Sakali may nakita kang part no. E-2023, tip mo nalang ako saan sir ka nakabili.

Will do that sir...Sa isang dealer sa sulit.com ako nakakita pero sabi nya by december pa daw dadating ung mga orders nya n K&N from US. Here is the link anyway...

Based on your experience na wala pa ang Racechip pro installed sa unit nyo sir?

Sir, as much as possible i don't really short-shift. Nakaugalian ko lang. This is also obviously the reason behind those fuel econo-runs posting high mileage numbers.

You may short-shift, of course, provided the road is flat and you're not loaded.

This is usually my shifting pattern, more or less, on flat roads and i'm not loaded, with/or without the Racechip Pro.
1st gear - 1750 rpm
2nd gear - 1750 rpm
3rd gear - 2000 rpm
4th gear - 2000 rpm
5th gear - 1750 rpm to 2000 rpm

When climbing up, say in Kennon or Marcos highway, or in Bitukang Manok going to Bicol:
Prior to any upshifting onto the next gear, say 3rd to 4th to 5th gears, my revs are always about 2250 rpm at the least. And i downshift actively (rektahan) at will going up and coming down the zigzag roads, especially in hairpins....

In spirited runs, however
1st gear - 2000 rpm
2nd gear - 2500 rpm to 3000 rpm
3rd gear - 3500 rpm to 4000 rpm
4th gear - 4000 rpm
5th gear - around >3500 rpm

And i play between 4th gear and 5th in getting out more rev, say up to 4250 rpm prior to 5th.

But this is only my style sir....

Dont check the oil level after paandarin ung engine dahil di agad bumababa ang oil sa pan.

Mga gurus, will the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) in our dmax engine/modern crdi engine will cause problem in the long run? Nag research ako about egr and that its only main function is to reduce smog coming from our diesel engine by recirculating exhaust gas back in to it. Other explanation and/or information are welcome.

" I agree, before turning ON the A/C allow at least 2 mins to 5 mins idling yun engine to properly circulate the lubricant inside the engine. Air-con is 20-30% load sa engine. Add ko pa before turning the engine after long drive, lalo na sa engine na may TURBO. Allow 10- 15 mins on idling without air-con before turning off the engine to cool down the engine and the turbo unit. If you turn-off the engine suddenly after long drive you will damage the oil seal of the turbo unit because the unit is still hot. "

Totoo ba yan?dapat ba tlaga maghintay ka pa ng ilang minutes bago patayin ang engine ng crdi engine ? is this true? Got it sa toyota forum dto sa tsikot. Parang di naman ata ito scientifically proven.

Current turbos need just about a minute to cool down coming from a log drive. TGP has an article (c/o again to hDM) explaining that the time for a driver to slow down and usually park the vehicle after "hataw" is enough to cool down the turbo.

Big rigs are different of course and so are carrying very heavy loads but not more than 2 minutes for todays SUV and pick-ups. No need for turbo timer na nga eh, parang addt'l feature an lang siya if one has budget and just want to be super careful.

I don't follow that one. Once I start the engine, I turn on the aircon right away. I also give it 1 minute to preheat the engine before running especially if it's its first run.

Regarding the turbo, for city driving, I only let it rest for 1 minute with the aircon off but if the weather is hot, I don't turn it off. For long distance driving, I let it rest for 3 minutes with aircon off. At gasoline stations, I just tell them that I have to let it idle for coz of the turbo.

2 to 5 mins of idling the engine before turning the aircon is too long for me and 10 to 15 mins idling time to cool down the engine and the turbo is I feel it's too much. I already consider it wasting gas. But that's just me.

Mga bosings!!!

After a long 6months wait I got my 2nd hand Dmax na; it's a 09 AT. Pansin ko lang minsan, when accelerating from full stop especially in heavy traffic, parang sobrang ingay ng engine; parang naka 1st gear na pwersa at high rev. Then after a few meter run.... the engine is back to the moderate sound when you press on the accelerator. Bakit po ganun? May sira ba ang makina or transmission that I have to check? Kasa maintain naman ang unit which I have checked. Advice po....thanks

Also be sure to check the tag of the engine number which is under the hood, something like a VIN code (you will also see it in that pic, looks like a dog-tag attached to the panel near the radiator and/or the battery).... You should be able to read something like a 4JJ1---------- that also shows your engine serial number.

Thanks Po! It looks the same to what I remember but will look at it tomorrow and check. What is the EFI chip for?
