That's where marketing of Berjaya will come into play. But seriously, having 1.5L makes a lot of sense. It may save them a lot of penny cause it may also supplant the Demio/2's top line engine. Currently, the Demio/2 only comes with 1.3L as its SkyActiv engine.

A 1.5 Demio sounds good. And rumor is that the CX-3 will be based on the Demio. Deym!
OT: Hyundai is reportedly planning an SUV below Tucson size. I guess that market is the next big thing (Juke, Ecosport, 2008, etc)

The current Demio now has 1.5L offering but doesn't have the SkyActiv technology.

July 18th, 2013 12:21 PM #115Tama ka Sir Basti about China, palagay ko yan din reason bakit nag decide si Mazda na 1.5L na lang. Besides, kahit naman 100hp lang sya as per the press release, 150Nm naman yung torque. Kung maganda gearing nito, plus since it's lighter nga and has 4-2-1 headers which helps with torque delivery, sa papel lang sya dehado pero sa real world driving, hindi.
Also, yung current 1.5 and 1.6 ng Mazda same hp lang halos, parang 1 or 2 hp lang difference, tas 10Nm of torque lang lamang ni 1.6. Same nga ata sila ng ginagamit na filters eh, so it would be wise nga for Mazda to consolidate these two engines into one.

Nothing official yet but:
SKYACTIV-G 1.5L. A new gasoline engine added to the SKYACTIV line-up that achieves a high compression ratio of 13.0:1 (14.0:1 in some markets). It greatly improves dynamic performance and fuel economy over the MZR 1.5 engine of the previous model. Maximum power: 115 hp (86kW) with maximum torque of 111 lb-ft (150 N·m) (values are for European specification hatchback with automatic transmission).
At the starting point of the engine range, we find a Skyactiv-G 1.5-liter petrol delivering 100 hp at 6,000 rpm and 110 lb-ft (150 Nm) at 4,000 rpm, delivering a 0 to 62 mph sprint of 10.8 seconds and a top speed of 113 mph (182 km/h).

Most likely 115 for the 14.0:1 in the EU, 100 for the rest of the world na naka 13.0:1.
Torque comes a bit early (150Nm at 4000rpm). Compared to the Vios' 1NZ:
The 1NZ-FE is a 1.5 L (1497 cc) conventional Otto cycle with a compression ratio of 10.5:1, and it features VVT-i. Output is 80 kW (107 hp) at 6000 rpm with 141 Nm (103 lb·ft) of torque at 4200 rpm. The redline is 6400 rpm.Last edited by JohnM; July 18th, 2013 at 04:46 PM.

Good thing you don't have an oil pressure gauge. It'll make you think twice about going 50.
Thick (20W-50) vs Thin (5W-20) Engine Oil Tested
