The Fotrtuner's full-time 4WD is as good offroad as the Sorento's part-time, with its low-gearing. But the Fortuner is saddled with a longer wheelbase and body length, running boards and a high-rise front hood, obstructing the view up front. In the final analysis, it will be a match between two equally good offroad machines and their drivers. Both are body-on-frame, have coil/live-axles on the rear. The Fortuner has a higher center of gravity and that may make it difficult for it to traverse 30 degree side inclines. So the challenge stands…

OT na ito. More pics of the camp! You might want to start a Camp Rock thread in the Pitstop area, too.

Yong speed-sensitive door lock ba, anong speed ba dapat sya mag activate?
Yong unit ko kasi minsan 50km/hr tapos minsan naman 40 km/hour.

Walang exact speed iyan. Around 40kph dapat. Ok lang kung ma-late or mauna ng konti.

OTEP and gregg_g, thanks for the info.
Sorento tlx, when I bought my unit, it's with keyless entry na so maybe it's already installed on Sorento units being sold here sa pinas.

mine is 'local' sorento with keyless entry na.

gregg_g and jeanpierre, did you ever find a need to shift to manual on steep inclines? kinaya ba ng automatic mode. just asking because our tiptronic transmission does not have D2 and L auto modes found in fully automatic vehicles.

Actually no, the automode just seemed to sense the need to downshift to a lower gear...

jrln, I agree with gregg_g. I tried using it last time when we did a visit sa Tagaytay highlands and Talisay via the steep shortcut route pababa ng taal lake area. We were 6 na sakay that time and it seems to work perfectly.

I suggest to check with the dealer where your auntie will buy her Sorento para walang problem ang electrical warranty pag nagpa install ka ng alarm. Sa dealer ko, may selection sila ng alarm at back up sensors. Meron din silang with a pager which is really designed for Sorento kaya lang since it's high tech, medyo mahal. Check mo Wheels at KIA quezon ave.

Yep, I couldn't agree more with Jeanpierre, better go to the dealer, better safe than sorry.. Take this as an example, http://www.kia-forums.com/t5630-afte...r-sorentos.htm

thnks jeanpierre. this is important feedback just in case i get to climb a steep road or trail. so in auto mode, it will sort of 'hold' it at a low gear considering we dont have D2 or L and hence no need to go manual.

thanks again to you and gregg_g.

    Hi Jrln,

But if your feeling the rush, you can take advantage of the manual mode (is this the term?)...
