Ah... considerable improvement on the trip home tonight:
Kia Rio 1.4 AT EX Sedan - 8.5km from The Fort to Pasig in 30mins (21:00 - 21:30) = 11.5L/100km = 8.7km/L

kung gusto makatipid, dont turn on the ac, dahil bumababa talaga yun injection time.

Is he sure? You can listen to find out if the compressor really doesn't turn off. Or we could check it on the dyno sometime when we have another test unit.
hi niky ito rin observation ko noon bago rio5 ko kasi nga hindi nag automatic on off ang compressor unlike sa vios ko na alam mo na mag click.and obsevation ko nga pag on ko aircon imbes na bumagal yun takbo ng car mas bumilis. ngayon niky my question is can kia do something about this? at sa euro3 compliant ng rio puede din ba nila ayusin yun? finally mag improved ba FC ko if i use the petron BLAZE 100 gasoline?
[QUOTE=niky;2001387] we could check it on the dyno sometime when we have another test unit.
hi niky you will be much appreciated kung magawa mo mag test drive ng 2012 kia rio hatchback, please request for the 4 speed automatic like our car, baka kasi ibigay sayo yun manual na. and after your test drive, post your review or findings and if possible suggestion to improve our FC.di kasi namin matanggap na ang isang sub compact 1.4L cvvt engine ay malakas sa gas.ngayon pa lang mag pasalamat na ako sayo.

The 1.4 HB is the only variant I haven't driven. I'll try to line it up, soon. ;)
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Nope. When manufacturers lend out test units, they prefer to lend out automatics. Most journos won't test fuel economy anyway, and they always give a full tank. Very rarely will you get a manual transmission test unit for anything. They give out ATs so that the journos will have an easier time driving them and will more likely write a favorable review.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
From what i noticed, the compressor will turn off if I disabled the AC even if the blower is still working. but setting the temp higher (hotter) - didnt notice any changes from it.
I tried this several times before, but i could be wrong.

I agree with c_cube
Nagtitimpla ang hot and cold. Not on off ng compressor.. The only time na naririnig or ramdam yung pag off on ng compressor is literally turning the AC switch on and off
Sorry guys for the late reply. My dealer called me last Monday a day after my complaint and schedule daw sa test drive this Saturday.
Imagine a compact car meant for city driving cannot give good FC....
tsk tsk tsk
i can finally conclude na ang reason ng bad FC ng rio5 are:1.the aicon system na sa simula pa lang ng topic ng bad fc ng rio5 nasabi ko na dahil nga hindi nag automatic off-on kasi may heater. kaya malakas din kapag naka idle ka. 2. suspect ko din yun euro3 compliant ng engine natin at dahil dito we either wait till 2016 for the gasoline to comply or let kia make an adjustment tune it to euro2 compliant, ito lang dalawa ang suspect poor quality pa kasi gasoline natin dito.kaya yun mga dating sasakyan na nag average ng 10km nasa 7km na lang ngayon. and about sa size ng tires and wheels i dont believed na maging ganon dramatically baba ng FC dahil yun mga ibang car na nag papalit from stock to bigger wheels di naman ganon kalaki difference.
fellow rio HB owners, panu mgkabit ng plate number s harap? pansin ko kasi walang butas for screw.

True enough. Dont own a rio5 but basing on my own experience with my crosswind xto. Stock tire size is 205/65r15 with fc of 11-12 km/l depende kung nagpapalamig sa luob while waiting. Purely city driving yan with traffic and short distance travelled. But when time came na mag change tire nah, i used 205/70r15. Dun na nag start magloko fc and nag suffer pa ang acceleration which is barely there to begin with. Mga around 8-9 km/l nalang fc and bumigat pa steering and just imagine 1 size bigger lang ang tire na pinalit, dami nag bago.
To make long story short, suffered for 4 years bago kailangan change ulit. Binalik ko na stock size tires.
Imagine nyo nalang na wheel size nang sedan is 15" then ang hatch is 17". What a big difference. The lesser the tire size the lesser the friction.
