Nothing final pa naman...between the 105bhp 4x2 D4d Fortuner and the 145bhp 2.5 4x4 Sorento, I'd take the Sorento anytime. Unless you really wanted a 3rd seat and dual a/c.

I like the interior layout of the Sorento better. More cubbyholes and storage spaces. Covered storage pa so hindi mukhang makalat unlike those odd shaped holes under the Fortuner's center a/c vents. Rear underfloor storage compartment on the Sorento, too. The cupholders on the Sorento can hold a Wendy's biggie iced tea full of ice, I'm not sure of the pull out unit of the Fortuner can carry that much weight.

Sorento is also 5-speed matic, 4 wheel disc brakes, lift up tailgate glass (for small items).

Hindi rin masyadong hot sa mga magnanakaw.

Guys, any idea if the rear seats of local Sorento EX's have adjustable seatbacks? Not necessarily fully reclining, basta pwede lang isandal pa ng kaunti.

How much is the towing capacity of a diesel Sorento? The V6 used to have it at 3,500lbs (too low), the facelifted 2007 V6 takes it up to 5,000lbs.

for diesel sorento, the manual says that if the trailer that you will tow has no brake system of its own, only 750 kgs. but if it has, 2500 kgs.

hey everyone! I've been a lurker in tsikot quite some time now. Recently I saw an ad in C! magazine a black Sorento and on the side you can barely see the "VGT" sign. Does this mean that the VGT engine of the sorrento is already out? I went to Kia E. Rod and I saw the entry level and was told that it was not the VGT. Can anyone please confirm if the VGT model is out for the Sorento?

The local Sorentos are not yet VGT. Still the 145bhp 2.5CRDi mated to the 5-speed manumatic.

No word yet whether VGT will come at a later date. Even the EX grade model at Kia Quezon Ave is still not VGT.

Personally, ok na sakin kahit hindi VGT. One less thing to worry about. Besides, 145bhp is already leagues better than the motor I have now.

    guys, question lang.
when i inspected last week the dip stick for the sorento's motor oil, the end of the dip stick is sort of twisted near the end. ganun ba talaga?
it's the first time since we got the unit that i pulled it out to check on the motor oil level. just want to know if it's normal.

Yup, it's normal. It prevents the dipstick from flapping around in there. Keeps the oil down, too.

thanks. akala ko kasi na-deform while being serviced. altho maayos na maayos yung twist kaya mukhang normal nga. thanks again.

I tried 80kph so far very impressive ang handling sa smooth surface specially wet curved spalto roads ,ramdam mong your on a 4wheel mode ,parang kapit na kapit sa kalsada yung gulong, tried it on rocky hills and desert dunes ,i even tried running 4hi on deep sand dunes using manual tiptronic mode ( plus /minus ..

Sir part time ba or full time 4wd yung Sorento mo. The part-time system should never be used on paved roads po kasi. Yung mga local po kasi puro part-time, baka may gumaya. hehehe.

Otherwise you might encounter the binding phenomenon (nangyayari din ito when travelling straight on some vehicles): http://www.4x4abc.com/4WD101/def_turn.html

Btw, Kia Quezon Avenue has a Tomato grilles and badges.

salamat sa feedback sir Otep ,part time 4X4 yung sorento ko ..
nasa abroad ako kaya choice ko na tong sorento kasi mas mura considering all the options sa sorento, compared to toyota fortuner .matanong ko lang ano kaya ang mas ok ang handling ang performance sorento, fortuner or ford everest nagiisip din kasi akong bumili sa pinas if ever na magka uwian na .. knock on wood..
