I don't get it. They know people would prefer the M/T over A/T so why won't Kia bring them over?

More people prefer to drive AT these days because of the bad traffic in the metro. Even I have to prefer automatic tranny in my daily driven cars.

hehe that's to be expected, on pure highway, my sportage can do 7.6-7.7L/100km running at 100kph. im more curious on city driving consumption.

guys can you pls post FC on pure city driving. also mention your route, day of the week and time of the day thanks!

i had the chance to drive my ex mt rio for 66 kilometers last friday. it was fun as i was able to use the 6th gear. i noticed though that there was not much 'ummmph' when switching to 6th from 5th. at 1500rpm in 5th gear, i was making 50kph. at 6th gear it was 60kph. i managed 6.9L/100km as per trip computer.

just bought kia rio ex mt last april first time ko nag out of town last saturday sa tagaytay. sarap niyang dalhin sa highway. i was surprised pero nag 20 - 22km/l ako while traversing slex. bumaba na lang 13km/l once we reached tagaytay dahil mejo paahon tapos daming sasakyan. ang tanong ko lang sa other rio owners, may napansin ba kayo na mahina ang hatak niya. nabibitin ako lalo na sa paakyat na portion sa tagaytay. hindi kaya ng 3rd gear kelangan talagang kumuha pa ng buwelo from second gear kaya yung nabaon ko na 5km/100 l nung nasa slex ako tumaas ng tumaas hangang umabot ng 7km/100 l. gamit kong fuel is shell unleaded. napansin ko na mejo mahina ang hatak nung nag pagas ako ng shell. una kong full tank i used petron xcs. bilis maubos siguro kasi ginagamay ko pa ang auto. nasa 7km/l lang ako. work ko pang gabi. galing ako from antipolo to eastwood daan ko marcos highway then c5. may kunting traffic lang papasok ng eastwood. after nun nag petron unleaded na ako. mejo tumaas na. nag 12km/l na ako. ngayon sa shell, nasa 11 km/l kaso hina talaga ng hatak lalo na paakyat dito samin. try ko rin caltex unleaded para malaman kung san mahihiyang ang rio. meron din ako isa pang napansin, pag uwi namin, may naamoy akong gasolina sa harap. first time nangyari ito. although kinabukasan nawala naman siya. overall, satisfied pa naman ako. nasa 1300kms pa lang tinatakbo niya.

Mga sirs, just had my kia rio lx ata model nun 1.4 a/t sedan, just last monday. ask ko lang kung talaga bang magiimprove ang fuel consumption ko after 1000kms? fc ko kasi ngayon nasa 8.1liters/km lang though once pa lang ako nag compute ng full tank using caltex silver. naubus ang gas ko when i went to tagaytay so mixed city and highway driving ako then ganun lang fc ko. thanks for any inputs

8.1liters/km?? or 8.1km/liter.. Depende ang fuel consumption sa maraming bagay... driving style is one factor then yung dinaraanan mo, sobra ba ang traffic, moderate or light? Kung palaging light traffic lang e medyo malakas ang 8.1kpl. Tingnan mo ang iyong driving style - heavy footed ka ba? In my experience of using three brand new cars, FC has been consistent from first use. Naka factory break-in na kasi ang mga iyan.

Ya, mababa yan. That's what I get on my 1.8L Civic FD MT.

FC dashboard indicators are usually stated in li/km.
8.1 li/km is more than good for city driving. I think 8.1 km/li for city driving is average for a 1.4L car but very low for hway.

di naman. no vibration at all. napansin ko lang na "boaty" ang suspension ng rio. obvious na kapag hindi level ang road, concrete or asphalt. reminded me of my puerto galera trip from batangas port.

Mababa nga iyan. Try to get a trend pattern first. Load up at the same station, at the same pump and automatic only, huwag mong pasagad. You can surely try and complain sa casa. As in my case, inireklamo ko yung FC ng 2010 Rio at 9 kpl, all the casa did was to reprogram the ECU. But it did not have any significant improvement at all.
