Just want to ask the Kia sorento owners about the performance of the 2005 2006 diesel models.I'm thingking of getting one as my service vehicle. Are the parts reasonable and readily available? How is the reliability? Is body still good and does not rust easily. Please feel free to give me some feedback thanks.

Got to talk to one of the guys from Kia Acropolis regarding the 1.330M Sorento.

Eto ang sinabi saking tinanggal mula sa LX model (1.59M):
- Backup sensors
- Roof rail
- Mud guard

Di ko maalala kung meron pa pero nothing major talaga.

Went to Kia Greenhills the other day to inquire regarding the 1.330M AT Diesel Sorento. Very disappointed with the Sales Consultant. Halata hindi niya alam binebenta niya. Labo ng mga sagot and mukulit tungkol sa 1.09M MT Gas Sorento. Ilan beses ko sinabi na gusto ko diesel & AT.

Ito sinabi sa akin (take this with a grain of salt):
Pareho daw yun 1.09M & 1.33M variants in terms of features except for the engine & transmission.

No fog lamps
No mudguards
No roof rails
Body color door handles
Black side mirrors/ no side mirror lights
5 seater
No rear aircon vents although there appeared to be a small vent on the hinge of the rear doors.
HU appeared to be very simple
No audio controls or cruise control on the steering wheel
2 airbags
Was not able to ask about the backing sensor or ABS

The sales consultant had no idea what freebies or cash discounts are offered. No idea how much to upgrade the HU to a touchscreen unit with GPS or the side mirrors.

Really thinking of getting the 1.330M Sorento 2.2 R-VGT 6 speed AT instead of a GLS-V Montero. Hoping to get some feedback here.

That seems to be the same line/list that the SA's in other Kia branches have. But supposedly they have 2nd row a/c vents.

get the 1.230M M/T Sorento. napakagaan ng 2.2 CRDi ng Hyundai / Kia for you to get an A/T. I used to drive an M/T Strada and survived it for 8 years. having to drive a Sta Fe A/T 2.2 Crdi na sobrang stress free, na sobrang bored ako driving a AT, lagi ko ginagamit Manual mode parang lang may magawa.

and parang ang laki ng tubo ni Columbian sa A/T 100K hello, for a transmission?

mga features na akala nyo sayang sa Sorento but really can live without:

without mudguards - my Sta Fe has no mudguards, okey lang minsan lang dumumi car ko, and even if madumi I love cleaning my car

steering controls - ang nagagamit ko lang steering control eh volume control and channel change. sus pwede naman abutin yun stereo sa gitna oh

roof rails - for what? sa bilis ng 2.2 Crdi baka mawala pa bagahe mo pag nilagay mo sa taas yun

side mirror lights - i'd rather not have that feature. sta fe ko dami gasgas sa side mirror from passing motorcycles and some scratching with other SUV's with side mirrors. ayoko naman tuwing na lang mag-gasgas eh basag yun light na yun. gastos yun

rear aircon vents - mayroon side aircon vents and it's good enough to cool the car. it's a diesel car ang lakas ng aircon nyan.

backing sensors - even if without, kaya-kayang yan sa banawe yan, 900 lang, 30 mins. kabit na.

what i don't like about this bare sorento is it's black bumpers. but this is something na pwede maremedyuhan if you buy Black Sorento. our Starex GRX is also entry level nun binili with black bumpers. so bumili kami ng black na Starex and look at it now, it commands respect kasi all black heheh.

if i'm to buy this bare Sorento, I'll definitely get the black one. it will look like a black Navigator or Expedition sa mga MMDA natin. and i don't need to buy additional cosmetics, baka black tint na lang hehe

now regarding naman the reply of the SA, hehehe. sabi ko na nga ba, they have this more than 10 variants of Sorento but hindi sila mag-stock. same banana / scheme nila before binago lang. dati pre-order ngaun naman may pricelist LoL.

this only means hindi assured ang volume stocks nyan bare CRDi sorento. paasa mode na naman ang Columbian para pag naubusan ka ng pasensya eh bilhen mo ang bare gasoline Sorento of which napakalaki ng tubo nila, kasi yun lang naman ang kaya nila orderin ng volume sa Korea. hindi nila ma-meet ang quota limit ng CRDi sorento ng ibang countries. as usual.

so maybe again, these are deals that are too good to be true. again na naman, circa 2012.

for the love of God, don't settle for the gasoline M/T sorento. sigurado yan sa body nyan, maswerte na kayo sa 5km/liter.

I can live without the side mirror lights. I would, however, have the mirror casing color keyed, leaving the stalk black of course.

what i don't like about this bare sorento is it's black bumpers. but this is something na pwede maremedyuhan if you buy Black Sorento.

Surprisingly, the white EX Sorento we test drove yesterday had the same black bumper at the back (like in the pic below) while the front had a big black piece in the middle. That seems to be the real paint scheme of the higher end model. Not bad for the LX.


Don't those 18s remind you of the 18s on the Sonata? Hehe!

^ the 1.3m CRDI 2wd variant exterior basically similar to the pic above except for the missing roof railings, spoiler, door side moldings,color keyed side mirrors, door handle garnish, fog lights and has 17" rims instead of 18

then again you can get them (most) for free depending on your dealer and kapag in-house financing scheme

look at the pics, eh di ba hindi halata nag black bumpers. hanggang ngaun respetuhin yan starex namin na yan, sa mga golf courses as well as pag na flag-down kami ng MMDA. minsan natsambahan pa mga naka-barong kami for a wedding, pumasok kami sa one way, pagbukas ng bintana, biglang sumaludo yun mga MMDA, at sabi Sir! cge po tuloy na kayo

Hindi nga daw low end variant yang nasa picture na Sorento. Even the higher end EX models sport the same black bumper, which is a plus for the LX.

Thanks po...I was leaning toward the Sportage, but the SA convinced me to the Sorento...and I think I made the right choice.

I would have to agree with you on that one sir. Had I not been constrained by budget, I would have taken the same path as you.
