maybe because shell nitro+ is only 93 RON, XCS is 95.

This is the reason i stay away from using shell's premium gasoline kasi 93RON lang. kung gusto mo shell dapat yun nitro racing which is 97 RON pero masyado ng mahal. kaya lagi ko gamit caltex GOLD (95 RON) which is the advisable rating from our engine

Wala pa ako nakitang Shell Nitro Racing dito sa Cagayan de Oro City. I tried the Nitro+ after being told it's 95RON and Shell FuelSave Unleaded is 93RON. Wow, I been had!

Anyway, I'll go back to Petron- my usual gas station for years. I'll might as well try Caltex Gold soon, medyo malayo lang yong station.

been monitoring this forum since the thread started. I agree with pop3corn. you don't need to check your odor to compute fc. but so far said mga post Hindi completely empty young Rio hung nag full tank. the rio's tank should be 42 or 45 I think, tapos name loload is just 32 to 35L so you still have about 10L. I've maximised my 1998 2.0L RAV4 4x4 5dr and I achieve 6.5km/l city. I am thinking to go for Kia Rio. but if that's the Fc parang nakakatakot. my full tank is usually 55 to 56 L. my tank capacity is 58L, 2L short of the 2006 to current RAV4. oh btw to ask, in the previous pages it was noted that the Rio uses more fuel in stop, I want to know is if it is D mode while stopped or in N mode?

Trip computer serves best as a quick reference and monitor your present fc on the fly. If you got the manual computation readings of your fc and compare it with your corresponding Trip Computer readings, you will know the slight avg discrepancy and so the moment you glanced again on your trip computer while driving, you can make mental computation on your "actual" fc. It can also weed out variables such as traffics if the corresponding avg speed is provided with the fc figures of others posted here. Though not appropriate to use on getting avg fc on full tank because the avg speed resets the next day. Trip computer is not useless after all, at least for me.

Regarding filling up, I usually wait for the first Low Fuel yellow light. The trip computer's distance to empty will display "-------" if you go below 48km. Pump stop on first click.

Regarding A/T, I usually engaged it to N on longer wait above 5 seconds on traffics. My habit since driving the Starex, my first A/T. In my observation malakas sa gas on idle and sa stop n go compared to the other vehicles (larger body/bigger engine displacement) I had the pleasure of driving. Matipid naman sa highway although limited short runs palang from time to time ako ngayon.

If fc is not too much of a concern, the new Rio is the best bang for the buck (subjective): just released & updated design (matagal pa replacement), bigger size (sedan comparable to the higher category compact vehicles) and lots of standard features/accessories. For performance and handling, I think the Fiesta is better.

Dhil maraming variables ang fc computations, I suggest you test drive a Rio and request the unit to have it full tank. ipasyal mo if possible close to your usual road traffic condition and then after accumulating enough kilometers, say minimum of 20kms, full tank it again and compute the fc para meron ka idea ano approx fc. Mazda is willing to have me test drive their new Mazda3 for performance and fc purposes but busy pa ako at the moment.

guys hingi naman ng advise. officially, isa na ako sa mga kio owners na nagka engine knock. kinonfirm ito ng SA sa kia pasig. yung annoying noise na naririnig ko everytime na naka turn on ang ignition, parang diesel ang makina ko, tapos low power pa lalo na sa akyatan, eto na nga kinakatakutan ko. pero nung dinala ko last week, ang sabi ng isang SA sakin, mawawala daw ito pag 95 ang RON na gagamitin ko. base kasi sa experience nila, meron daw same engine knock problem, bagong rio, pinag fuel lang daw ng xcs tapos di na bumalik. last sunday kakafull tank ko lang ng xcs. nag experiment kasi ako ng mga unleaded fuels ng petron, shell at caltex tiningnan ko kung ano ang pinaka efficient. not knowing na eto pala magiging resulta. hay, kipit balikat na lang ako kahit na may kunting pagsisi dahil rio and vios ang pinagpilian ko talaga. mas malakas na nga kumonsumo ng gas, mag kakaengine knock pa. im taking the word of my SA na pag xcs ginamit ko mawawala yung ingay. im planning na dalawang full tank pag di pa rin nawala, babalik ko na sa kanila ito. any suggestions sa mga kia rio ex owners aside sa pagpalit sa xcs ano pa ba dapat ko ipacheck. sabi kasi nung SA, nung chineck ng computer nila wala daw sila makita. sabi ko hindi naman ganito ang ingay ng makina nung kinuha ko sa kanila. two months pa lang ang rio ko.

Kung change unit mukhang mahirap yan at talagang madugo, siguro refund pa pwede pero hindi ang full amount na.. Malamang gawin nila update o replace ecu lang talaga.

also my rav4 was produced before the beauty of distance to empty so I reset my trip A after every tank up. and so far my computation sticks. plus I only use the car to go to work on really bad rainy days or on weekends.

Kung fc is your main concern, hindi ko marerecommend ang rio dahil meron ibang mas matipid sa gas na sasakyan sa same class category niya. Otherwise.. it's a great car.

Actually 7 to 10 KM/L is good. both Jazz and City 1.5 is 8KM/L. just got a feedback from my cousin who got a Jazz. The CR-V achieve 6.5 to 7 4x2 2011. My RAV4, maybe due to age only reaches 5.5 to 6.0 now.

Not only that, the lower RON Nitro+ gave me the dreaded engine "knocking" sound on at least 4 occasions with the last one the noise is so loud when accelerating in A/T mode doing 40+km/hr that my wife seating on the front noticed and asked "unsa nang banha?!" ("what is that noise?!). Hirap umakyat, mabagal mag accelerate and the engine emitted a louder growl because the lower power made my foot pressing on the accelerator harder. I'll stay away from Shell from now on since I can't seem to find any Nitro+ Racing available locally here in Cagayan de Oro City.

I am now using Caltex GOLD for my next fc evaluation with "ECO" on to make the comparison more or less fair among fuel yields. My current mileage is 715km.

Not only that, the lower RON Nitro+ gave me the dreaded engine "knocking" sound on at least 4 occasions with the last one the noise is so loud when accelerating in A/T mode doing 40+km/hr that my wife seating on the front noticed and asked "unsa nang banha?!" ("what is that noise?!). Hirap umakyat, mabagal mag accelerate and the engine emitted a louder growl because the lower power made my foot pressing on the accelerator harder. Parang knocking & low power issue ng Accent 1.4 AT yan ah. I suggest pacheck mo sa casa, baka need ng ecu reflash katulad ng hyundai accent. Hindi dapat ganyan kababa ang fuel efficiency & power output nyan. Just my thought..

Curious lang, bakit parang ang layo ata ng FC ng Rio sa Accent?

Sa pagbabasa ko sa Accent threads, nasa 9 km/L yung mga naka 1.4AT sa city driving. Eh yung mga naka-Rio na 6 km/L, that's almost 50% higher FC.

Parang imposibleng normal na ganyan kalaki ang disparity, kahit pa sabihing iba yung pagka-tune ng engine. The cars are based on the same platform and have roughly the same curb weight.

Kahit break-in period masyadong malakas yun kay cyberian. Naka eco on pa siya niyan

Kasi yun sa akin, sa city driving with heavy traffic ang naging konsumo 6.7km/l with eco off pero malakas parin for a 1.4.

Pinag tataka ko lang kung bakit sa accent nakakakuha ng 9km/l sa city driving, eh parehas lang naman ang makina. Kaya sa tingin ko sa program ng ecu ang culprit. Malamang iba ang gamit ng kia.
