Maingay pag umaandar. hmm.. Yung windows pala, masakit sa tenga kapag binubuksan pag high speed.

We've been to Regina, Rica in Tanay with the Ranger at walang problema sa akyatan.. most of the time eh nasa 3rd gear pag medyo mabagal ang nasa harap.
Medyo nakakahasa ng left 'n right tantyahan.

Pag nasa mood, gamit ko normal engine breaking ng 3rd gear.. then pag tinopak minsan eh coasting by disengaging the engine by clutch at the cost of break pads.. sayang ang momentum eh.. pero di advisable!!! better to have a working break in times of emergency kesa maubos then mag rely sa engine or hand break!

Best way to go downhill from Tanay (and any other twisty route), for me at least, is to use engine braking. That is, to stay in gear and minimize the reliance on the brakes. That way, you prevent the brakes from heating up and fading.

I once tried going up and down Tanay in a Vios AT loaded with 3 people. Because I wasn't paying active attention with the engine braking, coupled with the weight of the passengers vis-a-vis the light chassis and small brakes of the car, I suffered from a bit of brake fade downhill - the brakes suddenly felt spongy and had much less bite than what is usual.

The trick to the Ranger's manual shifting is relaxed shifting. This is no sports car and, even tho its not a long throw (compared to the hilux), its not a short shifter either. So shift slowly as if you let the transmission pull in the slot of the stick. Do not force the stick to its slots. Then do clutch blending after each shift.

Slow and relaxed driving is the way to go. 1st and 2nd gear could really be sloooow at times but when the turbo kicks in, there will be no problem. LOL.

For me, I won't install hood scoop because it is not necessary, may affect aerodynamic, and it doesn't improve appearance per my taste. Sorry if discouraging. Peace

Agree with you. I find it easier to shift now after using it for 7T km.

bakit ganon? Nakaka takot mukang lalabas ung engine nung nang yari yun....
Grabe 20 mins idling? And yet nag rattle yun engine. So how much cool down is required to avoid engine rattle? interested to hear what service Centre would recommend. I also encounter engine rattle despite few mins cool down.

Unless there is a real need for the hoodscoop, I'd steer clear of this mod.

For that matter, the LC120 Prado does not have a hoodscoop despite having a top-mount intercooler. Air is rechanneled from the front grille to the top-mount. What one of the hardcore enthusiasts in Australia discovered -- with documented proof -- was that with the scoop his EGTs were much much lower. If you can get that proof and have a real need for it, then go for it.
