-very modern ang design and feel.
-in typical Hyundai-Kia fashion, yung rear window medyo maliit and mataas.
-rear visibility is not quite good for me.
-maganda yung dashboard and the optitron gauges look nice.
-the engine stalled twice. Di pa siguro gamay ni manong drayberz.

For the price of 588k? 599k? Lol I don't know. It definitely has more features than a Vios base (at 584k) and it looks better, too! (than the Vios base variant only ha) Wala nga lang airbags.

Meron na ba mga naka-1.2LX dito sa Tsikot? Share naman your FCs o. And how's the engine performance? Same engine kasi sila ng i10 and dun ok na ok sya. Yung FC nga lang ng A/T

    Thanks!
kamusta kaya ang FC ng 1.2?

Same question. Yung i10 1.2 A/T namin kasi matakaw!

    Found this hehe

The engine in the new Rio LX is one of the smallest ones in its class: a 1248cc twin cam, 16-valve inline-4 that produces 87 horsepower and 120 Newton meters of torque. As a drive, there's a decent amount of power transferred to the road through a smooth 5-speed manual transmission. Don't expect much performance or perhaps challenging the previous gen Accent CRDI taxicabs on stoplight dashes, as the Rio is best kept at casual speeds for maximum fuel efficiency. Going by the multi-info computer, I was doing 10.2 kilometers per liter in the city (with moderate to heavy traffic) and 15.5 on the highway (light to moderate traffic, 80-100 cruising).

    FC report update- 2012 Kia Rio5/Pride HB 1.4 A/T:

.........................................FULL TANK 1........FULL TANK 2.........FULL TANK
    ...........................Date:......June 4, 2012........June 14, 2012.......June 20, 2012 (that's today)
    ............................Fuel:......Petron XCS..........Petron XCS..........Shell V-Power Nitro+
    ..........................Liters:......34.6L...... ............33.7L..................34.9L

    (Trip Computer Display):
    ..........Distance to Empty:......476km...............492km............. .....501km
    ...........Distance traveled:......204.9km............194km........... ........N/A
    .......................AVG F.C.:.....15.5L/100km.......17.0L/100km..........N/A
    ...........................................or 6.45km/L.........or 5.88km/L........N/A

    (Manual Computation
    .............Full Tank (Liter):.......34.60L..............33.7L.......... .........34.9L
    .......Odometer (traveled):.......204.9km............194km........ ..........N/A
    ......................AVG F.C.:......5.92km/L...........5.76km/L...............N/A

So far, the second full tank yielded no improvement on my fc in full A/T mode. City driving=140kms (est.), highway=54kms (est.). The combined fc of 5.76KM/L at this moment is quite high and deplorable. I’m still halfway to the 1st PMS (1,000kms) though and I’m still hoping of reaching the supposed 8-9km/L city fc as declared by Kia Sales agents.

Even if my fc improves by 20% (est.), which normally does after break-in on my experiences with brand new Corollas (1.3 & 1.6L), Sentra 1.6L and Optra 1.6L, my Rio5 should get an improvement of at least 40% to reach the magic number of 8-9km/L. Those cars I mentioned had better fc figures than this Rio5. Hopefully, Kia will improve the fc after PMS as the SA promised to look into this matter.

This afternoon I’m using a full tank of Shell’s V-Power Nitro+ to see if this fuel yields better fc over the Petron XCS. I will also going to try the Petron’s counterpart- Blaze, soon after.

balewala fuel saving technology ng kahit ano man klase bago car na ilalabas dito basta Manila City Driving ang katapat. so yan na yun, walang problema kia rio nya. you guys rely too much on on board trip computers eh hindi naman AI yun, ang nag-program nyan ng mga engineers binase sa road environment nila like for example sa Korea

since 2003 and 2005, may onbaord trip computers na ang Chevy Venture and Ford explorer namin, kung puwede lang mag-strike yun trip computer sa kung anu-ano nilalabas nya sa daily compute nya hahaha..

that Kia Rio HB is a gas guzzler for 4 reasons:

    - it's A/T with 1.4L engine
    - it has 17" inch rims
    - it's big body na din comparable in size na nga yan sa prev gen Civic.
    - it's gurgling dirty gasoline from our "honest" fuel stations lol

if Kia releases the manual version with lower diameter rims, baka dun pa mag-improve FC nya.

so here are my gathered facts from 3 thread here:

Kia Rio HB - 6km/liter (from this thread)
Kia Soul - 6km/liter (from soul thread)
    Kia Sportage - 6km/liter (from *SG's sportage)

pass Kia na. let's wait for the figures of Skyactive and Ecoboost engines.

kotse ko 10km/h avg speed, fc ko 7.5km/l. ayala ave makati rush hour yan. 2.2 kotse ko

tingin mo wala problema kotse nya?

I think I have to agree with you... fc ng hatch in city is around 6-7L/km only. Last sunday, pumunta ako ng Angeles, at 100kph driving I was only able to lower down the consumption upto 15km/l based on the computer reading.. di ko na nasubukan mag 80kph kasi medyo gahol kami sa oras.. but 80kph is the optimal/most efficient.

Your city figure is what I suspect the real average fc for our Rio5, way lower than Kia's claim of 8-9km/L. I have no qualm on Rio5 true fc if Kia SA just informed me of the actual fc numbers. Unrealistic fc by SA would just make me fuming mad coz it makes me think I'm a jackass.

I'll try running the car according to the scenario you mentioned if I got the chance to drive sa higway. I'll post my observation soon after.

20-50km/h average city speed based on regular tachometer display on the move not based on trip computer at 16 avg speed.

Just been to car wash this morning and the guy next to me grumbled on his Civic 1.8S' high fc of 8km/L around the city. His normal route usually include moderate to heavy traffic from home, office and school trips. His eyes got wide and jaw dropped in disbelief upon hearing my fc. His highway fc yield is at 15km/L. Now his smiling... at my expense if I say so myself.

At present my city fc is closed to or about the same to Camry, Accord, Cr-v 2.4 4x4 and Fortuner gas. Seemed to me this sub-compact Rio5 is a gas guzzler for it's size.

mukhang malakas nga FC ng rio. pansin ko sa fuel gauge ang 1/4 natatakbo ko around 70kms, mixed highway and city with heavy traffic in makati and edsa

but i'll wait for my next full tank to get the actual FC

so kung ganyan na talaga, then that makes it the worst of three worlds na, (1) less powerful engine (malamang hirap ito sa overtakean), (2) gas guzzler, and then (1) low ground clearance car (talo sa baha and potholes). parang sa lahat talo ka na. the only reason why i'm considering to buy again a sedan is bec. I thought newer sedans nowadays are thrifty and nimble, dahil na din sa improvements sa technology. it's been more than 10 years since I drove my last Civic, kaya hindi na ako sanay sa sedan.

oh well, siguro enjoy na lang nyo yun good looks nya and you got a car with start stop engine tech na less than 900K. if you buy the right colors nga lalo na yun red, you can convoy na nga with a Veloster with this beautiful exterior car.

pati nga yun sa Accent na M/T, sabi nila masama daw ang FC din. kasi malaki din ang body talaga ng Accent eh for a 1.4. eh dati yan 1.4 pang Picanto / Getz lang yan

wala pala talaga advantage ang mga new sedans nowadays, ang gastos pa sa pang-ilalim nyan mga yan lagi palit every 2-3 years. Vios lang siguro ang talagang matipid kasi yun taxi drivers na nakakauusap ko, they vouch for its thriftiness

Either my fc problem is isolated or this is the actual fc for Rio5 early on it's mileage and may improved after a few thousands run. Even at 20% gain after break-in, a 7-7.5km/L may not be low for this car of this segment but I can live with it. The car is heavier by 30kgs, has wider & larger tires and rims compared to the sedan of same drive-train, which according to some feedback here the average fc is around 7-8km/L city at moderate traffic.
