It is just disappointing that we did not get the diesel variant with two stage turbo. I gave this feedback to Honda Philippines when they called to get comments on the new CRV after looking at it in the roadshow in Honda Carmona. Hope they change it before they finally introduce it.

September 3rd, 2017 05:00 PM #665Honda's diesels are not quite as exciting as the euro diesel cars or even the PPV-based diesels.
Plus the CRV is bit expensive for what you get. Hard to buy one when other diesels are either better value or jus plain better equipped.

The CRV really isn't much of a looker - it's not as pretty as a Forester or Fortuner, but it's not ugly either. A refinement of the outgoing CRV (the latest facelift of the 4th gen actually looks much better than when it first came out).
It's not all that exciting to drive too, at least based on my experience with the outgoing model. That's in comparison to the Forester and CX5 of course. If you compare it to any of the PPVs, the CRV is still far more nimble and comfortable.
Like I said before, a good number of car buyers will still flock to the more macho PPVs despite their rough riding nature. The CRV caters to a niche of diesel-loving SUV buyers who prioritize comfort but still need the occasional 7 seats.

I don't know. I checked it out yesterday and I feel like it's the RAV 4 can't tell the difference between the old and new models at least sa exterior and I'm a CRV fanboi since gen 1. I stopped after gen 3. I feel their design went downhill after gen 3.
I was thinking of purchasing another CRV but It was underwhelming. Siguro pag nag face-lift baka gumanda.

September 3rd, 2017 10:03 PM #669Ano ang majority opinion dito? Gas or Base Diesel? I'm torn between features vs fuel savings. May difference ba in terms of long-term durability? May cool-off period pa ba mga diesel engines ngayon? I normally do not go beyond 120kM/h. City driving lang. Biggest downer would be the analog radio (if I'm not mistaken) but I can eventually upgrade this to a 3rd party brand in the future. May difference ba yung 1" wheel difference sa baha? Speaking of baha, kaya ba ng CRV ang knee deep?
Can the second row seat 3 medium-built adults comfortably for long rides? Or 3 petite adults lang? 5inch difference sa hip room compared to Tucson and CX5 yung second row pero nung nakita ko sa showroom parang hindi naman ramdam yung difference. It seems wider than the RAV4 which has a similar hip room measurement on paper.
If ever, this will be my first time to own a Honda. Sabi nila mahal maintenance and parts compared to Toyota. Any comments? How about durability? Bagay ba sa Philippine roads and conditions? Aircon bumigay sa new-gen Civic ng friend ko.

For most people, the torquey nature of the diesel engine is a better fit since power is available at low revs. The 2.0 gas is adequate though and doesn't feel underpowered, even if it isn't as torquey as the diesel. The CVT is an even better fit compared to the older 5AT of the outgoing model.
The CRV fits 3 adults comfortably in the second row, at least in my experience. It's wider than my Civic and I haven't had any complaints with 3 adults in the back for long drives out of town.
Maintenance is actually cheaper than my old Toyota. I only spent 2.9k for my Civic's 10,000 km PMS, not to mention that they only have 10,000 km PMS intervals unlike Toyota's 5,000.
I like the aircon of my Civic more than my Altis because the Altis was too cold even at 28 degrees. The Civic's climate control is more realistic as setting it to 24 degrees actually keeps it at 24 degrees. Your friend's broken aircon seems to be an isolated case, as I haven't seen any other similar complaints among the hundreds of Civic owners in the Civic FB group. There are also isolated cases of aircon problems in other brands. I don't think it should be a dealbreaking concern when deciding which car to go for - cars today have much more robust airconditioning systems compared to those from the 90s.
