It is a Hyundai filter which is a lot cheaper but unless anyone can confirm, this is just a guess. Wouldn't want to touch the sportage fuel filter at this time as it is my daily driver. Sadly, pang coding lang Sorento.
Buti dealer mo at bigay nila yong old filter mo. Did you ask them to give it to you o binigay lang nila sayo? Kung picture lang ng filter, mahirap kasi we can't compare the mounting threads. Possibility is that same nga body at specs pero iba naman ang thread pattern ng filter so di rin sya magagamit.

there's no breakdown in the service invoice but before i agreed to the check, they showed me a list of things they would replace in the car:

fuel filter which they said was about 4.7T pesos
    air filter
    oil
    oil filter
    differential fluid

they also had the audiovox stereo pulled out because it ate one of our CDs.

after 5 days now, they said it was going to be replaced with a new one.

mukhang sirain itong mga audiovox products. first, it was the alarm (but perhaps this first case was just because of wrong installation/configuration) and now the stereo.

Yup. Iba iba. Parang yung racket ng Toyota Otis. That's why when I used to have PMS done at the casa for the Besta, I had it done AS PER MANUAL.

I review the job order before it is put in the car or handed to the technician/mechanic.

Let's say na lang he's doing 8km/lt, impossible naman na you won't be able to see a fuel refilling station before maubos ang 12 liters. Aabot +-80 kms din matra travel mo.

speaking of fuel consumption, may i ask for an update on your sorento's fuel consumption? i couldn't seem to get above 7.4kms/ liter, and this already has a bit of highway driving already. anyone getting above 8.5kms/liter?

Once , did a 11km+/l but it was a pure long stretch driving, going all the way to the southern part of Cebu, with few breaking movements and light foot on the gas.. But right now, just doing 7 to 8, combination... But I also did a 6km+/l, that was when pushing the Sorento, and racing (although not a virtue to be proud of) against some teenagers..... hehehe

hahaha, the engine pull it has is very tempting kasi eh, but really has its toll on fuel consumption. I guess i'm getting average consumption as you also register between 7-8 kms/l. I could never get it to reach 10kms/l though as the only time to reach this is on the highway with a very light foot, the only time naman that i feel the temptation to floor it.

8km/liter sa city driving yung sa amin.
i also did 9 km/liter before when we went to lucban, quezon last november and that was with a lot of idling due to waiting and heavy traffic in san pablo/santo tomas on the way back.

you're quite right about that. the abundance of torque in the sorento is very tempting. para kasing wala lang sa kanya kung 80-100kph ka lang.

2 weekends ago, there was this toyota surf (mukhang subic import) that's a little reckless in its moves along the hiway in sto tomas batangas. i just could not resist proving to him that the sorento is way faster than his vehicle kaya hayun pag dating sa SLEX going to manila, hinabol ko sya habang humarurot sya. sandali lang naiwan ko na sya. after the burst, balik na ako sa normal pace ko. overtake na din sya pero medyo nagmenor na din sya.

Unit ko city driving na record ko consumption lowest is 7.2km/l at highest is 8.6Km/l. Highway naman lowest 7.4 km/l at highest is 11.4km/l.

    Hi Guys,

Have you noticed that for Kia Sorento with the 5speed Auto Trans/tiptronic transmission, the required fluid is Kia Red-1. I searched it over the web for compatibility but so far, none. Any Idea on this? Thanks..

Thanks guys for your feedback on consumption. Hmm, seems like i'm the only one experiencing 7kms/l. I always try to avoid rush hour traffic pa naman on edsa, and i almost always try not to go past 2k rpm. That's in the city though, highway, i think i only got 6-6.5kms/l on my way to baguio last december. kakaovertake siguro, hahaha.

Power-wise, yes very strong engine and quite stable at speed. We also have a patrol and it's strong and stable too, problem with it is the very sensitive MAF sensor. When it gets dirty, you lose so much power, parang walang turbo. The problem with some casas is that they won't tell you that there's something wrong with it, they'll even tell you "ganyan ho talaga yan sir, mabigat kasi." Hay. Good thing the sorento seems reliable pa naman. I hope none of the sensitive stuff for us sorento owners though. I've had some suspension squeaks and some rattling under the hood though. Heard it while driving from Tanay, very quiet stretch of highway. Can't seem to hear them now bacuase of the metro's busy roads.

    Gregg,

Sorry, haven't had any service done to mine yet as i'm still at the 4,000 km mark. I'll try to look into it though.

so far I am not hearing any regarding squeaks or rattle with our Sorento. But with our Picanto there is. I have called the service advisor already about this though, and will have it checked when my wife's picanto reaches the 5k mark for the change oil.

that's good to hear. you got a good unit there. i hope you get good service from your casa for your Picanto. i've had very bad experience with the casa that serviced my sorento months back. they couldn't solve the rattling on my driver side door. hay, at least it's still a good drive.

I asked this when the 20thou km check-up was done because I was surprised when I was charged 3 liters of gear oil aside from the 8 liters of engine oil. Sabi ko, buti hindi transmission fluid? Sabi ng supervisor, Kia Red-1 would have to be used for that and you cannot use the commonly available ATF, P800/liter daw yun.
