why dont you just adjust the sale price down across the board...isnt that the same? the problem with philippine buyres is that we always seem happier when we get "discount" ...we got used to buying in tiangge...laging may tawad...
Discounting has always and will be a marketing tactic. Typically temporary in nature and amount varies so that they do not need to make any permenent price reductions na mahirap na bawiin once given. For me nothing wrong with asking for discounts as long as overall you perceive that you get more value than you pay for.
i think it is the prerogative of the dealer to give discount or not...the discount should then be taken away from the selling commission of the dealer...of course, the main distributor (HARI) will always have the prerogative of dictating whether they will allow the dealers to give discount or not...if dealers violate, then they get cut...its their way of protecting their image.
Yes, you are right. Discounts given by dealers means sacrificing some from their bottom line earnings to generate more top line revenue. Overall absolute profit as a result in increased unit sales is the intention. And yes, its HARI's (as the principal) prerogative to set the rules of engagement among dealers.
for all you know, they will just adjust the price up across the board...then eventually allow dealers to give discount again...so back to square 1...its all a marketing ploys...and its up to the buyers whether they will bite this or not...bottom line is...
The discounts are useless if they increase the price. My note on standardizing price discount is also an industry practice, citing toyota and honda. Dealers however still use the FREEBIES to entice buyers. One thing good about a free economy and NO to price manipulation via anti-trust laws like in the US works for the consumer.
so bottom line is...whether there is discount or not...do you think the price is worth the product (net net...whether they call it "discounted" price or not....). if you believe price is too high...then dont buy...and look at your other options...if you have any...
