Sana nga mag improve. My family is contemplating to buy either a bnew Cruze or Orlando next month. Either of the two, I am planning to conduct fc evaluation by having the Rio and the Chevy at full tanks do a city drive, naka-convoy para pareho lahat variables. This way, wala nang arguments if my Rio5 is indeed a gas guzzler and how big is the discrepancy.
VVT equipped engines are high tech and doesn't need a long break-in time. 1K is sufficient enough to loosen the piston rings and loosen the movable parts on the drive-train. VVT adjust the timing on the fly and real-time kaya yong fc efficiency is optimum na from the start and slight lang yong improvement after break-in unlike diesels, which works on compression and dahil low revving ang engine, it requires longer break-in time (in mileage). Just my two cents.
If the Cruze consumes about the same as the Optra my family had before, it should fall around 7-8km/L. 6km/L would be the worst. And worst means getting stuck in traffic for a very long time. Sayang we had to sell it kasi lumalabas na mga sira. But it was a solid vehicle.
I've heard the Lancer EX 2.0AT can consume 8km/L on an average.Pwede ano?
Anyway, *cyberian, may throttle lag ba Rio mo? The "throttle relearning" procedure I was telling couple of pages back might help. Ewan ko lang how to do it specifically para sa Rio. Pero sa Vios kase nagawa ko siya and it lessened if not totally deleted the throttle lag which was very evident when I got the car from CASA.
Yup, most owners in the Cruze/Chevy threads report 6-8 km/L in city driving. Quite expected - a little bit higher than other 1.8s (Elantra and Civic), and about the same level as several 2-liter compacts.
This just further highlights why 6 km/L isn't acceptable at all for a 1.4L Rio that weighs at least 200 kg lighter than most TOTL compacts.
I hope maayos na fc problem ng RioHb. We're planning pa nman ng kaibigan ko na kumuha ng RioHb this Sept. We'll wait for your update Mr. Cyberian. Thank you for your posts.
it hink I'll just observe here first, I'm using this as my basis to decide on the Rio HB. My current ride a 98 RAV4 4x4 consumes 5km/l on the worst traffic and 6.5km/L on good days. the Rio would be a downgrade but the only thing I do like about it is the size, it's won't be larger than my current ride. everything else like Power, ride height and cabin capacity is less than what i have.
I agree, the Optra is a solid and reliable car. Unfortunately, 8 years at 128K mileage is already taking it's toll on the mechanical parts kaya it will be the one to go and trade-in for the Orlando or Cruze. When I ride the Optra after spending a lot of time sa Rio5, I realized how outdated the interior is although the exterior is holding up but the front design is also showing it's outdated design.
Throttle lag is usually evident on vehicles not equipped with the mechanical gas pedal (cable type). Since it's an electronic switch and feed the signal to the ECU, it can be reprogram or re-calibrated. I do have a throttle lag on the Rio5 and I will have it corrected as per your suggestion soon after the fc is resolved. Thank you for the inputs mate!
Mura na ah! The top of the line A/T was being sold at P1.3M and I told the SA na kunti nalang dagdag nasa all-new Sonata kana that just got launched at that time.
The Forte was supposed to compete in the compact car segment but at the entry price of a mid-sized segment. What were CAC thinking?! Now, it's a little too late to attract buyers as other competing cars got redesigned. The Forte design is also showing it's age, nawala na ang head-turning, jaw dropping yong dating! Sayang it missed the boat, it could have been a popular car and a hit have CAC priced it competitively- on this segment.
You are welcome sir. My concern is everyone's concern too. I will post soon how my local Kia fixed the problem and provide details of the procedures so everyone with an fc problem will be guided accordingly. The way how my local Kia is handling my concern with serious thoughts and considerations has given me trust and confidence in their ability to have the problem resolved soon.
The 6km/L of the Chevy is reportedly the worst city fc scenario- "getting stuck in traffic for a very long time" (renzo_d10), and that is not even my Rio5 best city fc. My most fuel efficient yield was 5.76km/L and the worst is 5.18km/L! It's like driving a V6 SUV in a sub-compact car! Sigh![]()
Oo nga. Imagine ganyan lang din mga complain before sa Accent thread. Buti ka nga nag-5.18km/L. Yung iba na Accent owner, 4km/L lang before. Hehe.
Thanks mate!
I'm happy every time I drive the Rio5. It's smooth, seemingly fast for a 1.4 on the fast lane, driving ergonomics is great, and the sporty interior design and black finish does not only look good but also feels good. I also love the sporty red lighting on the dash ala Audi. The only time I frowned is after fill ups, computing for the last full tank's fc run.
i own a rio sedan and i can say that consumption is quite high for speeds at around 20 km/h or less. idling also consumes much more than normal. for light traffic and highway driving,fc is actually above average to excellent. it's a good thing i am not experiencing 5 km/l but i believe an improvement is still necessaryany definitive updates with regard to the computer configuration modifications by kia?
