I tried using 20w50 on my 2001 Accord before thinking that thicker viscosity will fare better for older cars. I observed that with thicker viscosity, the engine takes a longer to warm up properly. I changed oil after a month (using 5w40) and the engine felt livelier on a daily basis.
You can order Zic or Xteer at Lazada or Shopee.
bro, italian tune ups(sustained high revs) wont fix a ticking sound. using oil for too long(over a year?) might have been the issue. mineral grade oils viscosity thins over time(40w becomes 30w or worse 20w or less) when this happens the protection is lessened. I suggest a shorter oil change interval.
the ticking sound is not a good gauge of proper valve clearance. some engines do and must tick, kasi.
valve clearance numbers vary from engine to engine, po. best to consult shops and mechanics that have those numbers, and know how to adjust them. civic is a popular engine. you should have little problem looking for the qualified shop/mechanic. the tsikoteers here might even drop a few names and addresses.
google engine valve clearance issues, po. suffice to say, too large and too small are both detrimental to the engine and/or valves.
Actually sir since nakuha ko ung auto wala ng nakalagay na kahit anung sticker under the hood, meron lang ung sa takip ng fuse box. Few times ko na rin nabasa ung manual, walang nakalagay about valve adjustments, baka siguro kulang ung nasakin, 2nd hand ko lang nabili.
Wala na yung sticker na parang ganito? When we still had the civic, albeit a 97 model vti, i vaguely remember reading this in the manual, towards the last few pages. The indexed summary of the manuel does wonders searching.
Kung wala talaga, find out the what engine you have, ph12, ph16, b16,etc then google.
