Buy what you can afford. Be practical unless you have a lot of extra cash. Get the 1.5V and save / invest the rest of the money. The time will come when you can buy the car you really want. 16K monthly is almost 200T annually, 600T for 3 years. You can buy a lot with it or a downpayment for your next dream car. Sure, every time you'll see a 2.0R, you'll drool but that's life. Buy yourself an Apple iPhone every year with the savings to compensate.
Just found out that the glass of Mazda 3 windows already have factory "tinted" coating. Is it still necessary to have V-Kool tint installed? Will there still be a major difference?
Walang temperature guage pala Mazda3. Medyo walang time magbasa manual e.
If I could afford the 2.0, I'd get the 2.0. More than enough car for me, I don't see myself wanting anything more than that, I actually think it's a keeper.
Just like the 2.0R Mazda 3 that first came out in 2004 - it still has the looks, specs, power, and handling to be competitive with other compact sedans 10 years after.

945k/16k is 5 years. But that's assuming you're paying in cash now and then just offsetting it with your allowance.
If you're paying 20% DP, that's 190k and then with approx 25% interest on the remaining loan amount that will be another 945k, or 15.75k/month for the next 5 years.
If it's the 2.0 with the same scheme, that's 240k DP and a loan amount of 1.2M, or 20k/month for the next 5 years.
Also, the total difference in 2 years at 16k per month is 384k, eh ang price difference lang ng 1.5 sa 2.0 is 250k so how come hindi tugma? Even if you finance it and there's a 25% interest in 5 years, 312k lang yun.
So parang di lang nagtutugma na you can finish off paying the 1.5 in 3 years tapos yung 2.0 in 5 years.

Payment won't solely come from the 16k. I already have 400k which will be used for DP and for other necessary expenses.
Using BPI's online loan calculator, we'll get:
for 1.5V:
SRP: P948,000
DP *40%: P379,200
*36 mos. to pay: P18,270 per month
for 2.0R Soul Red:
SRP: P1,214,800
DP *30%: P364,440
*60 mos. installment: P18,039
So P16,000 will only be part of the payment and i'll add P2,000 to meet the monthly payment of P18,000. As you can see DP and monthly amortization are roughly the same for the 1.5V and 2.0R. The only difference would be the time it would take to finish paying for the car.
And yes a savings of P16,000 per month for two years if i get the 1.5V would translate to P384,000 which i could invest in something else.
Since you want to get the most out of your money, why not go further, just buy a used car for 400k (a 2006 Mz3 2.0 is just 300k), then save the entire 16k allowance?
Then you get 800k in 5 years, more money to save and invest.
There's nothing a used Mz3 or a cheaper bnew car like the Vios can't do that a new Mz3 can.

The answer is simple sir. I'm just captivated by the MZ3. :D
I also don't want the hassle of maintaining a used car. The yojin3 is a big plus here. So buying a used car is out of the question.

Well, if you're captivated by the Mz3 regardless of variant, perhaps it's better for you to just go for the 1.5. Since satisfaction is roughly the same for the 1.5 and 2.0, you get more happiness-per-peso with the cheaper 1.5.
For me though, only the 2.0 is worth drooling over. No power, small rims, different gauges - these are the dealbreakers for me.

Got my 2.0 R Sedan Last week in Soul Red color. Free LTO, 6K discount since i opted to have my car tinted outside CASA. Insurance and chattel are free via metrobank car loan.
Very much satisfied. For months I was convincing myself to get a 1.5V for practical purposes. But the 2.0 is just too good of a package. I dont wanna end up having buyers remorse whenever i see one. After numerous test drives, i find the 1.5 a bit lacking in acceleration. Enough for city driving but on highway trips you'll find the transmission always kick down a gear to get it moving.
My first impressions:
- 2.0 has ample power for the car. Not spectacular but not slow either. The exhaust note at 2.5k rpm onwards is awesome. Quite addicting actually. Haha. The transmission is reaponsive. It is obviously biased on fuel economy but It kicks down a gear or two on an instant when you need it. Also i noticed when driving at high RPMs it tends to hold the gears longer than any other autos i've driven.
- i-stop works. But i prefer to not have it. 479kms on the clock i saved 23mins of idle time. I cant picture it working on crawling EDSA traffic though. It is annoying when the car shuts down at the moment you are just about to go. But you can bypass that by applying lighter brake pedal pressure where i stop wont work, if you dont want to completely turn it off. I eloop also works. On roads with light traffic, you practically do not need to get juice from the car battery as the i eloop is always at full charge.
- spare tire is a donut. Cost cutting and to probably make way for the dual exhaust.
- i eloop capacitor is mounted on the low front bumper. I dont know how it will be affected by low floods.
- trunk has no opener on the cabin. Which will be a problem on malls requiring you to open your trunk.
- driving on convoy with our Altis 1.6V 2014 on a 250km highway trip, real world fuel economy via full tank method is 12.6km/l on the altis, i got 11.1km/l on the MZ3 with an aggressive foot, 4000 rpm shifts. Altis was driven conservatively.

just called Seatmate, kaya daw nila gayahin but the price is more expensive than standard sedans, 7500 instead of 6500. sakit sa bulsa
Back then, my mind was fixed to get the 1.5V because it fits the budget. That's why I only test drove that variant when Mazda had its open test drive in BGC. I could have test driven the 2.0 but chose not to because it would be a waste of time since I'll be getting the 1.5 variant.
But eventually I chose the 2.0 instead and stretched my budget (additional 3k on my monthly payment). What changed my mind? I listed them in particular order hehe..
1. I swooned over the Soul Red color and it's only available on the 2.0. I don't know but I had a very strong attraction to the color when I see it.
2. The 18" wheels were just perfect for the M3 body. If I got the 1.5V, definitely I would replace the rims in an instant. But thinking of the hassles, like changing back to stock rims during PMS, doesn't seem worth it. And I love the stock rims design on the 2.0.
3. The leather seats. It blends perfectly well with the interior's premium feel.
4. No lip spoiler on the 1.5. The sportiness of the car somewhat diminishes without it, imo.
The above were enough for me to make that shift to 2.0R. However, I got more than what I asked for:
5. The DRL just looks amazing during daytime and HID lights at night.
6. Advanced Keyless Entry is very useful for me as I don't need to get the key fob out of my pocket when locking/unlocking the car.
7. Heads up display/Sunroof
The i-Stop/i-Eloop were just added bonus for me. And also to note, power was never an issue for me since I'll be driving in the city most of the time.
Hope this helps!![]()
