I currently drive a 2005 2.3 Escape. I had a 2004 2.0 Escape until I sold it for the 2.3. Why? Because the power that i needed wasnt there. I was very happy with my 2.0 but the power is quite inadequate. Thats is just me though as I have nothing more to add with regards to riding comfort. Just be careful with the 2nd hand that you are getting especially the year model. There was a particular batch that had issues with the brake pads being that of environment friendly but causes so much dirt on the rims.

Otherwise, the Escape is a great ride.

Yung stories of 5.5 km/l aren't very worrying, for me. Even 1.6s can get 5.5 if the traffic is very bad. In fact, one guy on the Ford board was mad about his fuel consumption when everyone was getting 2-3 km/l more than him, and did every test possible to find out what was wrong, including a dyno test (which revealed that his engine was actually very healthy). He finally accepted that it was just his daily route affecting his consumption.

Kahit first generation CR-V kayang umabot ng 5 km/l lang, so a few owners getting that on their Escapes doesn't mean it's any worse.

Basta, follow the eco-run style of driving, and you should stay within 7-8. More if you pick the time of your commute (go a little earlier in the morning) carefully.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Ditto on that... I travel to work quite early in the AM (before 6am) so that doesnt pose a problem. When i would bring our Cefiro from time to time before, i would average around 7+ in the in steady driving mode. I guess driving around in an oil burner and a 1500 sedan for the past few years has spoiled my fuel budget senses. :P .

I'm not much of a straight line speed fanatic, my driving style is more on keeping speed and momentum through the turns (that's why i value driving feel a lot) and i just need ample power to overtake at speeds between 60-90kph when I drive up north (is it ample enough?). I guess if we decide on the 2.0 (it's one of the last 2.0's before the 2.3 was intro'd) then i'll look up ways to up the engine power a bit (i-h most likely).

Otep, bigyan mo na rin ng Type-R tsaka ralliart sticko yung tito mo, plus 10hp yun... ;)

the 2.0L escape's ride is really good. it's supple over bumps yet tight on corners - and a helluvalot more forgiving on the backside than the 2nd gen crv. medyo mas mahina sa akyatan at malakas nga lang sa gas compared to crv.

Well... looks like we'll be getting it then if all works okay. I just have to take one final look and drive at the car this weekend.

If you always go to out of town trips, you might find the 2.0 engine lacking. But if not, I would say go for it if it's a nice price and better value.

Got the unit already as our bank gave us a good rate on the car to top off the good condition... just have to take it for the 25K service soon. I'd rather have this then getting a new Altis J (cheaper and shorter payment terms for the almost the same monthly, no more initial depreciation drop, more space and more fun to drive). ;)

I've accepted the fate of not having the same power of CR-Vs, Xtrails, 2.3L Escapes and Ravs but as long as i can climb and run my corners then i'm fine. Incidentally, i drove a CR-V ('00 model) to Cavite yesterday and i did notice the handling/body roll difference (w/ the Escape being better)... light footed driving was almost similar but i'm sure the CR-V will leave it behind once the pedals are floored and the cargo loads are increased.

First impression on the drive: I noticed that the Escape 2.0 a/t does accelerate hard and well enough to 80kph if you floor it from speeds below 40kph on level/slight grade roads (with a 4 pax load) as the car takes it from 1st gear... however if you do the same maneuver between 50-80kph the tranny hesitates to shift to 1st gear, thus the sluggish acceleration... i have to try shifting manually if that's the case i guess. I'll still experiment around until i get the groove of the engine and tranny patterns. I'll also look into fabricating an adaptor and heat shield for a K&N upgrade when time/cashflow permits.

Is the 2.0L E10 fuel compatible also?

Hey, sign up at http://forum.fordclubph.com ... there's a new post regarding auxiliary fans (ask the Ford SA about this) and tail-lights. If your model doesn't have burnt tails, then you don't have to worry, but if there's still a warranty, you might want to get the new plastic.

    Congrats!

    Yep, it'll run on E10.

Does it still come with the OEM first aid kit and other stuff (tools, manuals, etc?).

Yep... it comes with the first aid kit, tools and manuals... wala lang leather booklet holder. I also got the OEM stepboard (the previous owner almost had taken off to move it to her new Escape, buti naagapan). I'll just shop around for OEM fog lamps and the exterior is okay na... mo detailing needed (i just waxed it at home and removed some tar buildup on the paint).

Niky, i've been a FCP registered user since last year or the other year (when we bought our Ford Everest). Di lang masayadong active. ;)

Got the car back from Ford Libis, the evaporator had a leak based on pressure test. It was replaced, damage was approx P25k. My Escape is now 2.5 yrs old, I had the same problem. Hope your car is still under warranty.

By the way, it took Ford Libis 5 days from diagnosis to repair and replacement. Hope this info helps.
