Its quite surprising that Toyota Phil still approves CF-4 diesel mineral oil (of their own Toyota relabelled oil) to be used on the D-4D.

I mean they could have gone for something rated at CI-4.

Anyway, warranty ends this coming May and I'm free to use better oil (and filter) in future services.

i think its because of our euro2 fuel.

Bosch oil filter is good but Baldwin oil filter is better. The price increase is unreasonable imo. The equivalent of BT-223 for Bosch is OT-042 much cheaper compared to Baldwin.

Retz, any pics of this Bosch OT-042? How much did you get it for and where? Amazon, Warren?

Based on the pic, I estimate it to be about the same size as the Toyota OEM filter from the casa. Bosch is a bit thinner and shorter than the BT223

Which one is better? From their website same na synthetic sila eh.

In your opinion which one is a better option.

Option 1: Use Shell R4x + vic oil filter
R4x is * 205/ltr or 800/gallon

Option 2: Top1 SDO/HD/HD+ + vic oil filter

Vic oil filter kasi walang Baldwin for the C-524.

Any inputs/better suggestion?

Preferably 15w-40, yun na yung all time nakalagay sa dmax namin.

OCI is at 5-6k kms, should I opt for the SDO its at 10k kms.

Kung vic oil filter mo huwag ka na mag-top 1. R4X na lang. Buti kung baldwin, fleetguard,wix, purolator or donaldson

Try ko nga to sa EK namin. Itatakas ko na lang yung OCI. Di na naman papayag erpat ko pag nalamang pang-diesel yung langis.

i will also consider TOP1 SDO in our altis since API CI-4/SL naman pala sya. nagpapalakas lang ako ng loob dahil this will be my first time if ever to use diesel oil to a gas engine.hehe

i am a helix h7 user. satisfied naman ako sa oil na yun kaya lang e nagmahal ng presyo kaya i'm considering other oils na.

2 weeks ago nung pumunta ako sa bosch dealer na alam ko, made in korea na nga yung oil filters nila,
pero nung last year na bili ko sa kanila, na currently nakakabit sa kotse ko, made in malaysia pa yun,
thou place of origin lang ang difference, i think parehas lang naman ang quality.

Hindi naman po dapat, recommended lang po ang Baldwin oil filters. You may use other filter brands pero mahusay kasi Baldwin kaya recommended.

For the Bosch oil filters, certain kind of filter are manufactured in a certain country. ie. OM 036 is made in Korea. OF 506 made in Indonesia. This has been my experience.
