What do you think? Possible reason?
Effects of Upsized Wheels and Tires Tested - Tech Dept. - Car and Driver
Yup true.
Case in point:
My SF CRDi AT using 235/65R17 - avg. 9km/liter all city
Montero AT using 265/65R17 - avg 7km/liter all city (from Montero thread)
2km diff bec of tire size.
Yun Starex GRX CRdi AT namin - avg 7km/liter all city. Imagined at par Lang sa Montero FC, considering ambigat ng kaha ng 1st gen Starex, since late 90's kaha pa Ito. Eh kasi yun pala tires nya eh 205/70R15 - the same as my CRV 1st gen with Bridgestone Dueller 205/70R15 at also 7km/liter all city pero gas naman to.
and since mas Madami idle time ang MM, imagine always jump starting the big tires from idle sa traffic, grabs talaga FC nyan. Compared to MT na engaged kagad.
Don't pay attention to computer trip meters walang kwenta yan talaga, since early 2000, we had 2 American v6 cars with on board trip meters, Mali-Mali reporting, we did the manual computation based on full tank to empty, ayan lumabas 3km/liter average pag all-city. Chevy and Ford Ito.
So yan readings nyo sa Kia yan na yun.
Imagine nyo rims ng gulong nyo 17" eh rims na ng stock Montero, SF, Sorento yan ah lol, no wonder you're getting a SUV FC numbers. Sa pagkaalam ko yun Sorento na gasoline also uses the same 235/65R17 like the Sorento R and the 2nd gen SF which is averaging at 5.5 km/liter according to Xander and mrgunn sa Sorento thread.
So enjoyin nyo na Lang perks ng top of the line features ng Kia Rio HB, anyways since nakabili nman kayo ng top model, gasoline is no problem

Wala bang Rio HB EB? Para makumpara natin san ba talaga may problem????
I would suggest Kia BGC.![]()
fc update: 250km travelled, 120 dyan ay hiway. 9km/l ang fc ko for the second time consecutively. mababa pa rin.

True enough. Dont own a rio5 but basing on my own experience with my crosswind xto. Stock tire size is 205/65r15 with fc of 11-12 km/l depende kung nagpapalamig sa luob while waiting. Purely city driving yan with traffic and short distance travelled. But when time came na mag change tire nah, i used 205/70r15. Dun na nag start magloko fc and nag suffer pa ang acceleration which is barely there to begin with. Mga around 8-9 km/l nalang fc and bumigat pa steering and just imagine 1 size bigger lang ang tire na pinalit, dami nag bago.
To make long story short, suffered for 4 years bago kailangan change ulit. Binalik ko na stock size tires.
Imagine nyo nalang na wheel size nang sedan is 15" then ang hatch is 17". What a big difference. The lesser the tire size the lesser the friction.
My latest FC:
19 liters of Caltex Silver
Eco On, Eco Off
Kilometer reading: 128.6
FC: 6.77 km / liter
From MID
10.2L/100KM
Avg speed 19km/h
Time: 1 hour
Distance 19.6 kms
ODO 2300kms
Petron Blaze
Mixed - Dona Soleda (Bicutan) w/ medium traffic -> Skyway up tp Don Bosco exit w/ medium traffic * exit-> Osmena hway -> Romualdez -> Quiapo -> Sta. Cruz
yung avg speed and time ba automatically nagrereset yun everytime gamitin yung sasakyan?
I've been off the grid for a week, failed to update all of you on my progress.
Kia just serviced my Rio5 ECU trying to downgrade the Euro-4 to Euro-2 but but because they can't find a way to access and change the settings. The procedure came up and was recommended by local kia service tech and after consultation with CAC, which agreed to the recommendation. The service department tried the same approach before with the Carens and it was successful but the new ECU of Rio is not easy to access and adapt the changes in config.
Anyway, the "good" news is I was told that a technical engineers from Kia S. Korea is coming over the Country to look into our fc problems. CAC will also be sending a tech here in Cagayan de Oro City to look into my fc problem also. Based on this info I can say Kia is seriously dealing with the situation regarding our poor fc and it won't be long the matter will get resolved soon, I hope.
FC update:
By limiting my engine speed to 2,000rpm in A/T mode yielded a better fc from ave. 5.5km/L to 6.5km/L (manual compute). Although still very high fc for a 1.4L sub-compact car and quite not practical driving in that low rpm all the time but hey, I'll take it! Kaya lang the trips I made on this test of P500 worth of fuel (8.7L) is: total 56.2km on routes going to SM twice and Honda area, all considered highways. Only bout half is normal City traffic conditions.
