    sana nga uphill yung way.

I dont know if its the right term to be used for a hyundai, coz i read it somewhere from an article about the honda accord way back. the tranny senses the type of grade / angle the vehicle is traveling and tries to make full use of the engine's power or torque. given that the sf is very high on tech i guess the tranny became a nanny to the driver. hehehe

    much oblige sir

:dude:Your reply actually made me curious and googled for a while and found out that Grade Logic Control System is the right term for Honda Cars, CRV was equipped na as early as 2001. http://corporate.honda.com/press/article.aspx?id=20010220001295 :dude:

your right sir, but I think most computer controlled auto tranny now use that system. although termed differently but ultimately the same. although they dont highlight that feature. which one I dont know. maybe something with a hill decent control? hehehe:massbounce:

:cool2:Correct ka sir. I can't seem to find any link that highlights that feature on the SF anywhere. Based on the honda tranny, it is triggered on ascent, decent and on fast curves. I also been observing my SF recently when I am descending from a bridge. Once I release the gas pedal, I can feel the tranny down shifting to 1gear lower as the speed decreases... concluding that it doesn't go on free wheeling ultimately, (if my terms are accurate). Parang may slight engine breaking. IMO.
Perhaps some experts here can explain this feature more clearly.:lalala:

If you would want to explore the potential of your tranny you could try to change your driving habits. Meaning that I believe that the SF maybe have the software to learn the driving habits of its driver (Invecs of mitsu). e.g. late breaking (engine/tranny would let you glide) for economy or frequent breaking (tranny would let you engine break at the release of gas pedal) for sporty drivers. Just out of curiosity of course. the SF's tranny 5A/T +/- is one of its aces IMO.

The 5speed AT +/- really is a cool feature, but the accessibility is quite odd, not like the magnesium alloy paddle shifters of the Outlander GLS sport incorporated w/ the steering wheel. Formula 1 feel. If I was 10 years younger, the outtie would definitely be my choice.

...i was negotiating an uphill then and later flat. it was on the flat surface coming from an ascend where i discovered that the tranny was locked.

anyway, this experience would not be brought up if i don't have experience with cars equipped with auto transmission. to name a few: 2001 honda civic which was very lousy to me (imo), 2001 nissan sentra - auto transmission is superb, the car knows my driving style, 2003 x-trail which is the same as my nissan sentra. the cars mentioned were in my position for an average of 4 years and been driving these vehicles in almost kind of road conditions so i know very well how they behave and never did i experience like what i have on my sf.

one of my acquaintance has told me that he doesn't like auto tranny equipped because it seems that these type of vehicles knows more than the driver itself...funny though but sometimes make sense.

smart as it is, i still need a very logical explanation. i don't want to stop in the middle of my driving just to erase the logic employed by the computer to the tranny.

*ghost_recon - In that case, tranny locking in a flat stretch does seem to be an odd experience. Hope that the SA can explain what actually happened in that instance.
Anyway, this incident is something I personally would want to explore. Thanks sir and please do post any developments for our information. Likewise, will be calling my casa tom for their assessment. Have a nice evening.

Hi Bros, C190 just had my 2nd full tank, will update you guys on my FC, would just like to share an experience of mine, I went for a drive today and went to this place an hours drive away, ride was very good, was hitting 140-150kph (forgot all about the break in period )and then on the way home on one occassion I had to stop for traffic, I noticed that the clicking part of the turn signal indicator was clicking and the signal light switch was not engaged, I turned the signal control switch one side and returned it to center and it stopped, parang nag short sya or something, anyone else encountered something like that? also d na pala kayang mag bagahe when you use the 3rd row seats hehehe, would the provided cargo net fit on the roof rail rack? thanks guys!

yep turbo related yang problema mo walang duda!
try mo pa check yung mga pipes mo sa IC sir kasi dati while surfing the net may nabasa ako na parang review tungkol sa paglose niya ng power nung nangaling siya sa casa, tapos nalaman nalang niya na di pala nabalik mabuti ang pipings, so yun bumalik yung power nung pagkabalik niya, sana mahanap ko yung link
BTW sir lagi mo bang cool down ang SF pag galing ka sa long drives?

Happy Easter po mga sta feyers. I've got a 2000 4x4 honda crv, it's called a realtime 4x4. Normally working as a front wheel drive, just like the feature of 4x4 sta fe, ganun po talaga, it has a sensor that detects if you are climbing or descending, same thing if your front tyres are loosing traction, if this is the case, then the 4x4 system will automatically engage, and even your on the flat for some time after the climb naka engage pa rin ung 4x4 system. It will only be unlocked if you let loose of the accelerator for quite a minute. That is one hell of a safety feature. Pro: it is like a divine intervention pag medyo delikado ka sa kurbada at madulas pa and con: cost you precious drops of fuel if the 4x4 engages maski di kailangan. Don't panic, it's just normal. Re: Nissan X-trail's system iba po yun, may sellector for 3 settings 4x2, AUTO and 4x4 lock, if the AUTO is sellected, same thing will happen. Yun lang po. GOOD LUCK to you guys for having the happiest car club EVER!

just want to share a very odd experience on my way to seagull valley....

the road going to that place is well paved with traditional uphills. along the way i set the tranny to "D". with almost an hour of continuous driving and coming from an ascend when the tranny locks to a certain gear (noted rpm - 3000+). i try to depress the accelerator bringing the rpm back to (around) 1800 rpm and then press the accelerator again and continue doing so 'til the rpm reaches more than 3000 rpm again but still the tranny was locked. i set the tranny to manual (i found out that the tranny was in number 2) shift the stick to (+) a couple of times, but the tranny remains on number 2. then i decided to stop, put the stick to "N" then move again using the "D". with approximately 50 meters of running, the tranny was locked again...the same in number 2. it was this time i stopped and waited almost 10 minutes before proceeding. after that the problem was gone and never occurred even on our way back.

today i called the manager of hyundai gensan about the experience that i encountered which surprises him (i believe). he told me that he will going to discuss the matter with their maintenance manager. he then talked to me about the smart transmission our sf's have and should not worry about it. he also advises me to bring the unit to them if the problem will occur again to have the engine and transmission checked by a computer.

if you guys have this experience please share what are the root causes...thanks!

i had the same problem....you can readup on the earlier post...was uphill going to baguio...gears locked into 2nd gear...did not release until i went on full stop...happened twice (both on my way up to baguio....almost same spot)... i already reported this to hyundai...they diagnosed the computer...nothing wrong...their explanation is that the tranny adjust depending on the needed torque...just the same, they cant explain why it locks up...cuz i told them that if thats the reason...then it should have shifted when i reached a flat level (which it did not)...what i do now is to shift to sports mode when i encounter the same or similar uphill climb...this way, the computer box will not down shift by itself and i have control of the gears....

The provided cargo net is for the trunk when the 3rd row seats are folded and not for the roof rail. Like this one also included with my T4R
