Correct, at safe sya kasi naka Kappa engine sya. Yung EX kasi Gamma which is the same as the one of Accent. I'm praying na wala syang knocking issue.

is there any diffenrence in the exterior of the 1.2 variant compared to the others? may UVO kaya ito or ordinary car stereo lang?
countdown starts today.....15 days before the arrival of the New Kia Rio 5 Hatchback.....excited na ako!!!!
Parang kulay black ata yun.
On 4-dr sedans which is the better buy, Accent 1.4 AT or Rio 1.4 AT? What's do you get for the extra 30k over the accent? Wala pa kasing masyadong specs available for the local version. Anyone have pics of the local units interior?
LoBudget, join the Club Rio Philippines fb group. alot of pictures posted there.
jan 19th pa official launch ng rio. all dealers were given their sedan lx units already. the hatchbacks are still kept a secret until the 19th.
You have a direct link? I cant seem to find it. All i see are the old rios. And one that is literally a club in rio....
Anyway, here's hoping that these new 2012 Rios will not be a 2011 Accent or 2011 Picanto... looking at both those cars it seems the sister companies have the same ECU problems or my bet is sensor issues giving the ECU bad info.

A few days before 2011 bowed down for the curtain call, Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC), the official distributor of Kia in the Philippines, quietly stacked the all-new 2012 Rio sedan into their dealerships without any fanfare. So to substantiate the buzz, we ran to their nearest showroom to check it out.
Our visit confirmed the arrival of Kia's latest four-door subcompact, and at first glance, the Rio's latest incarnation has grown funkier than ever before.
As expected, the interior design is a big leap from the previous generation, but is toned down a bit (probably to keep the prices low). While other countries enjoy an integrated audio unit, the Philippine-spec Rio 1.4 EX gets a 1-DIN in-dash CD player with auxiliary and USB ports just like the Picanto. Thankfully though, the budget cuts didn't sway the retro 80's audio cassette-inspired air con controls that give this little car some character.....

saw one on the road earlier and it was a taxi already, how come nauna pa mga taxi operators?! Di siya bagay pang taxi in my opinion.
Saw one briefly before the dealer closed. Sales still doesnt have the info cards (whatever their called) and are either not allowed to say much about it or are completely clueless.
(Since no plugs were seen on the rear bumper)
Sales: Ay, hindi po. Wala siyang kasama.
Interior looks great. Radio is indeed a crappy 1-DIN. Dint get to see the gauge. Seems to have auto hazard when any door is opened, unless that was the alarm set on silent. Dint have time to notice if it had foglights. Steering wheel had trip meter reset buttons. And it has a 60-40 split rear seating. Rear leg room is better than the Accent. Head clearance seemed higher than the accent. No promos of any kind. 3yr LTO is at least free. Its been a while since tested the accent but the rio did feel narrower in the front area.
got a xeroxed spec sheet already and I am only interested on the 1.4EX hatchback so here are my likes & dislikes:
CONS:
1.4 Gamma Engine (same as the current accent with the knocking/low power/high gas consumption issue if you get a lemon)
Drum Brakes for the rear
4-Speed AT
Fabric Seats (for a budget car already at 838k + korean, dapat kasama na....)
PROS:
1.4 Gamma Engine (when compared to the 1.4 Engine of the Swift & Fiesta, this has more hp and torque)
17-inch alloys, Full Size Alloys for the Spare
Dual airbags, ABS, Keyless Entry with Alarm
Fog Lamps, Rear Spoiler, LED rear lamps
Full Auto Climate Control for the A/C
Tilt & Telescopic Adjustment for the steering, power outlet, sunvisors with mirror & lamp, seat back pockets
Foldable, Heated Side Mirrors with Repeaters
2-DIN radio with Ipod Cable, Bluetooth, 6-Speakers
Glove Box Cooling, Rain Sensors, AutoLight Control
Push Start/Stop Button, Cruise Control, Audio Controls, Trip Computer Buttons on the Steering Wheel
VERDICT:
If you are looking for comfort & convenience, safety, lots of toys inside the car, and dressed up straight from the casa then this is your car.
But if you are looking at performance, drivetrain and possibly a good driving experience, you should look somewhere else.
PS:
The 2012 Kia Soul is just around the corner with the Dual CVVT 1.6 mated to the 6-speed automatic. Revised Interior and Exterior Features. Kaya lang sabi sakin 919k.
hi milkmilk.
the specs i got from 2 dealers (not photocopied) have leather seats.
gave my reservation fees for 2 dealers already. the problem is di nila ma confirm arrival date. sabi dati mid jan. tapos last week, sabi early feb.
