Depending on the road and traffic conditions. Sa US, ang CIty nila is comparable to hiway driving na dito sa atin. But if its getting around 11km/li, this is an economical car already considering its heavy body and big engine.

My Altis is getting 8km/li city and 11km/li hi-way on its light body and stone age 4-speed AT.

However, sometimes, users and fanatics also exaggerate .

Wait and see nalang muna tayo.

When I test drove the new lancer for 3 days it gave me dismal and mixed results. Sometimes I just get 6.5km/L and my highest was just around 7.8km/L. You don't need HP for a heavy compact sedan like this, what you need is big torque just to get it going. Sana may CRDi VGT version silang ilabas dito w/ 6 speed transmission then problem solved.

6.5 - 7.8 is this city driving? AT or MT? If city driving tapos A/T...pwede na yan. I get that mileage on my 2.0 Mazda 3.

Hehe, hindi sakin pwede yan. Sa 8km/l ng altis natatakawan nako eh...and I drive it with a heavy foot. Conservative driving gives me around 8.7km/l on an AT.

Lugarai: If fuel economy is what youre looking for, then the focus is a good choice. Also, it won't embarass you when you feel like leaving some 2.0 sedans behind when the greenlight lits..hehe.

    Sa NLEX ba yan?

Focus = speed, power, fuel economy, handling, suspension, rarity (di "Honda/Toyota" ang dami sa lansangan) and looks (head turner pa din kahit more than 2 years nang nilabas sa market!)

*automan- hi bro , may i ask, where did u test the Lancer? In as much as we want the Diesel engine Di-D, currently, Mitsu is currently getting it from VOLKSWAGEN for the euro market only and it is also applied on the Grandis and the Outlander (+ Peugeot's 2.2 diesel). MMC is in the final stages of making diesels for its own: the 1.8 VGT seen at the Concept cX and the 2.2 VGT seen at the Dakar Outlander and Concept ZT.

*lugarai, hold your horses muna if ok with u! i hope u can change your mind. performance may come at a price, but the fun to drive factor may win you back. The Focus may be rare- but if u will be the first in Alabang to drive the New Lancer, you will also have your 15minuites of fame everytime someone sees u driving it. please always note that FC would vary on a case-to-case basis. considering that the CVT can help aide fuel economy. This helped the FC of the current Lancers. try to kulit the sales team for the actual FC tested by MMPC. And with that, Please continue to wait and see. Some reviews average 8 on the city. I don't know how bad it is though... On the highway, they said it can go over 12-13 km/l granny driving.

The main reason it is not too great in economy figures was because of more airbags, computers, 5 star crash ratings, better interior materials etc.

Yes, the upcoming 2008 Lancer models headed for the RP will be powered by the 4B11 MIVEC engine.
    Asian spec says 114kw = 155PS = 153hp

Aside from being well equipped, I believe the new Lancer will be CBU from Japan just like the Impreza, thats a plus.

Yup, the test unit came from Ford Pampanga. Tested it from Shell Nlex Northbound then exit to San fernando toll gate. Ang lakas ng hatak nya..ramdam na ramdam ko.

It just shows that the average weight of cars in this category is now about 3000lbs with all the safety equipment in the cars. In 1989 when the 300ZX TT (Z32) came out it was called heavy for being 3000lbs. Now a compact car is the same weight with power about 150 hp and above, in 1989 it made about 80-110hp and weighed about 2000-2300lbs. Everything is relative if you want the safety features it will have to add to the weight of the car.

I drove it sa Bangkok. Actually, kasama ko si sir SaberRider. We both liked the paddle shifters, it added a sporty touch to it pero hanggang doon nalang... sporty touch, no sporty performance. Si sir Saber nagpa reserve na para sa upcoming Evo nila. Walang hiya, bagsak agad ng US$40k para di maunahan. If you guys need money kay sir Saber kayo! Loaded yan, self made pa!

That's highly illogical sir. I've encountered vehicles abroad that are as highly well-packaged in terms of safety feature but weigh less. The Mazda 3 is very heavy but it only has 2 airbags, also the same with the Focus. Mas magaan pa yung top line civic w/ 4 airbags. Of course pwede idahilan yung ABS, EBD, Brake Assist..etc.. but that already came standard with the previous gen cars but it still weighed less than the car now. Like yung Altis ngayon sa previous Altis... almost the same lahat pero lalo siyang bumigat at humina ang HP and NM ng 18L niya. It's a shame because Japanes cars used to be lighter than it's European predecessors and yet pack as many safety features none the less. Ngayon, it's turning out to be a heavyweight contest.
