Going to have my 5k km oil change today sa casa. They are offering either fully synth every 10k km or mineral every 5k lang. Given the choices, I'm inclined to use the mineral oil not just because of price, but also to change more often. Feeling ko mas malinis kung more often ang interval. And i think the warranty calls for it.

Tama decision mo. Based on my experience, yung 10km for fully synthetic at 5km for mineral oil ay both good for 6 mos sa CASA. So if you dont travel 10km in 6mos using FS, palit pa din ng oil ang gagawin ng casa.

The problem with mineral oil sa casa is it's SL rating. If your unit is still under warranty, then it calls for an SM rating.

I am always bothered by the fact that we need to change oil every 6 months even if it hasn't run for 10k kms. I don't think modern oils more so if it is fully synthetic, will breakdown in a year inside an engine which is not being used.

I wouldn't consider this severe usage & do top-up with filter change every 5k & full FS o/C every 10k. My o/C interval is approx 6 weeks. For you guys who drive in the metro traffic, how would you quantify your o/C vs time spent idling & short trips? I drive a diesel btw.
700km per week and 25hrs drive time? Thats a slow expressway hehehe. If I drive 25hrs...I woulda reached 2500km-3500km hahaha.

Yeah, the 100kph speed limit is a killer. But my car only carries 45 lits. of fuel. I would guess if I drive continuously I can go 1000k to empty.

Kaso lahat ng oil na lalagpas ng API SL are synthetic oils na lang.

Ang mineral hanggang SL na lang.

The problem with dealership oil most of them are relabeled/repacked.

On the shelves here in the philippines there are few to choose from.

You could find SM/SN dino oil like SKzic Idemitsu Mobil Shell Castrol These five oil players are in the top 10 lubricants makers in the world.

    I saw this at *******

Zic A 10w40 Gasoline Engine Oil 4Liters 7am-11pm For Sale Philippines - Find Brand New Zic A 10w40 Gasoline Engine Oil 4Liters 7am-11pm On OLX

Idemitsu dino are SM rated available at unioil

Shell dinos at the fuel station are damn overprice

Castrol green magnatech is one good oil

Do you have options we can look at? Budget?

For diesel engine oils, oil change interval is crucial. 3months for mineral oil is max especially on an older engine.

Try Delo Gold or Gold Ultra. I know its a slight downgrade but it might be better especially for an older engine.

Sa budget wala naman prob pero kung may cheaper brand na mas ok the better. Iniisip ko itry sana yung mobil delvac mx or shell rimula r4x. Actually every 5k OCI ko. Usually 3 months lang nakaka 5k nako.

Try the rimula r4x for 2 oil changes, but i dont think there will be much improvement. I think your engine is already well taken care of.

How bout top1 sdo? Ano sa tingin mo? Kaso synthetic na.

A better choice would be Havoline Synthetic Blend 10w40 sn a3/b3 a3/b4 price should be around 1600 for a 4L jug. Good for 6 months.

Its expensive for a synthetic blend. Not a better choice

Zic A API SN 10w40, Idemitsu 10w30 API SM, I think is price around 800pesos

With these oil in a Gasoline Engine you can reach 5000 kms or 6months and that is conservative. Max is 7000 kms to once a year whichever comes first.

I like rimula/delo/delvac, top1 not so much. It is semi synthetic though. If its cheaper then why not.

Alaga engine mo 40k with delo400 hehehe. Hope tranny and axle oils are also good.

Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic?
