I had an opportunity to test drive the lancer sa Bangkok. Maganda, aesthetically speaking. Performance, sluggish.... ang bigat. Comparison basis? Altis 1.8, Civic 2.0, Focus TDCi, Mazda 3. Ramdam mo yung hirap ng makina. I know some people will say it's fast..... but how fast? To what standard? 1.3L standard? OR with the same 1.8L to 2.0L market? Mostly the weight came from the chassis and body design. Imposibleng bumigat yan dahil lang sa dami ng airbags and sound system. Ang liit lang naman ng capsule ng mga airbags and pati rin naman yung sound system if you add both the sound system(speakers, HU, amp?) and the airbags, I'm pretty sure all of those combined would barely reach a 100 lbs. It's a sporty car, not a sports car. Baka mamaya classified yan as a "sports sedan"

This was what my friend from Canada also told me about the new lancer. He loves the exterior and interior of the car but got turned-off because of the sluggish ride. But hey, it's a sedan.

I don't find the 1.8 altis nor the 1.8 and 2.0 liter civic sluggish. But I'm really pessimistic with regards to the power to weight ratio of the new lancer, the same way as the new altis'. But as long as it has abundant torque, okay na sakin kasi city driving lang naman ako most of the time.

Is it just me or is the new Lancer's interior a little cheap-looking?

Designers have done an admirable job in regards to placement of the 2008 Lancer’s primary controls. The heating and air conditioning systems, for instance, are operated with three big dials on the center dash, each clearly marked and easy to manipulate. Above is a sound system that replaces a traditional face plate with dash-integrated buttons – thumbs up for clearly-marked buttons, but thumbs down for forcing the driver to reach for some of them. When so equipped, steering wheel controls are big enough for the thick-thumbed among us, and the oft-used power windows/door locks/mirrors buttons are intuitively placed on the driver’s door switch panel.

Did the Revo come with 152 horsepower engine? The 2.0L engine has more than enough power to get the car from 0-60mph(96.56km/h) in 7.7 seconds(motor trend). As a point of reference the 2 door Civic Si(SiR) did the same in 7.2 seconds(motor trend) and that's with 2 less doors than the Lancer GTS, I imagine the 4 door Philippines SiR would be a few tenths slower.

what i mean sa sinabi ko na magparang case ng revo is that, baka gawin lang parang pangmumog sa umaga ng sasakyan yung gasolina sa bigat niya not the 0-60mph thing, as compared to its other 2.0 competitors namely the civic, focus, impreza, mazda3, lynx and (add more if may naiwan ako).

Car&Driver quotes the US-spec Lancer GTS weighing 3050 lb (~1380kg) and smoking to 60 mi/h from standstill at 7.8 seconds.

What we need, though, is real-world overtaking info. How quickly can a Lancer accelerate from 50-70 mi/h (80-120 km/h) in each gear?

...in addition, majority also need a fuel efficient car. Me thinks the fuel consumption will be close to old gen galants.

If you ask me, a more sensible engine would be a 2.0L CRDi VGT which is more than capable of reaching 180hp and an excess of 400nm torque. Example: the BMW X3 only 2.0L diesel. Has enough hp and more than enough torque to drag that heavy lump of a lancer.

My officemate in Qatar bought a new Silver Lancer 1.8GLx...Pangit pala pag steel wheels lang with cover.The front grill is hawig sa Old Shark Galant. Mas maganda siguro ang lalabas dito sa atin sa Pinas.

+2, with a sports car like the SI with much much lighter body than the new lancer. It is just a .5sec differential. Okay narin yun. With that speed i think kaya na ng power nya ang weight. Ang problema kung fuel efficient ba? ANy feedbacj from abroad?
