    Sir,

    Both Timing Chain and Gear!

Timing Chain related to the Camshaft and Supply Pump while the Gear to run other internal components.

+2 mga sirs, which is maintenance-free by the way ....Both the old DMax 4JH1-TC and the old Crosswind have ran more than 300,000 km todate, and counting, BUT never experienced opening up the engine ;)

With the belt-driven, you have to replace it every 100,000 km, which is still arguably a lot of distance to run. i'm expecting this to happen to my wife's current Innova D4-D by 100,000 km hehe

Most replaces them at 90,000kms just to be on the safe side.

OT: But don't you think the engr's of this engine already made a slight safe reco of 100,000kms replaceent sched? I always thought they will do this just to be safe as well as long as OEM belts are used for reliability of course.

Kailangan ko din gawin before the engine grenades due to a broken-piston or pin/circlips inside hehe

Gaya ng nabanggit ko na din sir, 100k kms of travel is a lot na rin! Ilan ba circumference ng mundo along the equator? Ilang balikan na yang 100,000 km di ba? ....Reasonable na din na tignan ang makina somehow just to be more on the safe side and have peace of mind all the time hehe....

If you like the idea of getting tired-to-be-fit and breath fresh air while doing it, there's no other perfect getaway cum bike hauler like the diesel DMax

    * Benzmiser & Hindmaxsiado,

timing belts are replaced, if possible, before a 100,00kms has been reached.... its not just the number of kilometers you stack up wiht your ride.. you also have to put into consideration the number of hours the car has been on traffic and waiting for the kids or gf or wifey, etc... even though you just use it drive the chuldren to school, you have ot consider the years your car has been on the road and the hours it has been running.

as for replacing the timing belt, i would suggest it would be done sa casa, i have heard some stories of cars being replaced ng timing belt outside sa casa or some very reliable shop, na nagkamali ng balik sa belt, nagkamali ng belt mismo or the type or quality of the belt being bought outside sa casa. kc lifeline din ng kotse ang timing belt, at least kung meron man magkamali sa casa or any branded repair shop, pwde ka magreclamo and they woudl warrant the repair and parts. hindi naman yan parati palitan, it owuld take years pa bago mo palitan ulit, so spending extra on assurance and peace of mind the work was done properly by eligible people.

i think isuzu and nissan lang hindi gumagamit ng timing belt sa mag diesel engines nila... as for gasoline engine, honda lng so far nakita ko na nakal timing chain sa mag new models nila... timing chains are used sa diesel para malakas humatak, mas tahimik... but the problem is that is has a very low life span, and needs maintenance...

By the way sir, ang 3.2-litre Strada 4M41 gaya din ng Isuzu, timing chain and gear.

I had the engine oil & all filters replaced but the consumption didn't improve. My D-Max will be 8 years old this December and has logged in 85T kms. Plus, I didn't have a turbo timer installed. Can this be a symptom of turbo failure? Thanks.

Di bale sir, on the positive note, mag-upgrade ka na to an aftermarket turbo so that you derive extra power, ika nga hehe

I dont know what he means by that.
