Here's a good PDF on that matter.

as per sulfur content from my own knowledge, i'll select the oil with lower API rating. some oils do have lower TBNs and rely on some additives to meet performance requirements while others are the opposite.
Dlvdoc, im right in my understanding that CJ-4 oils is recommended to be used in countries where diesel fuels are rated as EURO 4? because of their low sulfur?
whereas areas where there is still high sulfur content on fuels , CI-4 is better because it has the additives necessary to combat the sulfur?
ZIC oil price estimates dito sa probinsya:
ZIC SD5000 15w-40 multi-grade Php 175/liter
ZIC UP 10w-40 semi-synthetic Php 210/liter
ZIC XQ 5w-40 fully synthetic Php 550/liter
Observed this on my 2010 strada 4x2 with OEM oil filer and OEM air filter.

Read that also before. What is interesting is that getting an API certification pala costs 3 times more than passing the Japanese standard test DH1 so many oils just state that they pass API SL/CI4 etc but has no API symbol markings.
Mobil 1 TDT is CJ-4 rated but its content is almost identical to CI4 plus oils as per their product data sheet. It may be the only CJ rated oil I'm gonna trust right now. Tried it on the Rouser 135LS bike and for 4,000+kms odo, it still good to go. Plan to use it for 5,000kms more. Seems like its really tough. How much more if used in a diesel engine.![]()

you're right ry_Tower... kahit sa BITOG forums... madalas yan ginagamit nila for ford power stroke engines and other big displacements engines 4.5-5 liters...
ganda kasi nang additive package tapos synthetic base pa...
dvldoc, could the use of wrong oil cause a turbo charger to "sweat" oil? my 4m40 has a small oil leak at the compressor outlet of the turbo charger. im not sure if the leak occurred during the rebuild of my motor (failure to clean the leak from the repair) or after.
current oil used is Shell Rimula R1 SAE40 API-CD. ran 3,000km.
