 2011 not in montero...tanong ko lng ha bakit mababa yung Nm of torque ng mitsubishi?kumapra sa nissan at forn na matataas..so anu ang comparison nila dyan?

    * ang bibilis ng mga sasakyan na yan ah..esp yung navarra at patrol royale na diesel pati yung ford bilis din ah...anu balita sa toyota?mukhang maiiwan na sila ng monty ngaun ah ang furtuner...

Mitsubishi diesel engines can move in any direction in the future. it may or may not necesarily have to move upwards to 3.2 again. Looking at the engine line-up of the Next Gen Ford Ranger, its base engine shrinked down to 2.2 and MMC is (still) developing the clean diesel engines- the 4N13 1.8 now seen in the Euro ASX/Lancer EX and the 4N14 2.2 that still has to see the light of day- and with the appropriate engineering, pwede ito sa next gen Strada/Montero Sport!

Here are the latest Toyota News:

    http://www.toyota.com.ph/news_and_events/index.asp
Toyota Captures 9th Consecutive Triple Crown

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) finished 2010 strong with year-end sales of 56,855 units capturing 33.7% market share. TMP has once again proven its stance as the No. 1 automotive company in the country after posting the highest number of vehicle sales in the entire history of the automotive industry. In addition, it has also outperformed itself after achieving record-breaking yearend sales, which is a fitting complement to its 9th consecutive Triple Crown Title.

According to the report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), total industry sales for 2010 reached 168,490 units. This translates to an astounding 27.2% growth compared to the same period of last year. “2010 has been another banner year for Toyota. We started the year on a strong note achieving record-breaking sales from January to October and then finally capping the year with 5,623 units in December. This is the highest monthly sales we have posted since the start of our operations in 1989. Also, we have remained consistent in being the leader in Passenger Car Category, Commercial Vehicle Category and Overall Sales, now for the 9th consecutive year,” expressed Yuji Goto, TMP Executive Vice President. “We are also pleased that TMP was able to respond to the robust market performance in 2010, with our locally manufactured Vios and Innova models as the country’s top-selling vehicles,” Goto added.

In the PC Category, Toyota captured 35.5% share with 21,032 units sold. Leading the strong PC line-up are the Vios, Camry and the New Corolla Altis models, which reigned supreme in their respective segments. Toyota also maintained leadership in the CV category with 35,823 units sold, cornering 32.8% of Total CV market.

TMP sees 2011 as another growth year for the industry. “We remain confident that the market will continue to post positive growth. While 2010’s market performance is exceptional due to the success of the national elections and spillover demand of urban flooding, we forecast the market to go back to its normal course this year. For Toyota’s part, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our customers for their continued patronage to Toyota, to whom we owe all these achievements. In return, we shall continue to enhance our operations to provide innovative products and outstanding service to our customers who have made and will keep us No. 1 all these years,” concluded Goto.

If am not mistaken ganito din yung nangyari sa US about that Filam incident with Lexus..

This is not a Toyota thread and for your information Toyota has lost ground to both Mitsubishi and Hyundai in the last year. Also, the new VGT Montero Sport does not need to 'break their grounds'; as the non-VGT Monteros and Stradas outsold their Toyota equivalents (with their lethardic and faulty engines) last year.

So now lets get back on topic.

It’s hard to determine what really happen because only the driver knows some significant details of the incident.
But it was mentioned that the Montero had traveled 68meters so it can be estimated that the ordeal lasted for about 10seconds. So what evasive/logical actions can we do in 10seconds while seeing untoward events happening in front of our eyes? So I think a possible culprit is disorientation.

I want to share this personal experience:
I was driving errands the whole day during our clan’s reunion using a manual tranny sportivo and at the end of the day I have to maneuver four cars of my relatives out of the compound, rearranged them so that all five vehicles will fit and be safe inside the compound for the night. One of the four parked cars is my Aunt’s A/T Pajero. I drove that Pajero so many times but during that particular day I became disoriented or shall I say my initial reflex action is normal but inappropriate for the particular vehicle I drove that time.

    This is how it happened:
I squeeze the Pajero into a tight space in between the gate (gate opens inward) and another parked car. I have to do a reversed maneuver; need to make a tight turn after passing the parked car on my left, has to watch out for the gate on my right, has to watch out for in-coming vehicle (road is at my rear) and I have to do all of these in an inclined because the newly cemented road is about 2 feet higher than the compound.
In an inclined the tendency of the car is to move forward after releasing the brake or accelerator pedal therefore I have to actively and correctly control them. What happened next was, another car suddenly appears on the rear view mirror while I am starting to accelerate. I was caught by surprise (because I was in the middle of the steel sheathed gate) that my reflexes are: to step a pedal on my left foot and to step another pedal on my right foot like stepping on the brake. The Pajero revs very loud but the good thing was I still managed to stop the Pajero because lucky for me that I did not release the pedal on my left foot. Lucky for me also that one feature of a torque converter is: the engine side turbine is free to rotate (slide through) while the transmission can still sense that the car is not doing a progressive acceleration.

These reflexes are normal during a slow moving emergency stop but only applicable if you are driving a manual tranny wherein your left foot automatically finds the clutch to disconnect the engine and prevent it from stalling and surprisingly, your right foot automatically steps on the brake without a distinct command coming from the mind.

I would like to share this because such experience may also happen to others doing mixed and simultaneous driving (manual and auto tranny). I would like also to share that if such incident happens to you, never release the pedal on your left foot until you figure out what is going on.

My Casa manager says there is still no price set for the GT-V.

He says that the new models will be launched next Friday the 11th Feb. It will not be the official launch; but a tentative one.

it was already posted. but that was really very alarming. my wife case was different one. when she was parking parallel between a tricycle and a starex. instead stepping on brake she mistakenly step on accellerator. kaboom she hit the starex. rear bumper and door was totally damage. on montero a slight scratch in front and damage plate number cover.

Sounds like so; from his description of what what happened. He said his father braked heavily, but that was after the whole incident was near its end.
The natural thing to do in such a runaway incident is to immediately brake.

It seems like he put his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake from the onset and when the car continued to move he depressed it fully. As it was an automatic; if he indeed put his foot to the floor the car would behave exactly as he described.
