sir ingat lang humataw, i think sa mx wala siya abs ebd. (please correct me if Im wrong)

Pansin ko lang meron usapang drum brakes dito.. I think it doesn't really matter. what is important is the front brakes for our FF cars. If you want you can change the rotors to bigger ones using stock calipers for increased stopping power. It has been done locally not to my car though.

Kung disturbed talaga kayo na drum brakes ang meron ng car ninyo, it's always easy to get a pair of rear disc brakes.

anyway.. after a spirited driving, wag muna kayo lulubog sa baha ah! mag warp ang rotors niyan haha! cool down muna. Kung gusto ninyo ng hataw, ipunin ang rage at ilabas sa trackday! safer pa yun!

*oliver, UST kayo? anong college? Yahoo! eb sa 2011!

Ako naman, di ko siguro isusugod sa baha yung Lancer ko, regardless of disc or drum rear brakes, hehe.

Back to topic of drum vs. disc rear brakes... what makes me wonder is the fact that the older 1.6L Lancers still available today (as GLS and GLX, old body) have disc rear brake (non-ventilated) starting at the entry level model.

So there must be a good reason for this compromise, I mean the EX MX's brake system as a whole (ABS + EBD included) must be good enough, even with drum brakes. Otherwise, I'm sure they would have chosen to remove the less important features like Adaptive Front Lighting System and HID instead, which tells us that the cost of rear disc brakes is not the issue.

What reason that is... I wonder. Hehe.

They have to sell the old model. For it to compete with the new Lancer or other makes (say new civic, city, altis, etc) is to make it attractive as possible or else mabubulok lang yun sa kanila.

There is nothing wrong with drum brakes pinaka una kong bike ay drumbrakes.. buhay pa naman ako ngayon haha! IMHO, having drumbrakes is better looking than installing those brembo caliper covers.

i beg to disagree with you dude.. brembo better looking than drum??? come on.. give me a break...! its apples and oranges! maybe your just like old school..

the point here is the most reliable.. while drum is safe (coz if not, they would not put it in the first place..) the disk is a lot safer!

bottom line, if you make a fast car, it should be equipped with a lot safer breaking system!

sorry for the misunderstanding. If you read what I said above, I said brembo caliper cover.

    It is something like this:

you put it on top of the stock calipers to give it that brembo look. I'm not really a fan of this that's why I said drum is better that having brembo caliper covers, when it comes to looks.

Performance-wise, its a different story but we are just only talking about the looks.

bro, i think mogmog was talking about those plastic caliper covers that are taped over the orig calipers of a disk brake para mukhang brembo, . they actually come in different colors and brands. ricey lang for my taste.

    hello guys!

value for money ba bumili ng low end lancer ex glx m/t?

880k kasi ang price & to think it's a low end model pa.

pero it's cbu japan so i think mas maganda yata ang build quality nito? kay sa altis, for example, which is cbu thailand?

Why would they price the Evo with the STI when the STI sucks bigtime! Watch Topgear videos and see how the Evo dismantled the STI with ease.

Nagbasa basa ako sa altis thread, 10 to 12 km/l ang average nila sa mixed city and highway for 1.6 M/T...hindi na pala masama ang FC ng lancer from manila to subic via sctex, kasama na piakot ikot sa subic and plenty of idle time(nakahinto at naka aircon) at heavy traffic sa nlex pabalik, para na din mixed yun... final tally 10.8km/L, 2.0 naka matic ka pa...

Can anybody post performance figures ng mga EX nila?

Top speed, 0-60kph at 0-100kph, braking distance, etc...

How do they compare with the preceding 1.6 models, particularly the CVT versions?

    Thanks

Based on figures by C! Magazine, here are the performance data for the Lancer EX:

    0-100kph : 9.1 sec
    Top speed: 205 kph

    The 1.6L non-EX models:

    0-100kph: 11.8 sec
    Top speed: 180 kph

I believe this is partly because of the CVT (vs. conventional 'matic)
