sa gas engine kasi konti lang oil around 1 gallon kaya medyo kaya pa kahit fully synthetic at madalas OCI, sa diesel masakit sobra eh, 7-8 liters. 2x sa gastos.
As far as I remember I used to make 80 pesos per bottle ng X1-R; 50 sa XP-7 & Slick 50; 10 lang sa STP; 30 sa Cyclo, Abro, Per'tua & PET. Syempre sasamahan natin yan ng Award winner na engine flush x 2 agad * 10 pesos per bottle, konting sundot na baka gusto ng tune up with matching Bosch platinum sparkplugs. Whew, that was way back 15 years ago....
Naku sir, baka hinde nyo magustuhan dahil sa pagka stock eh baka oblong na gulong nun hehehe...

Bro, nakalagay ba sa owner's manual if Mineral, Semi-synthetic or Fully Synthetic ang oil na gagamitin for oil change intervals below?
Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions
4D56 (All) - Every 3,000 km or 6 months
A2.5 Diesel, For Europe - Every 10,000 km or 6 months
A2.5 Diesel, Except Europe (e.g. Philippines) - Every 5,000 km or 6 months
Gasoline, For Middle East - Every 5,000 km or 6 months
Gasoline, Except Middle East (e.g. Philippines) - Every 7,500 km or 6 months
Ayon sa manual ko. 15w40 dapat ang oil na gamitin. Pag gumamit ba ko ng 10w30 or 10w40 wala naman bang bad Effect sa makina? Thanks!
Sa Citimotors fully syn 10k or 1yr... Pero balik ka Ng 5k palitan Ng oil filter then top up Ng 1liter
Much of the disagreement from the past few pages stems from the wide spectrum of oil change intervals indicated by car manuals depending on your operating conditions. What works for one person may not be the ideal setup for another.
To be more concrete, I'll use my car as an example:
It's clearly stated that under normal conditions, the recommended OCI is every 10,000 km or 12 months, whichever comes first.
However, there are certain driving conditions which would qualify as "severe", such as:
1. Frequent short trips of less than 8 km
2. Extensive idling and/or low speed driving
Under these conditions, the recommended OCI is 5,000 km or 6 months, whichever comes first.
Notice that the manual doesn't discriminate between mineral, semi-synthetic, or synthetic oil. It's more particular about the road conditions that you use. The manual only specifies recommended viscosities (from 5W-30 to 20W-50) and API ratings (SL to SN).
So based on the data, your recommended OCI would be different depending how you drive your car.
If your car is a garage queen with only very few kilometers racked up annually, and with much of those miles not really under heavy traffic, then changing your oil once a year is enough. Since it's just an annual expense, even going for FS won't hurt your pocket too much.
If you accumulate lots of highway kilometers, or if you live in the suburbs/provinces and are not subject to the horrendous metro traffic, then changing every 10,000 km is okay (but if you still don't reach 10k annually, then you'll still have to change every year).
If you travel mostly short trips, or if your trips comprise mainly of rush-hour, bumper to bumper traffic, then you'll fall under "severe conditions", and are thus recommended for an OCI of 5,000 km or 6 months.
I'm sure there will be people who will say, "I'm running on fully synthetic oil, I can go 10,000 km even if my car is stuck in traffic most of the time and I live only 5 km away from my office". That's your call, but nowhere in the manual does it state that just because you have FS oil, you can neglect the fact that you have severe driving conditions and are thus recommended for 5,000 km oil changes.
One might counter, "but that's so damn expensive!", to which I'll say, the manual doesn't require you to get the most expensive FS oil. You can always go for semi-synth which is just 2/3 the price but has the same API rating and still falls within the recommended viscosity.
For those who're being heckled by their dealers to change oil more frequently than what their manual states, you can always show them what the manual says, and ask for a reasonable explanation why they choose to defy it. If that doesn't work, then consider the option of losing your warranty and just getting your oil changes done elsewhere.
Baka for newer cars kamo.
Fasten your seatbelt! Or else...Driven To Thrill!
Older cars have more deposits. The techron concentrate will clean deposits in the valves and injectors.
May na yung Caltex fuels na techron. kaso according dun sa isang nabasa ko 10x less ang concentration. Not recommended din na more than 2 treatments every 5000km. Sadly though, di pwede sa diesel tong techron in a bottle.

thanks for pointing that out, capt obvious.
i checked out our neighborhood caltex peeps if they have this on stock and sadly it wasn't. the reason is people find it too pricey daw that's why they stopped placing orders of the stuff.
so the question is, aside from caltex fill-up stations (of w/c there's a dearth in my general area), are these available in places like ace, handyman, and the like?
