I have driven a loaded small car with a small engine going to Baguio and I never had any problems with it. Our old 2009 City was able to deal with the demands of Kennon and it never felt underpowered. It is not as quick though to accelerate compared to my Fiesta Ecoboost.

In my typical NLEX/SCTEX driving where I'd get 17-18 km/L with my Civic, I got 14.5 km/L with the CRV:

Full tank before entering NLEX. That was the mileage right before I exited at Clark.
It dropped to 13 km/L as I drove short distances in Clark, then went back up to 15.5 km/L as I logged 20.1 km/L on stretch of the trip back from Clark to Manila.
Total of 191.7 km traveled.

Highest I did from QC to Alabang via Edsa/SLEX is 23KM/L using 1.6S early morning.
New record! 20.1 km/L on highway driving!
Didn't think that this gas guzzler in the city could shine on the highway. The CVT really does wonders for long distance cruising.

Sa tingin ko 80kph yan max. CVTs can be very frugal when driven steadily with a light foot but the penalty is also really steep when you drive aggressively. It takes discipline to squeeze that much out of a big CVT car.
Conventional planetary gear automatics were more consistent and did not carry as big a penalty when driven spiritedly.
A member of the FB Page “Honda CRV Diesel/Gas 5th Gen Philippines” posted that his aunt’s CRV’s shift knob button broke and popped out while she was driving. This caused all the warning lights to go on; furthermore, she couldn’t shift to park or neutral. When she turned off the engine the car stayed in “Acc” mode forcing her family members to disconnect the battery.
When they went to Honda, they said that the vehicle was not covered under warranty because they had missed their 6 mo. warranty. Apparently the vehicle only has 1300 kms on the odo. Poster was mad because the defective shift knob switch had nothing to do with the missed 6 mo PMS. Also, upon further research, this defect is apparenly a fairly common problem for shift lever equpped CRVs in many markets, not just the PHL. If Honda is not careful, the terrible after sales service reputation of Ford may very well be become identified with them as well.
When I bought my wife’s 1.6 S CRV, the dealership gave me a lecture about how missing PMS will void warranty of the vehicle. That is not an issue to me as I am meticulous about servicing my vehicles. That said, Toyota is much more flexible/reasonable in their warranty claims policy. Two Camrys in 10 yrs has made me appreciate their after sales service more after hearing stories like this.
As much as I feel like a lemming saying this, I think my next purchase will be an under-spec’d, over-priced Toyota.
Hi everyone. Meron ba dito naka experience na may parang umaalog na tunog sa ilalim pag mabagal takbo? Say 10-20kph. Constant alog-tunog siya pag nakaliko parang sa suspension [emoji848] I sold my gen 3 CRV so madalas ko ng gamit itong 1.6S, gas guzzler kasi yung pinalit ko sa gen 3 haha. Habang tumatagal parang lumalakas yung umaalog na tunog.
