I tried 80kph so far very impressive ang handling sa smooth surface specially wet curved spalto roads ,ramdam mong your on a 4wheel mode ,parang kapit na kapit sa kalsada yung gulong, tried it on rocky hills and desert dunes ,i even tried running 4hi on deep sand dunes using manual tiptronic mode ( plus /minus ..
there are tomato grills and badges at kia pasay also. that's where we got our unit and those items too.
have not tried 4hi at 100kph since no need on paved roads but glad to know it handles well on the terrains you mentioned.

Is it true na walang ABS ang EX variant ng Sorento? motioncars.com indicated kasi na meron ABS yung EX.

When you start it up, the ABS lamp on the dash is supposed to light up (self test).

Also if you look under the hood, you will see the ABS pump. It looks like a box with steel pipes coming out of it (going to the brakes).

Ideally no tire should lock up during braking. Because the strongest braking force occurs just before lock up ('impending lock up' ang tawag dun). On SUV's it is normal for the front tires to lock up first because there is a load sensing proportioning valve on the rear which limits braking force when the vehicle is not loaded. Otherwise, masasayang lang ang braking force kapag nag-lock ang gulong. Locked wheel = no braking force (tire friction na lang which is very low).

Whether you lock up early or lock up late also depends on your tires. More road oriented tires can stand more braking force than off-road tires before locking up.

I am planning to buy the Sorento EX hopefully by end of this month. Can anybody here give me a recommendation on which dealer to approach? Would appreciate if you can also give me the contact person’s name and e-mail address of the dealer as I am in China at the moment and the only way I can get in touch with the dealer is thru e-mail.

I was impressed with the Sorento being sold here in China. I went to a Kia dealer last weekend to look at the Sorento being displayed at their showroom. The unit I saw is the 3.5 V6. It has sunroof, automatic air-conditioning, and cruise controls at the right side of the steering wheel and audio controls at the left. I was hoping I can test drive the unit but I was told there was no unit that is available for test drive. Two months ago the price that was quoted to me was RMB 338,000 (around PHP 2,197,000). Last week the price displayed on the windshield is RMB 298,000 (PHP 1,937,000). Imported from Korea that’s why it is very expensive.

The new Sportage was also on display. It is smaller than the Sorento and the interior trims are less exciting. The Sportage though has better styling than the Hyundai Tucson and is more expensive than the Tucson. 2.7 4WD A/T Sportage is RMB 273,000 while the 2.7 GLS 4WD A/T Tucson is RMB 235,800.

I also dropped by at the Honda dealership to check on the 2.4 AT CRV. In my opinion, the Sorento has better styling both interior and exterior compared to the CRV. The price of the 2.4 CRV is RMB 252,800 (PHP 1,643,200).

[I]Sorento is indeed a good choice. You may try to contact Kia Quezon Avenue (FEMAC MARKETING, INC. 113 Quezon Ave., Sto.Domingo, Q.C.). Their e-mail address is kia_qa*yahoo.com. Good luck![/I ]

Sila din recommend ko. Madali magpaservice and they give you better deals than other dealers. I don't know anyone sa FEMAC yet they are still accomodating.

Thanks, Otep, for the info. So far the e-mail I sent to them last night via their old e-mail address hasn't come back yet. Will e-mail them again using the "new" address.

    GO1,

Pls. access this: http://www.kia-forums.com/41453-mtmkia.html. mtmkia, I think, is one of the biggies at Kia Quezon Ave. I have the impression, from how he responded to questions from customers and prospective customers of any Kia product, that he is a knowledgeable and highly approachable person. He is also actively involved with the Sorento Club of the Philippines. Send him also a pm when you access the site of kia-forums.
