There's nothing in higher octane fuel that's detrimental to the engine that isn't in 91 RON fuel. For all major oil companies though, their premium fuel (VPower, XCS, Gold, etc) has better additives than their regular gasoline (FuelSave, Xtra, Silver, etc).

Some cars also run better on higher octane fuel, while in others there's absolutely no difference (as long as you meet the minimum which is usually 91), but I've never experienced a car that performs worse on high-octane fuel.

So what's actually the problem with using higher octane rating with the Mazda 3? Is it the additives used in Petron blaze?

Blaze is the only fuel being sold in the Philippines without an E10 blend. I don't know how exactly that affects the Mz3, but in theory it shouldn't.

How many cases do we have of poor performance when loaded with high octane fuel anyway? Baka naman may tubig lang yung Blaze tank nung kinargahang Petron.

No such cases are prevalent in other countries, and even locally it's not a big thing, not like the issue with the Rio/Accent that a lot of people suffered engine knocking with 91 fuel and this was mitigated by using 95 RON fuel instead.

This issue is based on hearsay from a misinformed SA. It's not really confirmed. You should stop making a fuss about it. Caltex and Shell have high octane fuel also.

Yun na rin ang problema. May isang nagka-issue equated kaagad na wag dapat gamitin. Has Mazda even tried to recreate the problem to confirm that the problem indeed is the fuel? What's their evidence to claim this?

May official memo ba from Mazda na wag gumamit ng Petron?

Baka naman sabi-sabi lang ng SA. Wala namang alam yang mga SA na yan sa kotse.

My agent didn't lower the 1% DI but my bank managed to absorb the 0.5% extra without additional charges to me. 0.5% lang daw talaga ang expected DI ng bank pero I guess they stretched a bit.

Petron's refinery isn't old - it just finished its upgrade worth billions of dollars. Shell's refinery is the ancient one - I don't even know how it'll meet the euro 4 mandate by 2016.

Also, in the Philippines, RON and Octane are the same. Noone uses AKI ((RON+MON)/2), that's a US thing. I think everyone's on the same page when talking about 91, 93, 95 and so on octane.

RON and Octane rating are never the same regardless of location. It's an international standard.

RON is a measurement of octane, just as a meter is a measurement of length. Anong pinagsasabi mong magkaiba sila?

Hi guys, I am planning to purchase/reserve m3 sedan this coming January. Iv read a lot in this thread and here is what I've learned so far.

So eto ung additional expenses ko when I buy in cash through (bank financing not in-house financing)

    1. Dealer Incentive = 1% (Mazda Greenhills)
    2. Chattel Mortgage Fee = approx 15k
    3. LTO Reg / TPL = approx 10k
    4. Insurance = approx 25-30k
    5. additional 5k if I want to choose the last digit for plate (optional)

    In return I get
Free Garbage stuff from dealership like fabric seatcover, keychain, umbrella maybe, matting totaling maybe 2k <------ do they still give you free fabric seatcover if the car you are buying already has leather seats?
Free Tint which is the only freebie worth having.

Its my first time to buy my own car, my dad usually is the one dealing.
Is there any way I can waive or capitalize at least on any of 1-4? did anyone who reserved or purchased an M3 this Nov-Dec 2014 got a better deal than this?
Since this is a cash purchase, the chattel might be negotiable with the bank??
But how about 1, 3 and 4? are these negotiable too? if yes, who do I best negotiate this with? (Dealership or Bank?)

Also, usually every time we buy a new car, the dealership recommends rustproofing and again I guess this is not free but optional.

Can someone who is a pro in buying bnew cars please advise?
Or know any dealership giving better deal than this?
I want the best deal for my money and I hate the feeling of getting robbed by additional $$$ both by the dealership after purchasing their product and/or the bank after you have agreed to pay for their interest rates.

    1. Pwede pa daw i-haggle yan sabi ng bank ko. Pero ang initial figure na binigay sa akin is 1% din
    2. Mine is at 16k at 20% DP.
    3. Sa Mazda Pasig, sabi ng bank ko, libre LTO daw
    4. Mura na sir ang insurance ninyo. Though ang basis ko sa insurance eh yun binigay ng dealer sa akin which is 32k
    5. That I didn't know. AFAIK, its either you customized your plate for 15 or 25k lang ang alam ko.

Sa Metrobank ako nag-apply ng car loan. Nanghinayang nga si manager sa akin dahil sa kakatapos lang ng promo nila wherein libre chattel at 1st year insurance, plus lower rates daw sila that time. Anyway, with regards sa 1, 3, 4 ninyo, yes they are. Try to do bank and dealer hopping. So far kasi, Mazda Q. Ave palang ang napagtanungan ko nang maayos, pero yun bank ko naman sabi eh mas good deal sa Mazda Pasig.

    1. Yes , DI is negotiable - dealer
    3. LTO - dealer
    4. Insurance - if bank financing, you can secure insurance from outside or if the bank has its own preferred insurer you may do so. Be sure to haggle insurance premium. Sometimes, the bank offers free insurance on its first year. But there's a catch, let you discover it for yourself (but i availed it). What's the bank? PM me.

Got 5.13% per annum for 5 years.
