Ako din sumayad na twice sa parking namin going down. Noong una akala ko yung bagong kabit kong front mud guard. Para akong nagdrive ng lowered na car. haha! I checked kung pwedeng tanggalin and pwede naman. Kaya lang there's a scoop attached to it that leads to the engine. Baka auxillary air intake un..i really dont know...

Just had my 1st 1,000kms check up today. Next PMS is 6 months from pick up date or 10,000kms whichever comes first pero I'll also check with the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor. Kung nasa 45% na then pa oil change na rin ako.

By the way, paano mo na disable ang power liftgate mo? Reality sets in when drivers and other people are not used to the "POWER" setting. Baka lalo kasing masira. Hindi ko mahanap sa manual kasi.

    Thanks in advance!

It's located on the control panel on the left side of the dashboard (forgot what it's called). I'm not sure of the sequencing to find the control but it's something like the Settings --> Vehicle --> Liftgate --> Enable/Disable

Note that if Liftgate is in manual mode, if you open it from the inside or using your rermote key, it will still open automatically. It is only in manual mode if you open it from the outside. That's when the security guards of the malls come in... sila dapat ang magbukas sa likod para naka-manual mode. The problema is that most of them do no know where the latch is located. They always mistake the rear view camera to be the latch to open the trunk Minsan nga gusto ko lagyan ng sticker that says "Open Here" parang yung sa mga FX na taxis pero ang baduy tignan hehe!

Another way is... when in automatic mode and you open the liftgate from the inside, click to open, then wait for the desired gap/opening then click again so it will stop. No need to wait for it to be fully opened.

Remember, to open liftgate, you should be in P mode (haven't tried N). Kaya pala one time hindi mabuksan ng guard yung likod kasi nasa drive mode pala ako na nakatapak sa break. Hassle kasi if you're waiting for your parking card to come out of the machine then ilalagay mo pa sa Park mode.

*3ple4: Thanks for the detailed instructions and suggestions! I will disable it since our drivers are forgetful these days. Baka lang masira.

I agree with other members here na mahina ang illumination ng FOG LIGHTS. Any recommendation of a YELLOW H11 bulb for the fog lights. Also, mahirap bang palitan if DIY? I mostly use the Explorer to travel the Daang Maharlika and some parts are really dark. The HID is great but the added YELLOW illumination by the fog lights will definitely help especially when it is raining.

I found an interesting article by an update from the explorerforum.com: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/09/au...cool.html?_r=0

In summary, the article specifically identifies "SMELLY EXPLORER", with owners complaining sulphur like smell in the cabin.

Let's all be vigilant and report any findings. I've already told my dealer manager about this. His brother also owns a 2012 Explorer Limited V6, so he is definitely concerned.

Changed mine to Yellow H11 bulb (Solarzen brand). Parang walang effect kahit napalitan yung kulay coz the fog lamps are so located below the bumper that I can hardly tell the difference. Sabi kasi sa akin ng friend ko whom I bought the bulb from, pag high wattage daw, parang nag-da-dark daw yung cover ng bulb so I just got the normal 55W ata yun.

I personally have been filling up with Caltex Gold since I got the EX. I have yet to try the Silver because gasoline variants are so much cheaper in the province than in Manila. About P2-3 difference so heck I fill up with Caltex Gold. I take advantage when en route to Manila. I don't fill up in Manila unless really necessary.

Anyway, in my experience though, there wasn't a huge difference in mileage when using between 93 RON and 95 RON for the X-trail and the Expedition. I will note it down when switching to 93 RON next time in our EX for comparison. So far, the best FC is 7.58kms/ltr (ALL HIGHWAY) and 6.77kms/ltr (combined). City driving really brings down the mileage.

By the way, I was wrong before. The octane rating in the US uses an average of the RON (research octane number) and MON (motor octane number). Our EX is designed for 87 (RON+MON/2), which is actually one rating lower in our case (as a general rule of thumb) 93 RON - 5 = 88. Using 95 RON here in the Philippines is equivalent to using 90 in the US. So in Using Blaze, which is 100 RON (correct me if I'm wrong please since I'm a Caltex user), then you are filling up with ULTRA Premium equivalent in the US or 95 (RON+MON/2).

I traveled today from Sta Rosa to Bauan,Batangas to Makati then back Sta Rosa for total distance of 236kms. I still got above half the tank & 276kms left to empty on XCS.

Sige masubukan nga yung Blaze sa next refill ko. I usually use either XCS or Velocity, now Nitro Racing, same lang FC ko for both fuels.

Any updates on Explo owners who went to GaryQ para magpa-retrofit ng HID?

that's correct bro. i guess the benefit living here in the south is paglabas mo, hiway na agad unlike sa metro, paglabas mo, trapik na agad.
that trip was mostly slex & startoll with some slow down at the calamba toll exit kahit may epass & once near the cemetery. you can add the neat traffic in makati as a result of the long holiday break.

...went to san fernando yesterday, average NLEX fc was 10.4l/100km (9.6KM/L) with adaptive cruise control set at 100kph, but on regular city use , fc goes down to 5km/l using shell nitro+, ours also have the weird smell on heavy acceleration. Any news from the local dealers re: the weird smell?

Definitely no word from our local dealers. I don't think they even know of such defect. To date ni hindi pa nga nila alam na meron ng MFT update na v3.2.2. Pero good news: as read on explorerforum.com, meron na daw lalabas na technical service bulletin for the smell during hard acceleration before December.

As far as local dealers are concerned, wala pa. Ni MFT update from v.3.0.2 to v.3.2.2 wala pa rin silang idea e. Nabasa ko ulit sa explorerforum.com na meron ng lalabas na Technical Service Bulletin to address the smell coming into the cabin during hard acceleration. Before December daw as per a member's post. Here's to hoping and praying!

Sa hawak kong brochure, ang Blue, Black and Silver ang available for the 2.0 ECO Boost. For the V6 Limited, Black, Grey, White Platinum and Kodiak Brown. Ung Ruby Red ay parang special order ng isang diplomat ata from back reading. Maganda rin yung Green Gem Metallic and Cinnamon Metallic na mga kulay. Too bad limited lang ang kulay na available.

Still good pa din yun retrofit. No complaints.

Very excited to try out the MFT update. Had our Explorer serviced for the 15k kms PMS and had them update the MFT as well.
