They wont have any real ambition for a promotion in their job. They would work but they simply wont do the extra mile since they don't need it. No way in hell would they go to work on weekends since they dont need the promotion or the overtime pay.

My bosses and colleagues know that I will NEVER go to work on a weekend or holiday. I don't even get asked anymore whenever week-end overtime is needed because they know that I would rather die than go to work on a weekend. I don't mind staying in the office past midnight but weekends and holidays are sacred for me. This is what my Kuya told me when I started working. He said that work should never be taken home as well.

Not working on week-ends and holidays also saves the company cost on OT pay. There was an issue in our company where employees are staying overtime but not really working Ever since then OT approvals have been very strict. I rarely charge OT but now we are required to put commentary on reason for OT. I stopped charging OT for an extra 1 to 2 hours of work a day because I don't want to be bothered with commentary (i feel it's demoralizing) AND it's my little way of helping our company cut costs and for better numbers for my boss (The OT of my boss' staff gets monitored and it's better if OT in his team is at a minimum)

    Wala sa school yan ....
    Diskarte lang yan.

Here's one example. The PBA, yes the Phil. Basketball Ass. Marketing Director (Rhose Montreal) was discovered recently, that her school diploma was fake. She faked her UP school cert & even declared herself a cum laude. Because of that humiliating discovery, she resigned.

But lo & behold. She re-applied for the same position, & the board re-hired her, for "humanitarian reasons". Tang nang yan.

Gawin mo sa ibang malaking opisina yan, sibak ka na kakasuhan ka pa. UP graduate, cum laude, peke pala. Kapal din ng mukha.

Pero, mas ku*l ang PBA. Tinanggap pa ulit.

nice... she is lucky that her employers feel that her work output outweighs her initial sense of ethics.
but let us not assume that the very small minority reflects the vast majority.

Something similar happened to us. Our manager interviewed an applicant from DLSU Manila. When he submitted his transcript it wasn't DLSU Manila but some other la salle school. Our manager hired him anyway since he did well on the interview naman. He said sinadya niya talaga yun sa CV since he knows companies prefer those 3 schools.

Agree bro.,- IMO,- mas kvp*l ang PBA and speaks real bad of their "leadership".

Pasensiya na,- graduate kasi kami ng Wart[h]orn e...

Dinis-own sya ng UP sir. May ni-release na certification pa sa media at PBA, na walang Rhose Montreal na graduate sa UP.

Graduate pala ng UP Recto. Pero, nilubos-lubos na nya. UP grad na, w/ honors pa. Yan ang mame-meke. Sagad-sagaran......

I really wonder why they have to rehire her, after all of the misleading things and claims she told them...

To my mind,- malamang, magaling ding "sumipsip" iyan...

I read too that she did good,- but then faking your credentials is a no no no as there are standards and morals that we need to be faithful with in our business and society... Else everything crumbles down.

"I'm really interested in designing roads" - Obviously taught good research skills, the one thing we didn't do was design roads!
"When do I become a manager?" - "Here, have my job, I suddenly have the overwhelming desire to drown myself in a large Tiger beer"

One guy, when asked what he knew about our company took a sheet of paper out of his pocket and started reading the home page of our website!

What I found really surprising was that around 60%, when told that we expected them to think for themselves, question solutions (English style!) and were basically saying, "Write your own job description dependent on your interests and we'll support you" said that that method didn't work for them. They wanted strict orders and instructions for each and every task.

And then of course, there were the ones that just didn't bother to turn up at all...

    No wonder I drink!
We have a relatively fresh grad employee who resigned, graduated from UP. The employee stated that he did not get the desired assignments but in reality, the employee was not taking the initiative and only did what was required of the job. Even during our weekly discussions, walang contributed inputs.

"Does school really matter" - To me it does, but learning matters more. A lot of applicants have impressive academic records but lack essential skills, attitude and acumen to do the job. An impressive record will get you noticed and probably hired, but it won't keep you there or promote you. In the end it is still about performance.

Does school really matter?
