I saw the model at the auto show before...what I noticed was the power 3rd row seat button was showing wear...it didn't work all the time.

Is the supply still an issue? the price increase justifies the added features of the car...
so far haven't experienced any issues on mine. i was actually avoiding ford till the new explorer came out.

I guess you'll just need a to find a gray market 662hp 2013 Shelby GT500 to beat that modified C63.
    Top Speed 200mph, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

PS: I was surprised though that the Mustang GT could beat the stock C63 AMG on Motor Trend's figure 8 test.
    412hp 2011 Mustang GT (2013 makes 420hp)
    Lateral Accel: 0.97g
    Figure-8: 24.7sec * 0.77g

    481hp Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe
    Lateral Accel: 0.94g (avg)
    Figure-8: 24.9 sec * 0.78 g (avg)

I just relaized this thread is about the Explorer.

What's its rpm when you're cruising at 120km/h?
magazines aren't always accurate, from experience there is no way a stock mustang gt could keep up with the c63, heck even a gallardo and a number of super cars would eat the c63's dust, anyone who has driven both would say the same.

anyway back to topic. not sure what the rpm is when cruising 120kph but at 180kph i was at 5th gear at around 5.5-6k rpm. that speed limiter is truly a disappointment.

Maybe you're just a better driver than the guys at Motor Trend.

What happens if you use the 6th gear?

C63 AMGs are already beastly in its stock form. Gets more exciting when it's chipped & reflashed.

    i wish.

nothing happens when yo go ton6th gear because once you hit 180kph the gas cuts off, so if you switch to 6th gear the rpm goes down but stay at the same speed.

6th gear is more for cruising at flat ground or downhill. Once you hit a patch of uphill climbs, it goes to 5th.
Walang power jan sa 6th. For fc lng sya.

Sucks... the Explorer could do much more... but given the weight, the height and the soft suspension... maybe it's prudent not to try too hard.

Here I was thinking the C63 was just a "12 second" car... apparently, a stock C63 is much, much better... would take a highly tuned supercharged Mustang to take it on...

Ouch! Well, you were pushing it so that explains it. So at least there's a high figure for highway consumption. I wonder about a low one. And how the EcoBoost version would fare.

i'd be happy if the explorer's top speed is atleast at 200-220kph, any more than that i think the car won't be as stable.

yup, especially the c63 with p31 package MB claimed it only has 30hp more than the regular c63 but when you run it side by side i doubt it really only has 30hp more.

if all highway only i usually do 7-8km/ltr. the ecoboost would probably only have .5-1km/ltr difference.

Guys, i'm planning to purchase a 2013 Explorer XLT next week. We even got the a very good price quotation awhile ago from a dealership near us. Any recommendation about the optional/available equipment/packages? Are some of them really necessary like the rear-view camera? how about the power liftgate?

I don't yet have the moolah to go full blast on a limited trim, so I'm only going for an XLT.

And while i'm at it, can you give me some pointers on what to check for defects before driving it out the casa?

    Thanks!

Meron na bang XLT dito sa Pilipinas? Akala ko either Limited or Ecoboost lang? Or is the Ecoboost also the XLT variant?

I find the rear view camera very useful. Power liftgate... I think it's unnecessary, pwede na ang manual.

they call the ecoboost 2.0 as XLT here in ph

I agree with 3ple4, the rear camera is a must because of the size of the explorer and specially useful when parking at night

the power liftgate is more of a novelty but I find it useful when raining and I have to load something in the back, the liftgate is already open as you approach to give you a brief respite from the rain.

Sorry, this is here in Canada. Sa 2013 tinanggal na nila ecoboost, all ordinary v6 engines na lang. Here we have 7 trims: the base model, the XLT, the limited, the 4WD variants of those three and there's the sport.

I've seen the rear-view camera in my friend's Nissan Rouge and my wife likes it very much. Maybe i'll include that in the options.

It hardly rains here in CA and im getting the feeling that it might encountered problems in the near future, but yes it's kinda useful when you have a bag full of groceries on both hands

OT: We also can swap the 18" of the XLT to a 20" polished aluminum wheels for about $1200, para Limited looking
